I just want you to know that not all mental illness is the same for every person. Also, some people are not medicated at all, while others need med adjustments from time to time, and others have been taking meds so long that they have to change meds completely. I get frustrated with my doctor because she doesn't make changes to my meds until I have had unacceptable behaviors on top of symptoms. I'm not saying it's okay to have behavioral problems but it's not really something people have control over. If they did they wouldn't really be mentally ill. Sometimes cognitive therapy helps but only if they are medicated in addition to the therapy. I have learned some red flag signs that helps me with draw from others or I can take a nap until my break through meds kick in. I'm not always aware immediately. For me that is progress.
Pile 2: Slow and steady has become my motto. I'm acting a little slower than I would like, because I have been through lots of trauma. The important part though is that I'm actively trying to improve my life. I know I will get my results if I'm diligent.

I chose pile 1, it was a very strong feeling, and you reminded me that I'm an empath, a rather strong one, but I keep forgetting that because I am also on the autism spectrum. I have taken on the really strong, dark and depressed feelings of someone else, and have mixed up their bad feelings about me and I've been believing those were my feelings about myself. I thought it was weird because I feel rather good about myself ordinarily but all of a sudden I felt bad self esteem and I haven't felt that for a long time. This other person has many problems and we live together in close quarters, I'm about to move out but have trouble finding a new place, and they want me out as soon as possible. We're civil to one another but I can feel how it boils under the surface. I don't know why I didn't connect to the empath thing, but it's part of the self centered part of autism I guess.
