    Why can you hear literally everything that the controller is saying even if it doesn't apply to you?

    • @Lifereportage
      @Lifereportage  8 років тому +6

      Because it's a radio frequency that is broadcasted all over London to all of 11.000 buses. Once upon a time they were talking of creating different frequencies for different areas, but I've never noticed any difference.

      Once i've heard something relevant to my area, but not my route lol..
      it's a huge distraction and gets very annoying at certain times when there's a lot going on
      you have a local controller and you have centre comm (the ones broadcasting to the entirety of london), local controller is literally for local routes, while centre comm is all over

    At minute 7:17, that was probably nothing with the bus 😁😅
    I'm from Germany and my english is not perfect. I have a general question about the bus service/timetable.
    Do you also have fixed departure times for each stop, or is there a regular schedule, i.e. no fixed departures at each stop?
    And what are the travel times? When I watch some of the videos, it always seems like you always have to rush yourself and have to floor the accelerator to be on time.
    or am I wrong there? In any case, it always seems hectic and stressful 😀

    • @Lifereportage
      @Lifereportage  2 роки тому

      In London they have set times for main bus stops and those must be respected... for instance buses are not allowed to be more than 2 1/2 minutes early, or the bus company gets fined £200. Some routes are planned with plenty of time, while others you always have to rush. It's a very stressful job and nobody wants to finish late, even if it's paid overtime.

    • @historyonthego
      @historyonthego Рік тому

      There are two types of bus timings, High frequency and low frequency. High frequency routes are routes with four or more buses per hour. These routes are time judged on keep an equal time between buses ie. 8min intervals. Transport For London penalises bus operators if the operate outside of a giving margin . Low frequency bus routes run on schedules times, buses have to leaves bus stops at correct times.. The reason why you see drivers rushing is down to the driver, we are not told to rush, our licence will be taken and the company is not going to back us. so my advice ti London drivers is drive within speed limits and do the job for the safety and comfort of the passengers. Thew reason why TFL keep the times giving, is drivers break their necks to keep them. If they drove at right speed they would all be late, TFL would then change the times.
