Real 138 SS-396. According to the original trim tag it was born with a 4-speed, bucket seats, console, and Butternut Yellow. Now it's also upgraded with air conditioning and custom suspension.
EXTERIOR: It has a tough stance, sitting on 15 inch rally wheels but in back they're extra wide and have some fat BFG tires wrapped around them. The body looks clean, I don't see rust or damage. It is straight. Repainted its original butternut yellow with no vinyl top. It has a smooth glossy finish. In back it has the blacked out tail panel, the bumper, trim and taillights have been replaced. SS grills on the hood, emblems, handles were replaced. Up front the bumper and grill were replaced. It is an original rear antenna car, but it has been upgraded with a power antenna. Weatherstrips and window felts were replaced. New windshield.
INTERIOR: The seats have been recushioned and upholstered. Carpets were replaced, embroidered Chevelle mats in front. The door panels, armrests, window cranks and handles were replaced. It has a complete set of seatbelts. Nice center console has a clock and a Hurst 4-speed with a polished T-handle. It looks really good in front of me with a custom set of electronic analog gauges. All the chrome bezels have been replaced. Vintage Air heater control panel and neatly installed vents. A retro stereo fits in the factory hole, it has an auxiliary plug and kick panel speakers. New SS steering wheel on a Flaming River tilt column. Headliner and visors were replaced.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Correct Chevelle 396-350 hp motor. Upgraded Edelbrock intake, Holley Avenger carb and electronic ignition. Upgraded Vintage Air heat and a/c system with a polished compressor. It also has a modern power steering system with a remote reservoir. Billet pulleys, new alternator. Upgraded power brake system. It runs cool with an aluminum radiator, dual electric fans, and a polished overflow bottle. Real nice set of billet hood hinges look great and feel smooth. Under the hood is painted and has hood insulation.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Under the trunk lid and jamb are painted nicely. Solid compartment is neatly spatter painted. It has a jack and spare.
UNDERSIDE: The front end steering and suspension were completely rebuilt and has upgrades: tubular control arms with coilover adjustable gas shocks and Flaming River rack and pinion steering system. Disc brakes in front, e-brake assembly is hooked up. The dual exhaust system has a crossover pipe and Flowmaster mufflers. Looking up at the motor it is clean, it has a high torque starter. Muncie 4-speed transmission.
Service: Our shop inspected the car and we spent $1,104 on service. We realigned the belts, properly routed plug wires and heater hoses, replaced thermostat gasket, repaired reverse lights, replaced fuel sending unit, calibrated the speedometer, replaced a headlight.
Overall nice package. It was born with some very desirable features and a few more were added. It is a great cruise night, Sunday morning go for a spin car that is better than money in the bank!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car, make an appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car, your admission will be refunded, and you will be given a 1 year membership.

I hear ya bro. I hate that look too. Always have. It looks unnatural. These tips stick out so far you could almost walk into them.

Nice potential restoration car. Not a fan of painted over rust frames but Jay is honest in his opinion.
