@@JamesDM4there is a joke card from the joke set Unhunged called AWOL that's text says target card is exiled and then from exiled it's placed in the removed from freaking game forever zone. This is of course a joke about how rarely in tcgs the exiled or banished zones are truly inaccessible and so they make a new one that is for realz this time
@@JamesDM4I can't believe that not a single TCG has ever made a card which both sends a card to whatever 'Exile/Banish' (or just 'really inaccessible') zone and ALSO adds 'the sent card cannot be affected by other card/spell effects' on top of that.
Fun Fact for Riftsweeper: It was played a lot in the early days of Commander. The Command Zone didn't exist originally, instead commanders could just be cast from exile. Additionally, there was the tuck rule, which meant you couldn't move your commander from your deck back into a spot where you can play it. This made it so if you played Riftsweeper, you could essentially move someone's Commander from their command zone to the deck, meaning they'll never get it again unless they tutor or get lucky and naturally draw it again
I thought there was something wrong in this comment so i went to check out and indeed there is Ring of Ma'rûf from arabian nights (even if it looks quite unplayable) that can pull cards back from the former "exile" so a second graveyard has always been there to pull cards out, it just wasn't good
Mirror of Fate may actually work better with Demonic Consultation, as DC allows to exile your entire deck by naming a card that isn’t in the deck. From there, Mirror of Fate would be able to chose seven cards from among all cards in your deck, since they’re ALL in exile
You really need better quality control with your voice over. I feel like every video has an error. Usually it's just a pronunciation error, but not even 30 seconds in and there's a mix up between face-down and face-up cards. I haven't finished watching the video, but I'm willing to bet there will be another error. Edit: 7:15 Kaya the Inexonorable I've finished the video. I just want to preempt any replies, I do like these list videos. Pulling cards from exile is an especially interesting topic. I know I can just read the card or the text put on the screen if there are voice over mistakes. It's just that this is a recurring issue that can be fixed by just watching the video before posting it and rerecording a few lines.
I think the overlooked interesting facet of Mirror of Fate is how it interacts *with* Doomsday. I'm pretty sure you can create an engine where your deck is a selective pool of the cards you need at any time with Doomsday, Mirror of Fate, and Elixir of Immortality
Wasteland Strangler was so good because with Eye of Ugin or Eldrazi Temple it was a 3/2 you could drop on Turn 2. It was an AMAZING tempo play, and was really only beaten out by Thought-Knot Seer... but that required getting lucky with both Eye and Temple on T1 and T2, which wasn't very common. Cards like Vile Aggregate, Eldrazi Obligator, and Eldrazi Displacer saw a similar amount of success for the same reason. Their abilities only ever mattered in the late game, if it even got that far, and it usually didn't because decks during Eldrazi Winter put up so much pressure that games were often finished quickly.
I'm surprised you put Misthollow Griffin there, but not Torrent Elemental. It's got higher toughness, an activated ability to get it from exile, which makes it a lot harder to stop, and one of the best attack triggers I've ever seen!
Just like Misthollow Griffin, Torrent Elemental is another creature that can repeatedly come back from exile. They both make great targets for Scavenging Ooze and similar cards.
(10:38) Or, if you're super duper extremely lucky, you'll pull three gate lands, with one of them being Baldur's Gate, pretty much ruining a Nine-Finger's Keene player's day. Yeah, so... that... actually happened to me one time, and I was the one playing the Keene deck, so that kinda crippled me, as I had no way to regain the stolen lands in my deck.
At my k8tchen table playgroup I run a temur flashback turbo fog deck using Moment's Peace, Mystic Retrieval, n Runic Repetition. Funny thing was when I made it I was sitting right next to my friend who was making a golgari Doubling Season deck but his only win conditions were attack based n mine required on board nonland permanents n he had too much removal like Assassin's Trophy. So every game between the 2 decks ended in him slowly milling out cuz neither of us could kill the other but I had Elixir of Immortality
Ashiok got me in the game. Got invited to a draft this was the first card I pulled. Made a mill deck. Unfortunately one dude paid for it all so the card was his but I made a black/blue mid/mill deck with different ashioks that up to this day will not get out of silver in arena but still has a place in my heart.
"Kaya the Inexonerable" By my drinking game rules, that's a chug: "If he pronounces a card correctly, especially if it's not a very common word, then pronounces it incorrectly later."
rootcoil creeper is a little better than you let on. first you're only going to be playing it in a ramp deck which will have the extra mana for flashback recursion. secondly, the only flashback card that matters here is storm the festival. you use it to get a second crack at basically a win condition, not to play firebolt or something like that again. by no means is it a good card but i did play a lot of simic in that standard.
Riftsweeper. When glissa pays the price of a death wish and brings out a riftsweeper in an EVA ultimate the entire collection just entered the chat. When the entire collection enters the chat and no banlist is in place the deck turns Blacker Lotus and Chaos Confetti into multi dimensional RAM. and Better than One makes the entire Game Store enter the game. The deck can erase all other decks from the game, and then in-game replace them with a deck of your choosing, restart the game with new decks in a Shahrazad emulator mode. Riftsweeper+Death Wish Life and Death. and in an EVA ultimate there is no death once the ultimate infinite loop is online. Winning is not enough. Teaching love in a commander match is better. Showing up and seeing the reaction from others who have not seen but who have heard of the deck is enough. Because even if you lose... you can still win. current commander banlist and rules do not consider turning on a paper quantum capable turing machine on to be an end goal of the format.
For those keeping track of the poor delivery on this channel, which has apparently become the real reason to watch these... His first glaring error happens 30 seconds in. Everyone should feel great about themselves even when they repeatedly half-ass things they're supposedly passionate about. Lower the bar, so everyone can feel good no matter what
