What a wonderful installation of the double doors. Love the end result. Fortunately, you have some 4*4 to work from for the sistering studs. Good idea to scribe the the bottom plate to ensure it was level. Oweking with an already built outside wall can bring many challenges. You find all kinds of things once the wall is opened up. Thank you for sharing. Everyone stay safe warm, happy and healthy. From Henrico County Virginia.
Yeah, I was nervous about this one ever since I partially opened the wall a few months ago. I assumed this was an addition, but after seeing those painted 4x4's I'm pretty sure this room is a converted outdoor patio and seems to be mostly DIY, or not the best builder. It's those jobs that are always problematic, but everything worked out so far.
Hi HB, as someone who has installed many doors your attention to detail is superb!!! I know you probably aren't going to install doors regularly but you could and be excellent at it!!! Have a great week, Timothy
Thanks! I think the huge advantage to this project was the flexible timeline, and the fact my shop is one room over from the install. I could take the wall apart and double check measurements the whole build. I follow some people on instagram that do nothing but make and install doors and it's intense.
The patience and care you exhibit in problem-solving for perfect fitment is quite impressive. The doors turned out fantastic and the install totally professional. Anyone who has not rehabbed older structures can't have a complete understanding of just what you accomplished here. Real strong work there!
HB, WELL DONE, nice job, French Doors are one of the most difficult Frames & Doors to make, until you have to make Bifold Doors, 🚪🚪🚪🤔😱😂. And this is where you need all the expensive tools and machinery., And special cutter blocks, Not the sort of thing you want to invest in, unless you know you have got a lot of work to cover the cost, Good luck with your future projects , I’ll see you’re in the process of doing some cabinets, with self closing hinges very nice, stay safe keep up the great work, France.
Bifold Doors and Shutters are two things I have zero interest in ever making. Yep, I have a credenza build i'm currently working on which will probably be the next series.
Thank you, very impressive work, you are a complete combination, furniture designer and fabricator, finish carpenter, general contractor, the works, all in one ! And, your video work is excellent.
Nice job, the doors look fantastic, it’s always nice to see an install as it highlights what has been made, nothing goes perfectly when remodelling when your working with older properties but you did a great job 👌👌👌👍👍👍🇦🇺
When you get tired of living there, you should stay at my house! (No doors, I promise) Seriously, you did a fantastic job! I'm glad you shared the door from start to finish. That was a lot of work.
Looks great in place. Brought back a lot of memories though I never enjoyed fitting doors. The style and proportions work really well for the house - it's nice to see you outdoors in the sunshine after all that rain. Perfectly judged commentary once again, thank you.
The weather this week is my ideal weather. Sunny, but LOW humidity. High 70s during the day, but cooler at night so windows stay open. I know it won't last, but I'm trying to soak up every minute of it outside.
The garden turned out well last year. I learned a lot, and modified how much and the locations of what I planted this year because I had a tomato takeover last year. So far so good, but squirrels and bugs (thinking slugs) are more of an issue this year already. I've lost a couple plants to pests already.
Yeah it did not clear up, I meant to mention that in the video and forget. So I peeled it off and might try to reapply now that the doors are in place.
Great job! I hv done a lot of doors ? Not those , but with all doors your placing a rectangle in a rectangle? So plumb & level steady it goes!
Thanks

Thanks
They would be hard pressed to find someone who could do better. Great job!

Hi Caitlin. Those doors are gorgeous, and this install showing those tips was brilliant. Thanks for posting the installation!

Excellent DIY! Your attention to detail is awesome! Love the Tinman BTW
Look's fantastic nice job! Nothing is ever what you think is when working on old structures! Awesome job Honey!
Isn't that the truth. And it always takes three times longer than you think.

Seriously, you did a fantastic job! I'm glad you shared the door from start to finish. That was a lot of work.
Thanks! Yeah I want to make a short version video of this whole build from start to finish because it was a nice transformation.

The French doors look great Caitlin. More helpful tips and tricks sprinkled throughout this build. Looking forward to your next project.
Thanks! Next up are a platform bed and a credenza cabinet. Haven't decided which one I'm going to post first.
Once again, Very Nicely Done !

@@HoneyBadgerWoodWorks Sounds ideal. Similar here in Yorkshire, UK today but it won't last either - the rain will come almost like a punishment!
Excellent work, as always! You truly are amazing!
Thanks!
Very nice job 👏👏👏

Question for you. How did your garden turn out, good amount of produce and no rodent pests. Door looks great.
The garden turned out well last year. I learned a lot, and modified how much and the locations of what I planted this year because I had a tomato takeover last year. So far so good, but squirrels and bugs (thinking slugs) are more of an issue this year already. I've lost a couple plants to pests already.
Looks great. Are you going to do the room remodel?
Yes, but I don't know when that is happening, or if I will film it.
Looks really good. I hope the issue with the film resolved itself: looks like it or maybe you removed it ?
Yeah it did not clear up, I meant to mention that in the video and forget. So I peeled it off and might try to reapply now that the doors are in place.
The sign to the left of the doors cracked me up...
Nice
Thanks
I kinda jumped a little when the saw hit the wire.
