It was 1981. Remember it being a good gig.I put the photos on the Fall website a about 10 years back. I keep seeing them crop up all over the place now. I used to go to all the Fall's London dates back then. I still go occasionally now.
I saw them first at Trinity Hall in Bristol , don't remember the year , but they played The Man Whose Head Expanded , Paul Hanley was in the band , Brix wasn't in the band then ! Would've loved to have seen Marc Riley , so I do wonder how long he'd been out of the band at that time !
Makes matteresses uncovered and street signs that you never saw sound as bleak as sadleworth moor on a Sunday...mint vocal atmosphere set up to the song.
Not a bad ethos is it...you should always know what you look like marquis.....of course you should...I always get a wash I don't give a fuck what I look like...haha.. genius
Smiths vocals were authentic Manc' back then. Horrific weird Yank imitation drawl crept in around 1990. Ruined the band's and his own style thereafter.
Ah brilliant. Also a photo taken by me at north London poly!

Gotta love The Fall...
This version of Look, Know might be my favorite fall song.
It's beautiful.
@@ericrhodes5174 This session certainly has my favorite version of "Who Makes the Nazis?" Love the ukelele.
The first full song written solely by Steve Hanley, according to Steve.
@@thisisnotausername me two they nailed it I think they put effort into these sessions also the second track brilliant

I love this version of "Winter". Gimme the lead.
Riveting information

I think the lineup in that gig , was Smith , S.Hanley , Scanlon and the two drummers Burns and P.Hanley !
Fine bit of classic fall scat
Deer Park most possibly the best song written

brilliant...
Asked politely about how to spare an idea about 1981, no problems cutey.
There was a feminists Austin maxi parked outside
With anti-nicotine anti-nuclear stickers on the side
On the inside and they didn't even smoke
Great

Scanlon, Smith, Hanley, Burns & Riley?...
The 24 March ‘81 set (4th, before this one) features Smith, Riley, Scanlon, Hanley x2 and Dave Tucker.
Slang truth
Smiths vocals were authentic Manc' back then. Horrific weird Yank imitation drawl crept in around 1990.
Ruined the band's and his own style thereafter.
