Got to explore some in service and retired 727’s at an airfield, some we couldn’t access like an Emirati one with a golden toilet. Gotta love the rear door entrance.

Bro the 727 is ancient its one of my favorite planes,especially my uncle that runs aerosucre he lets me in some of those,plus,he also lets me use some free samples of the "product" we deliver to especially the capital,bogota,my uncle is really generous,he also provides free samples up to 50 grams for the pilots at the start of the flight.💀

Yea that's why the planes are going to die faster by crashing rather than corrosion or wearing off,he also overweights it as hell with the Colombian,but hey,money is money,can't blame my uncle💀

the 727 is certainly a unique plane among Boeing, the only plane designed by Boeing to have rear mounted engines (the 717 was a bi-product from MD before the merger) and only one to have three engines, the small engines compared to today's planes

There was a variant of the 727 called the 737-200RE or Super 27 that had the same engines as the MD-80 (JT8D-217/219) and it was quite the plane to fly on, it could take off on almost any runway, a couple of south american airlines had them, most notably Avensa from Venezuela (who later sold it to Santa Barbara, also from Venezuela and retired it in 2006), it was the first 727 to recieve the Super 27 conversion in South America, and LAS from Colombia. There was also a charter company from the Cayman Islands who retired it at the beginning 2024.

Id also like to add with the MD/boeing takeover they got the DC-9 which became the 717 around the same time the 757 was out.
I loved flying the Supers. It put MD80 engines on the pods. Great airplane! I wish that it was fully modeled in the sim

The 727 with CFM engines looks like the 717/MD95 with those slightly higher engines, just with a more Boeing-y nose. Maybe even an MD90, which has the same engines as most Airbus A320 with the IAE.
