People need to realise: This was done at 1440p, None of the games tested were VRAM limited, Yes the 3080 has slightly more fps using standard rasterisation - but the 1% and 0.1% lows are better the more VRAM you have so the 3080 is worse there, and the big difference is power draw. The 4000 series is basically the 3000 series but using half the power - sometimes that is very important and is worth considering with the high cost of energy in some countries... I would much rather spend £40-£80 more on a gpu same fps performance, if it means the power draw is less or in this video - half 150w vs 300w
1 and 0.1% fps is made up of a million factors, and not just the amount of video memory, so this thesis is not a plus or a minus. Also the difference of 1 and 0.1% is caused by the "fake FPS" of the DLSS 3.0 technology. without it, the 4060ti has exactly the same 1 and 0.1% and sometimes even worse Also, 10 GB of video memory will be enough for a long time in 1440p, because even now there are no games that can use them and not make it look like they are using them (remember at least the Call of Duty series of games) And personally, I choose the performance of my 3080 with a consumption of 280 watts max, rather than a weak 4060ti with 8 GB for the same money.
There have definitely been poorly optimised games within the last few years. That doesn't mean every recent game has been badly optimised, though. I would say games like Alan Wake 2, Avatar Frontiers of Pandora, and even Cyberpunk, after many updates, are well optimised. With those games, barely any frame spikes, consistent FPS, GPU load is at a stable 99% and not a massive difference between 1% lows and average FPS, and the core clocks also don't fluctuate often, which is good because all of that means a game is well optimised. They are just very intensive and push the limits of current gen hardware. Alan Wake 2 is a large open world detailed game where you interact with a bunch of high res complex graphics and textures that become especially demanding when you factor in rendering techniques like path tracing, where multiple rays are shot per pixel.
Alan Wake 2 is well optimised. Just because it only runs at 25-30 FPS at native 4K max settings with PT on a 4090, that doesn't mean it's badly optimised. A game running at 200 FPS doesn't always mean it's well optimised, as it could be suffering from major frame spikes, inconsistent CPU or GPU usage or another problem despite the high FPS. The same is true if a game is only running at 30 FPS. It doesn't always mean it's badly optimised. It depends on the situation, such as the type of game it is, the resolution and settings you are using, and if you are using rendering techniques like ray tracing and path tracing.

Yes the 3080 has slightly more fps using standard rasterisation - but the 1% and 0.1% lows are better the more VRAM you have so the 3080 is worse there,
and the big difference is power draw.
The 4000 series is basically the 3000 series but using half the power - sometimes that is very important and is worth considering with the high cost of energy in some countries... I would much rather spend £40-£80 more on a gpu same fps performance, if it means the power draw is less or in this video - half 150w vs 300w
Переезжай в Россию у нас электричество копеечное)))
@@yrec2005 "Move to Russia, our electricity is cheap"
You all are paying a different kind of price for cheap electricity though...
1 and 0.1% fps is made up of a million factors, and not just the amount of video memory, so this thesis is not a plus or a minus. Also the difference of 1 and 0.1% is caused by the "fake FPS" of the DLSS 3.0 technology. without it, the 4060ti has exactly the same 1 and 0.1% and sometimes even worse
Also, 10 GB of video memory will be enough for a long time in 1440p, because even now there are no games that can use them and not make it look like they are using them (remember at least the Call of Duty series of games)
And personally, I choose the performance of my 3080 with a consumption of 280 watts max, rather than a weak 4060ti with 8 GB for the same money.
They are never going to optimize AW II.
4060 ti is better choice!
I have an Asus Rog Strix 4060 TI 16gb. and it's a BEAST, while running cold at low watts...haters gonna' hate though.
16GB 4060ti is a joke. You should’ve spent like 30€-50€ more for a 4070 or 4070 super lmao
@@jehtochhh lmao 🤡 card
Lol you could've gotten a 4070 Super for the price you paid for that Asus but hey your loss..
The 3060ti performed better than the RTX 2080 and now this 4060ti not only does not outperform the RTX 3080 but it performs worse, what a joke.
I don't see any reason to upgrade from a 3080 to 4060.
With fsr 3 I get about 115-120 fps in cyberpunk at 4k with my 3080 also frame gen is present
dlss 3 frame generation👍
fsr 3 frame generation 👍
@@pravnavit's pretty shit
Even xess is 10x better than fsr
Shame on amd😂
@@Fronioll9973 Do you even know that fsr frame generation is seperate from fsr upscaling? That means I can use dlss upscaling with fsr frame generation and get literally the exact same result as dlss frame generation. Every single tech youtuber and outlet has said that fsr frame gen is just as good as dlss, so I really don’t know what you are trying to say. Don’t talk about subjects you don’t know a thing about because you just end up looking like an idiot
Nothing radical. RTX 3000-4000 series = gtx 700-900 Playstation 4 era.
Need next gen Pascal decendant with affordable price/performance (RTX 5000/RX 8000). 12 gb and 16 gb vram gpu needs to be affordable midrange.
Maybe 5060ti could defeat 3080 ASAP
"Don't give me hope"
Knowing Nvidia, 5060 ti will be weaker than 4070
There's speculation 5070 will be at best a 4070ti so 4060ti at best will be a 4070 or maybe worse. 5060 worse than 4060ti lol
The 5060ti should be on par with the 4070super or even 4070ti super, the 5070 should be on par with the 4080 super, the 5080 should be on par with the 4090 and he 5090 will become the new goat. However that's wishful thinking.
4k would of favored 3080 even more
Now we know why they gave DLSS3 only to 40 series cards 🤡
Imagine RTX 3080 with DLSS3 xdd - You would not need to upgrade to 40 series at all.
So if you want a good graphic card for 2K or 4K gaming, go for 3080. It will still be good for many years. (If you don't need to play ultra max settings in 4K, 8K new games :P)
If you are building a new pc, then you can go for 4060TI 16GB. And if you can spend couple more $$$ then go for 4070 and you are set for years.
Rtx 4060 ti es una grafica con mejor arquitectura lo dice su consumo de energía
The 40 series is hot garbage, I Skipped this gen, just like I skipped through most of the video. Lower power draw is not an upgrade lol
If the 16gb cost the same as the 8gb…
3080 uses a lot of energy, it's not worth it
당신만 기다리고 있었다고 젠장
The latency on dlss 3 is way too much
в этих тестах rtx3080 каким-то чудом потребляет 300-320 ватт, лимит у rtx3080 340-350 ватт, получается 3080 задушили по потреблению
RTX 4060 Ti is one of the worst GPUs ever made. Along with the 6500 XT, 3050 6GB, and GTX 1630.
nice card for 1080p gaming, low price, low power consumption, I'm satisfied :)
@@godlo24 What the heck is low about $400 for a 1080P focused 8GB GPU? Or $450 for the same GPU but with 16GB?
Price is what's bad about it
It should be a $200usd card in 2024 and it would be fine as entry level.
Mas por que???? Pra mim é uma ótima placa, até porque vc encontra ela usada por preços ótimos, e nova é o valor de uma 3070ti ou uma 3080 arregaçada.
@@NGreedia Exactly, the performance is fine but it should be $300 max or same price but with 12GB of VRAM (the base model)

La 4060 ti 16gb está 20% más barato que la 3080
Depende, acá en Chile la 4060 ti de 16gb cuesta casi 600 dolares y una 3080 de segunda 430 aprox dependiendo del modelo. No sé cuanto costará en otros paises.
