I have a friend that keeps telling me that Caleb is great and will pan out. Yet insists Purdy is mediocre and a product of Shanahan's system. He basically worships at the altar of draft position and will never say otherwise.
Caleb has never played on time/structure. Not in HS, Collage and now the NFL. Caleb has always and continues to rely on what he has always been successful at in HS and Collage, his ability to run around and find an open receiver. The problem is he cannot get away with that in the NFL because defenses lineman are as fast if not faster than he is, that is why he has 67 sacks for over 450 yards lost. He holds the ball too long not on the o-line. He is not tall so he must be excellent at playing on time and within structure to be successful. Under a new Coaching staff focused on developing Caleb he could reach his potential. It is shame his rookie season was lost!
This was my criticism of him durng the draft and why I desparety wanted the Bears to trade the pick and keep Fields. Fields has his own set of problems, but an inferior version of this team won 9 games behind Fields. If they'd of got at least what they got for Bryce Young, the Bears would be in the playoffs. Even if they didn't trade and instead just drafted I think Harrison and Bowers could both end up in the hall of fame. 2 of the best I've seen at their positions in college in maybe a decade.

Fans should only hope Williams hasn’t been ruined. I’m not saying he will become a great or even a good QB, because no one can know that. But he’s the best prospect the Bears have had at the position.
@@DemonEdge82yeah no way they’d take the guy who had the highest passer rating record in his first two years in nfl history. I’d rather have the guy who throws the ball really hard. You’d have picked Caleb over Drew Brees too.
I only watched one complete Caleb Willaims college game, it was the Colorado game. I specifically watched as I had heard all the talking heads tout Caleb as a sure fire NFL QB talent and consensus #1 draft pick. Having played QB in HS on a very good varsity team (Titusville Astronaut in '74/'75), where my Dad (who played QB at West Point) was the OC my two years as starter. I wasn't the most talented guy but had good foot speed and decent arm and having watched tons of 22 film with my Dad, had a very good understanding if his offense and of reading defenses, so I have always thought of myself as a pretty good QB scout. Anyway my takeaway from watching Caleb was he is a guy who is a smooth athlete with good shoulder flexibility who moves well but doesn't have elite footspeed who has a good not great arm who is a modestly built frame with good not great accuracy with a release that is good but not great. He certainly did not jump off the screen like Marino or Elway or Luck did, which are the three best college talents I have ever seen. I had him graded as questionable talent to be a quality NFL starter. Like a lot of QB's, if you surround him with talent he might be a quality starter but he didn't show me the talent to carry an NFL team and always give them a chance to win with him on the field.
Why is Caleb always scrambling so much? Haha. When Mahomes does it (and I hate to compliment him) he looks confident and does it with a purpose. When Caleb does it, he looks like a chicken with its head cut off.
Caleb's scrambles scream "BUT THIS WORKED IN COLLEGE WHY IS NO ONE OPEN!?" and until he accepts that his backyard/sandlot style ain't gonna hack it in the NFL, he's going to continue to look terrible.
@@Darkkfatedit’s almost like he’s a rookie playing a full season in his first year. Oh btw Caleb has more TDs and less Ints than Brock. But that stuff doesn’t matter we only care about QBR right?
Caleb acts like he is a madden character, and not in a good way. Bears coaching staff acts like they have never once played madden, also not in a good way.
Caleb has the skills of a HOF'er and the mental development of a high schooler. I think that's the biggest issue, above even the chaotic coaching situation. He needs to mature, like at warp speed. I still can't get the picture of him leaning over on the bench at the end of that last Vikings game. That's a petulant child that wants to quit, not a professional who is trying to win and certainly not a leader, which the QB must be.
Wrong not the SKILLS, he has the TALENT. Skills are earned. In this league you need the skill of playing in system and the ability to quickly diagnose a defense and go through reads, what Brock is ELITE at. Easily top three in playing in structure.
This a weird video to make on a rookie QB on another team. Feels a bit too personal. There are many bad QBs in the league, never seen you go out your way to point out others individually. Just weird.
For a guy who constantly complains about other being emotional and feelings being behind their opinions, it feels like David has fallen exactly into that trap with his love for Brock so he does stuff like this.
100% chance all of this is forgotten by draft day and we see the same old overvalue of the top picks for QBs Merril Hoge is the only commentator that gets the QBs right almost every draft, year after year. No surprise that he made headlines this year when he said Caleb Williams is not a franchise qb.
I am a Rams fan. I don't have a dog in this fight. The Bears offense has no coordinator. Caleb got blitzed late in the game. He got sacked for 14 yards. You could see it coming well b4 the snap. Did the receiver break off? No. Did anyone block? No. Did Caleb see it pre snap? I don't know but if he did he chose to run backwards to fix it. Stafford would have simply thrown to Kupp who would break off the pattern, easy. This is not on Caleb, it's coaching.
Exactly. It won’t always be a completion, but it won’t be a run-backwards sack. He is a rookie, but he’s getting no coaching help. They had three downs to go 5 yards to get in field goal range on their last drive, and they threw three deep balls, with no shorter routes as option. That’s coaching malpractice
@@scooter5940 I don't know if the young man can play but he was taken 1st and nobody can play QB for the Bears. Crazy pass rush+ no place to throw the ball = shite show. Defenses will blitz until you make them stop.

Streamline the rule book like they should have done for twenty years and get rid of all the old rules that pop up every season in certain games and make no sense and everyone says next season that rule will be gone. Where is the rule committee? Do they even read their own rule book that is like a Tax Code that they expected part time officials to understand and do this job that is their secondary job one day a week in a multi billion dollar company? You think reading a defense is the only thing that matters when Purdy has zero arm talent and speed. Stop moving the goalposts. Caleb has more TDs less interceptions with the worst team in football.
Nobody’s moving the goalposts my team is in the same division I’ve seen him play in college and in the pros and what’s evident about him in college is still evident with him now. Can’t read a defense, can’t handle pressure, afraid to throw the ball anywhere past 15 yards before the second half or before he’s down 20 pts. Puts his receivers in bad positions, infuriates the O-line, horrible leader, can’t handle the blitz or read a defense and he freaking said so himself in the preseason. What’s Caleb done this season and what has Brock done? Lets measure wins and literally getting every teams best week after week while literally nobody could care less about Caleb outside of Chicago. You think anyone fears Caleb Williams?! Lmao 🤣.
It's funny that david can talk about the bears play calling but won't talk bad about Kyle's bad play calling. Caleb williams is a rookie and have fired a lot of their coaches.
This is just weird. A 49er podcaster bashing a qb not on his team. 🤷🏻♀️ Whatever Caleb does has absolutely nothing to do with the 49ers. Ahhhh now I see the motive, he wants to prop Purdy up. Weird way of going about it though.
This is starting to feel personal. It doesn't even make sense to me to compare a 3 year starting QB, whose is in a BETTER situation than a rookie QB. CW is not perfect, but his O line is TRASH, I dont care what PFF says. Purdy is my boy, glad he's a Niner. Purdy has fallen off this year. Niners have O line problems as well, along with injuries. Whats the excuse for Purdy not seeing not seeing the field well and lack of arm strength looked off as well. CW has more TDs and less Ints than BP. Terrible take David 👎
He's praised JD on multiple videos. He hasn't made a specific one about him though. David is just trying to smash the narrative that we shouldn't focus on draft positions, and physical talents.
Daniels is exceeding his draft position, particularly if we're discussing NFL history. His beef is with people that will never give QBs who were drafted later their due, no matter how well they play.
Y’all need to chill on the Caleb hate man. We can absolutely appreciate purdy without shitting on other QBs. Caleb has a horrible oline and is getting hit every damn play. Just give these guys some grace and let them develop.
49ers fans can’t accept that Purdy is mid so they wanna down every quarterback who struggles. Not even worth comparing Williams to Purdy cuz Williams is a rookie on a bad team and Purdy is in year 3 on a stacked roster. David has dedicated entire videos to slandering qbs (usually black QBs) on other teams despite the fact that he covers the niners and is just totally unprofessional per usual.
It doesn’t sound like you have been watching the 49ers this year. This has not been a stacked roster this year. Injuries and bottom of the league oline has made it horrible. Despite no Aiyuk, no CMC, no Trent, fourth/fifth RB, and a mid defense, Purdy has a top 10 QBR and has carried the team at times. Is he Lamar, Mahomes, or Allen, of course not. Mid, lol, of course not. Watch the film break downs and come back to the comments
@@bartoloniorst Purdy hasn’t had the full avengers this year but over his first two years he’s had a stacked team. And yes his qbr still ranks #11 but most other metrics have him middle of the pack. They have the same amount of 300 yard games this season (4). Caleb has MORE TDS AND LESS INTERCEPTIONS THAN BROCK. Every NFL scout would take Caleb over Brock. Stop lying to yourself.
I’d like to see the QB Efficiency graph of all these QBs in their rookie year, or at least their first year as a regular starter if they didn’t start their rookie year. Would Williams still look like one of the worst? I don’t know. Did Josh Allen look like Josh Allen as a rookie? Considering almost everyone in Chicago thought it was malpractice to keep Eberflus as HC for Caleb’s rookie season instead of going for Jim Harbaugh and we have seen the worst fears realised Caleb has shown remarkable resilience. 354 passes without an interception. 19 TDs and only 6 INT. All this has been done in the midst of utter chaos in which he has had 3 OCs and 2 HCs. The current ones being totally out of their depth. Almost every good play is either immediately negated by a penalty or the play after a good play is putting the Bears back to 1st and 20 etc. The quality of coaching has been so poor especially on offense.
Caleb doesn't throw many INTs bc he holds the ball for far too long. He would rather take sacks that fans will blame the on-line for than risk his personal stat line. Ask why does Maye look so much better with worse weapons and just as poor coaches
@ I think there is something in that. He definitely wanted to keep the no interceptions streak going as long as possible. In saying that only 3 QBs have thrown the ball more often than Caleb so it is not like he never throws it.
@@IMAC1776 You're not going to throw many INTs when you're not throwing downfield and have a horizontal passing game. It speaks volumes when you have a 4-11 record and these guys still have Caleb throwing 2 yard screen passes every other play instead of cutting him loose and letting him throw downfield. Everyone blames the O-line, and it is subpar, but Caleb's bad habits of holding the ball too long, missing reads, and his inaccuracy does his offensive line no favors. Even when Caleb gets time to throw he's not accurate missing open receivers way too often which was on full display last night.
Gotcha! Your QB draft order logic has a big flaw: you are failing to account for the fact that the worst teams draft first. Ergo, the more rational conclusion to draw from the data is that to be a good QB in a TEAM SPORT you need a good team around you.
And yet, Clown Wright has Caleb in the middle row (7-10) of his Mahomes' Mountain. It's a joke. I'm a Bears fan and the guy has literally played 3, maybe 4 good games this year. Plus a good 4th quarter vs Washington and a good half vs both Detroit and Minnesota. Other than that, it's been terrible. He CANNOT handle pressure, so teams blitz the living bejesus out of him. Conversely, Wright said Purdy played poorly last game. It's an unfair take even for a pundit who just watches the highlights. Purdy had an outstanding game last week and his INT occurred because a rusher came free suddenly and hit him on his throw. Not sure why people never learn. It's the same endless excuses with Lawrence, Manziel etc, and lower picks keep getting doubted and criticized more even when playing well, like Purdy or Cousins. Acrobatics and draft position is as irrelevant to me as whether they like pie. Can you read defenses quickly, throw under pressure and on time? I have the same issues with Daniels now, whom it is already verboten to criticize in any way: good, you can skip and jump, but will you please keep your eyes downfield and hit your open receivers consistently? @@DemonEdge82 you seem to be talking to yourself.

Lol Yea cuz of the games yesterday. Got my days f'd up lol

Comparing a QB on a bad team top to bottom to another QB on a better coached team with a lot of star players is bad analysis.
Caleb acts like he is a madden character, and not in a good way. Bears coaching staff acts like they have never once played madden, also not in a good way.
Caleb "We won't be punting much" Williams 😊
Well....yeah....the best QB on the Bears is on the bench. Tyson Bagent
I knew this before the draft
Caleb has the skills of a HOF'er and the mental development of a high schooler. I think that's the biggest issue, above even the chaotic coaching situation. He needs to mature, like at warp speed. I still can't get the picture of him leaning over on the bench at the end of that last Vikings game. That's a petulant child that wants to quit, not a professional who is trying to win and certainly not a leader, which the QB must be.
@@tokyosan7906 He’s also too short.
Wrong not the SKILLS, he has the TALENT. Skills are earned. In this league you need the skill of playing in system and the ability to quickly diagnose a defense and go through reads, what Brock is ELITE at. Easily top three in playing in structure.
Sounds like Jeff George to me.
This was a masterclass in Purdy placation. Bravo sir 👏

Merril Hoge is the only commentator that gets the QBs right almost every draft, year after year.

@@Ldog7777 how many of those sacks did williams cause himself because for such a high number of sacks, you can't say the o line just stood there and did no blocking

Their offensive line has ranked highly for most of the year. He's holding onto the ball for an eternity. He needs to get better in the quick game, or he's not going to make it through his rookie contract.
I have watched less football this season in fifty years as a fan. Get a real former player as the commissioner. Get full time officials. No more new rules. The people in charge don't care about the sport. They hype the League 365 and the awful games are an after thought. Have you noticed how many BAD teams are in this League? And it's been that way for a decade. Mediocrity and Parity don't cut it. No wonder they promote fantasy football and sports betting now. The NFL product on the field is Garbage. The nfl is a global mega-corp now. Their main concern is not getting sued. If they cared about player safety they’d get rid of 4 day turnarounds. But they don’t care, so they make more rules/changes to cover their collective ass while they maximize tv revenue

I can’t believe people still believe in Caleb Williams and they all say the same thing “you just don’t know ball” yet they’re too slow to figure out he can’t read a defense..
I find it odd Lombardi didn’t mention Jayden Daniels. He don’t fit his narrative?🤔
Almost as horrible as the Niners vs Rams game 😂😂😂
Y’all need to chill on the Caleb hate man. We can absolutely appreciate purdy without shitting on other QBs. Caleb has a horrible oline and is getting hit every damn play. Just give these guys some grace and let them develop.
The bears are known to ruin QBs
Because David is an emotional Brock Purdy super fan, so he puts down others in order to lift Brock up. Unbiased, objective journalist? Yeah right.
They have the same amount of 300 yard games this season (4). Caleb has MORE TDS AND LESS INTERCEPTIONS THAN BROCK. Every NFL scout would take Caleb over Brock. Stop lying to yourself.
And the 49ers have to improve play calling and game planing also, Purdy throwing lot of interceptions lately too? 🤔
100 agreement from this Packers’ fan.
The only successful passes that Caleb makes seem like a Hail Mary, no offence to the Blessed Mother.

I watched Oregon destroy Caleb last year.
Gotcha! Your QB draft order logic has a big flaw: you are failing to account for the fact that the worst teams draft first. Ergo, the more rational conclusion to draw from the data is that to be a good QB in a TEAM SPORT you need a good team around you.
Hes trash...maybe in like 7 seasons he will have a small measure of success like geno and sam are now after years of being jerked around the league
We all know he would have noticed the QB being hit if his last names was Mahomes.

I'm tending to agree with you IT'S not just Williams, but he is far from demonstrating skill required after 16 GAMES....For the he'll of it let Bagent p!at the last game! This will confirm many problems Caleb also has....
The fact that he wanted part ownership of the team that drafted him should have been the biggest red flag.
Bad QB play and also managing the game was brutal . And play calling
Caleb has elite arm strength and excellent scrambling ability. People confuse this with what a Quarterback is. The QB position is 80% decision making, and Caleb's decision making has always been atrocious. I truly do not believe he can read a defense at the LOS.
