Worked in Blaengarw planted all the tree's 🌳🌳🌳on the old tips by the lake a lovely place. met some lovely people ❤thanks for the video brings back lovely memories 👍
Thank you! Superb re-discovery of a long-lost line - good to see how much remains and that a footpath follows a great part of the length of it - wonderful countryside.
Another remarkably intact abeit overgrown line. Includes a footpath/cycleway along sharing. Least makes things little easier for reopening for garw railway with infrstructure still there
It's a long time since I saw that view from that bridge, my family used the line to Brynmenyn back in the 50s, my Grandparents always called it the gasworks bridge.
@@ollyparry That can be remedied easily, problem with the Margam branch is trains just can't move very fast through it, only 15mph, and the level crossings aren't automated.
What's the story there? I thought there was supposed to be a heritage rsilway taking it over about 10 years ago. They don't seem to have made any real progress.
The railway is dead in the water it's actually run by a good bunch of men that have no idea how to renew the track to pontrhill if a new track was laid to pontrhyll then they could start a service but it will never happen in fighting amongst members has spoilt the progress of of this lovely valley railway

Now that was really interesting with track and signals still in situ. Possible starting place for a heritage line? Thanks for the upload.

Great intro. showing the "carn on the right , lived there between 81-84 :)
Nice film....now have a desire to cycle the route
I remember going on a railtour which got as far as Pontycymmer in the early 90s, and also included a crawl down the fright line from Tondu to Margam.
that's still there
yea buts its only used by freight or diversions when the line between bridgend and swansea is closed. in addition its extremely overgrown

lets get a rail cart on there
Is the llynfi arms and the Nicholls arms still open I haven't been there since the 70s.
They could set up a heritage line there is loads of track left just reconnect the missing sections
garw valley railway are in the process of that.
in 2015 they laid 66km of track i believe
@@ollyparry 66 kilometres? That's impossible
@@ollyparry No, the length of the line is 5 miles (8km) and they don't even operate over one third of that.
How long has this been disused?
@@chayevans160 Thanks for the info. I didn't have a clue
Was that bird singing following you?

Hywel James in 2015 they laid 66km of track and built pontycymer station, but nothing else has been said since
@@ollyparry Please fact-check before you post. The route is 8km long in total, and they haven't made any significant process for 20 years.
