The greatest players have the simplest techniques that you can just watch over and over again and learn. Too many coaches on youtube confuse the basics by making the serve too complex than it already is. Just watch Isner, Djokovic, Sampras, Opelka, Federer, etc. and adapt their technique. It helped me improve my serve which went up from a 3 to an 8 within a month, practicing for an hour 2-3 times a week. Don't listen to anyone. Just go by yourself with a tripod, set up a camera to capture your before after. Just remember: toss with your shoulder and throw your racket at the ball at the highest point.
As a beginner, i tried replicating all the greats with no luck, but then one day, i tried Novak's serve, and things starting clicking into place. For me, the lazy wrist in the beginning of the take back, really helps create the whipping effect that I've been looking for.
If I played tennis I would pick Novak's serve, its rock solid reliable, accurate and fast but most importantly his technique for delivering it is so simple and fluid. He doesn't get as many aces as guys like Isner but many players have trouble returning Novak's serve due to its power and accuracy so in a way he gets an ace by making it almost impossible to return his serve, that's as good as an ace.
Federer's serve is faster but not better in my opinion, I would pick Novak's serve all day long, its such a simple action serve but so reliable and hard to read and return. Roger uses more body action to generate the power but Novak's serve just seems to flow without much effort or stress on his body, poetry in motion.
Federer's serve is much harder to replicate, at least for me a newb! I've been practicing replication Djokovic's serve, and I agree that it flows better with my body.
Federer serve is a masterpiece stroke, but Djokovic has developed a great serve too. And you’re right it’s incredibly fluid and simple. And effective. Worth copying.
Djokovic has dramatically changed his serve preparation. He used to have an elbow extremely low wheras now his arm remains bended at 90°. It is much cleaner now and way more relaxed. This turned his serve into something I didn't care about into a motion I aim to copy regarding this.
This was only the case in late 09 and 2010. Pre 09 it was absolutely perfect. Todd Martin screwed it up. It was never never again as fluent as in 07-08
Djokovic's serve is not the prettiest. It's a bit abbreviated and I wouldn't say it's a weapon, but it's definitely rock solid and efficient. For Djokovic, that's good enough.
@@T31-e2y I would consider a serve a "weapon" if you get a lot of aces, service winners, or numerous winners or forced errors from the resulting weak return of the serve. Novak doesn't have this, but he does have a serve good enough to build points and keep him on offense (for the most part).

This actually is fucking great advice
Good tips, also tossing the ball out in front is one thing people often miss. I
Can someone explain the "toss with your shoulder" ?
Am french
@@tennischampagne no wrist/fingers/elbow action on the ball. Straight arm thats lifted up at the shoulder.
@@tennischampagne instead of using your elbow joint to toss the ball, use your shoulder joint… gives you a more solid and accurate toss

what a beautiful power transition from back to front foot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice. I like that you include serves into the net and long balls, there were a number of both when the camera angle allowed it.
His serve is so much more efficient than it use to be.
Can thank Ivanisevic for that

Federer's serve is better, I would pick his serve

Who is the best server on the ATP tour?
Surely raonic
Right now, it's Isner
Kyrgios
Raonic, kyrgios,isner, Federer, wawrinka
@Victoria Minh P Nguyen yeah I would agree mainly because he can disguise it well, so hard to predict its landing.
Watching this again to remind myself to toss the ball first, and then load. I'm currently still doing both simultaneously.
if you don't show where the ball is tossed, what the slow motion is useful to?
I would like to the the contact motion between the racket face and the ball.
nice
Great video. What camera did you use?
Would have been a great reference clip if you could see the full ball toss and him actually strike the ball…..
How many FPS?
Which leg is he pushing off from?
Not actively pushing off. The jump comes from the hips moving into the court. Weight is on front foot
Isner serve slow motion
Thanks, but this video is bad !. The most important thing is that the point of contact between the ball and the tennis racket is not visible!
You clearly didn't watch it properly, plenty of contact points in the video.
@@LoveTennisOfficial for the most part it isnt though
It’s the mechanic of the serve, not where the ball is hit. Shows everything you need to learn from his serves.
He is doin everything right but it seems he is lacking a few mph
I would like to say del Potro but because of injuries he can't play, so I go for Federer!

Correct
He also has a good kick on the second serve, hasn't he?

Maaaaan what about screen the contact with the ball? Unbelievable, hahahah. Wtf
Novak's toss is always vertical...and doesn't curve back like RF
Raonic
Sampras
Isner
Sampras ferderer raonic
