It's very sad that this track was not added to the Eccojams Vol. 1 The best vaporwave track I've ever heard. It sounds so atmospheric and melancholy. It makes me feel extremely good and sad at the same time
Yeah what he DID put on Eccojams was an extended mix of the sample that only briefly pops up in this video. I can see why he wouldn’t put this on an album though because this track is so tied to the visual component.
The original song is fascinating - it has a vocal effect that's the spitting image of autotune, but from 1991. It's a vocoder, but it has the same kind of stepped style as later autotune songs.
The joke is that down that alley on the left is a series of difficult, time-consuming, opposite-of-fun battles that you will die several times trying to complete just so you can go on to the next part of Manhunter: New York. This is the last screen you see before you die a bunch, and you return here when you do die.

This reminds me when my dad would play 80s music in the car and we'd pass by these smaller stores with so much lights while it's night, and it'd be freezing cold, there would also be old houses that no one has entered and they would have broken glass on the floor, grass that has not been maintained, and broken fences, but that still left a pleasant memory in my head.
I found this video about a year ago. At the time I had very bad insomnia, and I would sleep 2-3 hours on a good day. Every night though, in my trance-like exhaustion, I would play this song, and slowly drift into a nearly sleep-like quasi-consciousness. No drug could possibly have the effect on me that those trances had on me. Never.
I believe death is/will be something much stranger than anything most human beings could ever imagine, I feel this art is reaching from deep within ones mind/soul/body to areas I know most people are not able to understand/comprehend when looking beyond infinite. This art is a glimpse into a human beings true psyche, and the yearning for truth in which we all share - when one day we will all come to find.
Its repetitive melodies and glitches are perfect depiction. In near death experience there're certain memories or process take dominant, like our brain can't function normally anymore so it put last effort in grasping fading moment in life while avoiding the reality. Watch " everywhere at the end of time" you'll know what i mean.
Very well said, as humans it's so hard to grasp and comprehend infinity but this song is almost like that. It's very unnatural. Almost as it is not supposed to happen, or something. 4:20

Boards of Canada has 3 albums that predate ecojams by about 18-13 years, and some of the tracks actually seem to sound a lot like vaporwave, vaporwave is supposed to evoke a sense of anemoia(the feeling of nostalgia for something you have not experienced) and the way the boards do it is by recycling audio from commercials and tv shows, something that they’ve done frequently since their first known releases, there’s even an interlude in old tunes vol 2 that is just a commercial.
When you realize you're staring at electrical signals being projected onto a plastic screen, reading comments from people you likely will never meet in your entire life.
I've been coming here for years. This video has given me direction and determination for how I plan to live my life, in a way that no other media ever has. You can commune with God through this video.
I think the scariest and best part about this video, is the eeriness and uncertainty of it all. The alleyway to the left that can lead to anything, or that something could come out of, the inability to move or turn around, forcing you to view this scenario, while also meaning that anything could be behind you, the closed-door with a bouncer in front of it, just slowly bobbing his head to the muffled song inside. The idea that you don't know what is on the other side of that door, and what you're walking into - or what might come out of it - could result in death, or worse -- eternal torture, as a result of the viewers' own twisted curiosity. 2:44 could be a sign of the person we are living through in the video going insane, either from past experiences before they died, or the pain of not knowing what's ahead of them, what's in the alley.....waiting, or what's behind the door of a building, sloppily labeled "Wretched Excess"

I remember driving around at 4am when I was 20, listening to this song over and over and over again, waiting for an auto shop I needed to go to to open. For like 2 hours straight, just nothing but this song. I even made a 30 minute loop of it because of how obsessed I was with it.
It's so nice to read comments like this. I used to fall asleep to the first part looped all night long. I will never shake how this song and visuals became a part of my DNA.

Ayo bro i think this sample was used on Vektroid's telnet erotika, which itself is one of the first vaporwave albums as well coming out 3 months after eccojams and is a tribute to opn in itself. This was before she made floral shoppe so i suggest you give it a listen. It was released on her bandcamp as telnet complete and it sounds better in that version. The track is "Motions Feel" btw. roses are red
this song gives lots of emotions
but most importantly,
𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
rhyme god
Thank you for this!! This scares me.
the visual looks like something you would see in an old irrelevant philips cd-i game that has a fanbase of 2 people
that doesnt mean that its bad or anything it just means that it looks lost
2:44 the sample is Lonely by Janet Jackson
Thank
Everything you make is like some kind of wonderful dream and the imagery is perfect
Hi-
@@cryglitter Greetings from 2010. Is the future still there?
@@borealnetwork Yes. Terra still exists. But not for long :(
@@cryglitter I'm sorry to hear it. We'll have to up the tempo to get the dancing done in time.
@@borealnetwork I don't get it.
An absolutely perfect combination of music and visuals. I could watch/listen to this for hours.
Goes to show that even Vektroid knew about the whole sunsetcorp thing before a lot of people and before vaporwave even got its name. She used to call it MS-DOSWave or something like that.
bett. ima check it out rn
Listening to this song at these hard times...it gives another meaning, especially because the video title...
i come here at least once a year
OPN never ceases to amaze!
This kind of aesthetic was being done in 2010, too? Wow, I thought that was just a recent thing.
lmao
Nah, at the time it was really just Daniel Lopatin experimenting with stuff. But then people started copying him, and, well...
ur LATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Late to this channel, not really late to the party. I've always liked retro style stuff.H

10 years later and counting, the meaning behind this has not yet been fully understood...
