A fire came within 600 metres of the western edge of Braidwood at the start of 2020. Last time it burned from near Braidwood to the coast as one major fire was in 1984 or 1985, my dad was telling me (i was 2 or 3 years old at that time) We have had alot of rain since then and we even had flooded areas.
On my first post-fire trip up the Kings Hwy I couldn't believe how thorough the fire had been in that even in areas of green pasture it burned the tops of the tussocks.
