- On the overnight ferry from Lerwick (Shetland Isles) to Aberdeen (Scottish mainland), via Kirkwall (Orkney). The video shows the departure from Lerwick (with a surprise right after departure!) and the sail along the east coast of the Shetland Mainland. Passing Sumburgh Head and then the crossing to Fair Isle. That island is passed on the west side, while it shines in the evening sun. Onwards to Orkney. In the meantime some gannets fly over. Along the east coast of the Orcadian Isle of Stronsay. After passing Auskerry Lighthouse, a sharp turn to the west, to approach Kirkwall. Night view of Kirkwall during the stopover there. Then bedtime. Next morning, a quick view of Aberdeen from the sea. Then entering the harbour and the docking procedure.
The ferry service is operated by NorthLink Ferries (Serco).
