Nice video, I've been there about half a dozen times over the years. Always pleasing to see these trolleybuses still doing sterling service in retirement. The dedicated members do a wonderful job at restoration and upkeep of these vehicles. A glimpse into the past. ;-
Thank You. I agree with you. The Trolletbus Museum is a great place. It certainly is like stepping into the past. Full credit to the guys that restore these vehicles and allow us to go down memory lane. Its been quite a time since I was last there and had plans to pay another visit Then the world turned upside down with Covid 19.
I saw a sign that said "No Entry" except for trolleybuses", this reminds me of the 654 route at Spurgeons Tabernacle to West Croydon which was one way (not now) from West Croydon to the Tabernacle, but not for the 654 trolleybus, but if you caught 68 (a petrol bus), they had to turn right at the Tabernacle and go along Oakfield Road.
mollsmyre Being an ex-bus spotter from the early 60's in London, I know I would enjoy it. I remember going round the back of Colindale bus garage when it was being used as a Trolleybus scrapyard and feeling sorry for all those old vehicles :(
RickInDorset I restored 1348 with John Crossley, with others helping out at times. For my thanks I was banned, as they told me it couldn't be done, and I proved them wrong. I did 203,204 and many others, 45 years of my life spent.
A great event for sure, and an excellent record of the weekend, nice one Tommy. I really must try and get there again someday, it's always an enjoyable place to visit.
Being born in 1961 I can 'just' about remember the trolleybuses in Maidstone. My grandparents lived in Postley Road so I may well have seen the brown and cream, Maidstone Corporation no. 72 while it was in service.
I hope you read my reply to your comment. This particular Ziu-9 was donated to the museum from the Athens Electric Bus Company in Greece. Those trolleys were purchased from the USSR in the late 70's till the mid 80's, actually the particular one, the "facelifted" one, is from the last batches. They served their purpose very well, they were very characterful, and were in service until 2004, when almost all were donated to the city of Belgrade in Serbia. I have very fond memories going around Athens in these i am truly happy it survived.
