Thank you for the comment and I do use other software from time to time in my editing workflow. Luminar Neo is a fun program to use though.

    Thanks for the info.
I downloaded Neo - trial and playing around with it. There are some nice tools in there to help on the creative side. Always like having extra tools. I'll be adding this to my arsenal and will use your link for the download. Thanks again and have a blessed New Year.

Luminar is a fun tool that can get you some amazing results. I also use it as a plugin primarily since most of my editing happens in ON1, but there are some cool things you could do with Luminar. Thank you for the support and if you have questions about the software, just let me know.

Chris: I watched the video even though it was not On1 specific. It is a good lesson regarding HDR. Of course, HDR is meant to shoot in scenarios where the dynamic range is high in order to be able to wrangle the over and ender exposures. That trick that Luminar does with the 1 photo merge is a neat trick. I'm glad you did this video. It does help to prove that Raw is great to shoot in, but it isn't the best solution 100% of the time. Enjoy your day and my final thought...nice shot of your bathroom. ;-)

Hey Danny always a pleasure to hear from you! I truly appreciate your support even though this is not a program that you use regularly. My goal is to bring awareness to other software outside of ON1 because I do use a few programs in my workflow with ON1 being the central point. When it comes to HDR merging you are correct in the idea of being able to keep shadows and highlights in check, but it could also be an artistic option as well. I often find my HDR images to inspire me to do new things with lighting that I usually wouldn't do with a single exposure. RAW is a very powerful method of capturing a scene, but as you mentioned it is not always the right solution to the problem.
Thanks for the kudos on my bathroom shot. I like to keep it classy...

I often take an HDR and a raw image. I use a Mu43 camera and find with the limited dynamic range I use the HDR image often

That is a great reason to bracket the images and merge them in post. I think this technique lends itself well to overcoming limitations from our equipment or environment. Thank you for sharing.

Great video. I often bracket and merge into HDR with ON1 and/or Neo. For bracketing, do you recommend shooting the brackets in RAW or Jpeg? Also, I use Neo as a plug in to ON1 as Neo's Catalog Asset Manager isn't the best. It would be great to see a video on your work flow starting in ON1, and using NEO for finishing touches. Thanks!

Hey Mark thanks for this comment and I too use Neo primarily as a plugin to ON1 or Photoshop. Most of my HDR merging happens in ON1 but I also merge in Luminar if I feel I am not getting the best result from ON1. Making a full video of the workflow isn't a bad idea so let me add that to my list of video topics.
When it comes to image type, RAW vs JPEG I always recommend using RAW if you have the storage and the understanding on editing a RAW image. With that said, I have gotten some great HDR blends using JPEGs in the past, but they are not consistently producing the look I prefer in my images. RAW files will give the most dynamic range because of the details preserved in the shadows and highlights of the file.
Lastly, I concur with the photo manager in Luminar needing some work. ON1 as of the time I am responding just released a tool I am really excited about which is auto stacking. I find this tool extremely helpful when photographing in brackets.
