I really loved the garbage pail kids too! Every once in a while I come across them and of course want to buy them….but I need nothing else in my house!!!!! Lmao
I only ever iron fabric for making minis. I use a hair straightener bc I dont own an iron lol Never toss any minis unless they're dangerous (sharp, broken etc). I've kept dangerous minis and reused them myself. Others I've sold as-is in lots. Congrats on your treasure! I can't wait until you find the table!
only the bed was tossed, it was broken and smelled. Everything else was salvaged and placed on eBay as-is for someone to do what they can with them! Me too! very happy about that treasure and now looking forward to finding the piece that goes with it!
52:32 The width of that bed is known as ¾ width. Back on the 1920s that was a popular bed size. Of course that was before they had anything larger than a full size (double) bed. The sizes available then were junior (smaller than a twin), single (twin), ¾, and full (double). This was before youth, queen, king or west coast (California) king sized beds were a thing. My grandparents still had a junior bed when I was little (in the early 60s). My little sister slept on it until they got us matching twin beds in '66.
This is great info! thank you so much for sharing! I love furniture and was in that industry for a long time. Always new info to learn, thank you so much, very appreciated!
@@WhitneyLaBrie A great source for period information is old Sears & Roebuck and Montgomery Ward catalogues. You can often find reproductions of these old catalogues in the library. That's actually where I got my information from originally, then confirmed it by asking my grandparents who were born in 1914. Unfortunately, almost all of the old guard are gone now, but the written information is still available.😉

For some reason that really impacted me becuase it was the first time I thought of my grandma being little like me, and that she valued something so simple like a rocking chair. Interesting haul- I do like Strombecker but so much of it is smaller than 1:12. I do have 2 old chairs and they are 1:10- I'd rather take larger than 1:12 like those, rather than smaller.
I like Strombecker too, so well made and they did a great job of making good furniture for kids to actually play with. Yeah I agree about the scale, I've used some of it for 1:12 children's furniture because the scale is often small.
The blue trash can is from the 1980s - it also came in grey and held hard candy shaped like pizza slices and other trash. I have two from my childhood; I bought them at a 7 Eleven gas station. Fun haul! I love the wooden octopus.
Garbage can candy!!! 😂😂 It was shaped like fish skeletons, I think an old sneaker was in there, a rat, smashed tin can, and I can't remember what else was included. Aahhh...memories🥰The yellow and red items you were unsure of their name, are marker buoys. They're used to mark shallow areas, deeper channels, and generally any other water related potential hazard. I chuckled to myself when you sniffed and then accurately identified the odors emanating from some of the items! I chuckled because I do the same thing! LOL 😂😂 I imagine so many of us have that super power 😂😂! No no no! Don't pitch it 🥺 The hole can be repaired very easily and it's super cute!!Congratulations finding your treasures mini!! ❤
lol! I was so bummed with the smoke smell. It's funny cause in my teens and early twenties, I smoked (tell no one!). Ever since I quit, it's like I am oddly sensitive to the smell. Yes, I salvaged all the items with issues except the pink bed frame, it was just too damaged, and the wood was balsa, it smelled and I have plenty of wood scraps. I was so happy about the tv! Oh how I have wanted that forever it feels like!
So much fun to be had! I love too many things in this unboxing. If I remember right there was candy in that trash can lol. I’m so happy you found your treasure. I was getting a little nervous for you. I’m starting to really love the Petite Princess items thanks to your wonderful finds. I was mesmerized by the groovy screen on the TV. I hope the stand is in the near future for you, you know, less than ten years 😂. Much love to you xx
Oh I know, I really hope I can get my hands on the stand much sooner than 10 years! lol. That little trash can of candy was so fun, who knew we would want it for future dollhouse projects! I probably tossed out at least 5 when I was a kid, oh the 80's! The draw to Petite Princess was a little slow for me initially because of the scale but over time, as you know I've fallen in love!
Hey! Hey! I KNEW as soon as you said you got something you’ve been searching for for years …. It had to be the TV! I’m so thrilled for you! Wahoooooo! I so remember having that same TV - on the cart - in my Princess Petite Dollhouse, when I was young! I knew if you saw this haul, it would be possible that you would be one of the very few in my mini world that may know what it was before I located in one of those boxes! I was thrilled when I saw it peeking behind some other items in the lot, I wasn't sure what kind of condition it was going to be in so I was very happy when it was in pretty good shape! yes I need to see your minis from your epoch haul! can't wait!
Ha, garbage can candy!!! I had a few of those as a kid, so I would have garbage cans for my dollhouse!! I bought the hand truck for my farmhouse workshop!!! 😊
I quilt so I definitly iron. Have never ironed my clothing though. Living in CA all I wear is shorts and T-Shirts, and who would iron those when all you are doing is going to the beach anyways! HA!
Maybe that's why I don't iron! I'm in So Cal and between shorts, t-shirts and flip flops there's no reason for an iron! But yes I own one too..for crafting mostly. :)
I recently came across some Petit Princess items ~ had never heard of them until I saw your hauls (see? I DID pay attn!!!). I now have a small collection. Not sure what I'm going to DO with them, but the price was right (I was given a bunch of items and only one I paid $15 for so yeah ~ I had to have them!).
there is something special about those pieces, maybe because they were really the first realistic furniture that had this "on trend" fashionable style for the time. Prior to that you were really limited to traditional and victorian type furntiture. Then came Petite Princess with these modern curves and bright fashion fabircs and colors and oh sweet it is! $15 is a score and as a "mini hoarder" I am quite proud of you! lol
You might try cleaning the smokey items best you can and then put them in a large plastic tote that can accommodate them along with a small wide mouth container filled with real (not imitation) vanilla. Back in the day before low odor house paint we used to put the vanilla into glass pie plates and close the door to the freshly painted room. The vanilla would absorb and nutralize the paint fumes. Not sure if it would work for cigarette odor but I think it might be worth trying.
