An introduction to Rameau's HIPPOLYTE ET ARICIE - Nationaltheater Mannheim

Director Lorenzo Fioroni and conductor Bernhard Forck shed light on the genesis of Hippolyte et Aricie, Jean-Philippe Rameau's first opera composed in a time of upheaval. Set between the Ancien Régime and the Revolution, the opera is equal parts formalist and groundbreaking, a balancing act for which the Mannheim premiere finds spectacular visual and musical forms of expression.
