Chief, for your protection increase your situational awareness. My father taught me that, he was very street smart and a badass. I am not transgender but some people have thought I might be because I am 5, 7 and built very strong for a female. Her story and mine are like alot of us in the military. I served 7 deployments and two different war zones. I was awarded the purple heart after 7 ied attacks and 1 morter through the back of a humv. I stopped hiding in 2014 after retirement. I learned after many years hiding in the dark will tear you apart. I was married had kids and still couldnt break away from the real person i was. But after the big D and getting to let my kids know who i really was life got so much better. So ya i know the struggle. My old combat buddies pit two and two together and now they respect me and understand that the old person is still there but better.

@ONE TWO Obviously, not completely; but I do applaud him for being true to himself, and doing what he feels right in his heart.
Look, transitioning is not easy. I'm happy with my choice to take this path, but we are seeing many people encouraged or even pushed to go this way, when it's not the right path for them. We need people to provide that perspective, to ask the hard questions, and to help others truly make sure what they're getting into before they make the choice to transition.

@@noneyun9943 I read the article. I feel badly that he is so conflicted. I do not believe he was brainwashed, and I do not believe he was used as a pawn. I believe he changed his mind, had a change of heart which is totally reasonable. I also agree that there is major MAJOR issues with young people seeking "gender affirming care" as its called. I think even considering anything other than giving these young people a safe space to TALK about their feelings is completely absurd. Children must be protected from adults with agendas.

Fast forward 4yrs........
Beck has had a change of heart since this film was made. i just believe we should all live and let live. she was in her 40s when she transitioned. Now for some reason, she is blaming everyone else for her transition. she claimed from the age of 4 or 5 she felt she was a woman. She had no one to confide in back in the 70s. Now she wants to shut down all transitioning clinics. What if she had those clinics as a child? i cannot pretend to know why she or other transgender people believe they were born in the wrong body. i just believe they need to live as the gender they were born as and dress as the gender they think they are. WHY? because after puberty, men will never, no matter how many hormones they are given, look like the gender they were not born as. If they are not prepared for the judgment of the simple-minded, they will never be happy. They need to test the waters and their mental strength to deal with the loons who will harass them. while i believe most females will manage to look male after the transition. males will have less success simply because after puberty their testosterone has already kicked in and their bodies have already started to look, male. Kristin Beck is obviously intelligent. i believe her military success was her intelligence, not her masculinity. Why she never felt comfortable in the body she was born in is a question for long-term mental health. for over 40ty years she lived with her beliefs. Once she got out of the military, she took a huge step without really considering everything that that step would create. she should be permitted to live as she pleases. she deserves it
