  • Diesel has returned from York as the station pilot of Wellsworth. At first his personality is the same but when a visiting diesel came to the Island, he had shown another side to him. Be sure to see the season finale next month on Christmas Day (AEST) which is Christmas Eve in the Northern side of the earth.

    I like how Diesel actually called Edward by his name instead of by an insult. If he was as pompous as he was, then Diesel would've called Edward by a bad name like 'steam kettle' or something. Really shows he's changed!

    I think Diesel telling Spamcan off could be proof that he's changing his views towards steam engines, even if it's just baby steps.

    Now I liked this episode. Glad to see Diesel acting his age for once and passing that knowledge to another pompus diesel. Loved the little interaction between D199 and Bear.
    XD, that last line! Edward: "So, you may have some good in you, eh?" Diesel: "You're just crazy Edward."

    I love this episode, the part where Diesel scold at D199 was hilarious! "Oh shut up!" XD

    Nice to see Diesel back after his long absence. It was also nice to see "Spamcan" back again, along with the references to his debut. Ten years ago, I bought the complete collection of the RWS from books 1 - 26 (No Christopher Awdry stories alas), so I had no trouble following along. Love these stories of yours and I look forward to your Christmas Special. I also find it interesting seeing Henry passing D199 in the siding at 4:30. I bet Henry was probably thinking "Not him again! What trouble is he looking for now? I still remember having to haul him and his train around with a jammed regulator." Super Rescue is one of my favorite stories.

      I felt it was about time "Spamcan" was brought up...

    Love how each story is building off one another, seeing Stanley leave and Diesel's storyline resume as he takes his place. Very well done. I really enjoyed this one. On a side note, check your inbox. ;)

    Nice episode! And it's good to see that diesel is back and that he has changed a little. And am I the only one that was so surprise that diesel stood to D199 for Edward? Also, I had a feeling that diesel would be coming back after seeing episode 28. Anyways, You nailed it once again!

    I had a feeling Diesel was the shunter for Wellsworth, but I also had a thought of Adam being the shunter for Wellsworth. I guess you know why. But it's good to see Diesel changing a little bit and to see Diesel putting "Spamcan" in his place.

      He stood up for him, but it isn't shocking he's denying it. I might add furthermore that perhaps he only stuck up for him because he had been called a gronk as well as the fact that Edward's moment was an accident, whereas if Diesel had somewhat influnced the breakdown he may have not been so defensive. But that's just a guess.

    That was excellent. Spamcan returning to Sodor and Bear talking to him first was a superb idea :). I cannot wait to see the Finale :D.

    Very well done. You handled D199's return rather well. I'm particularly glad you avoided the boring cliche where a Diesel brags about being reliable and ends up breaking down or gets in an accident of some kind. Yes D199 did get a lesson from Diesel but you done it in such a way that D199 was given something to think about without having become a victim of some terrible misfortune himself. Diesels getting all uppity and breaking down had been done to death (even in the RWS books) so it's good to see a story that leans in a different direction and certainly interesting to see Diesel as the voice of reason which is exactly what we should expect from an engine that's had years of experience. Diesel could have laughed with D199 but it's far better to see him thinking back on his own experiences :)

    • @Dat-Mudkip
      @Dat-Mudkip 9 років тому +1

      I agree that cliche is annoying.
      Weird enough how you'd think the nickname "Spamcan" itself would have him keep his yapper shut, but I guess he didn't learn already. And I wish to further point out that (while extremely unlikely), there is a small chance that Spamcan could be "removed" from preservation and (worst case scenario) be scrapped or turned into a generator.
      I bring up the generator as Salty's real-life counterpart was to be scrapped, but it was decided to strip the engine down and turn into a generator. To this day, that thing is still pumping out electricity.

    Well, my guess was wrong, but still, it's good seeing you make good of Diesel's good side.

    8:07 D199 calls Diesel Gronk. Is this a connection to the British Railway Series?

    • @NWR1991
      @NWR1991  9 років тому +11

      The term 'Gronk' is just a nickname given to the 08 class shunters over the years by railwaymen and enthusiasts. There is no connection towards the BRWS as Simon named the character 'Gronk' after the nickname.

    Just out of sheer curiosity, will Tornado ever make an appearance in your series, since this is set in the present day? It'd be pretty interesting to see Britain's newest steam locomotive visit the North Western Railway.

      No they won't appear. My series is focused on the year we are now so Flying Scotsman is unlikely due to its restoration and Mallard is in stable condition also there models won't work in Trainz due to no backwards compatibility

      Yes it is, but the NRM is hoping for its return in Summer 2015. But all my episodes are planned and I have no intention to use him in my series in future

      +NWR1991 I have a question why didn't Diesel like being called "Gronk" by D199?

    • @NWR1991
      @NWR1991  8 років тому +1

      Colby James - It's not that why he's cross with D199, it's because D199 is ordering him about and it's his attitude as well towards the steam engines. I was making Diesel growing up and acting his age after his time at NRM off screen.

      remember ep28 Stanley was now assigned to work on Thomas' branch line and TFC thought of bringing in a shunting engine for wellsworth and I believe in the comments I said its going to be Diesel and few days later this episode came out
