I wrote the answer as B as well but now I can see why they said C is the answer since it is clearly written the city was bombed twice and nothing was left apart from the ruins. Hence, deducing that many people were killed and since it is also not mentioned that the city was renamed during ww2 or after that and other 2 options also doesn't make sense so mass killing seems to be the correct choice

Yeah. It’s something I think is true because all other ones are not right. I thought B is correct since nothing is mentioned about mass killing!
