Transfer Audiobook Distribution from Findaway Voices to Google Play Direct | Self-Publish Audiobooks

- Back in February, right around the time the Findaway Voices renewed Terms and Conditions were making waves, I got an email from Google Play Books that authors can now directly publish their audiobooks on the platform!
OH MY GOSH!! Finally!!
But I didn’t jump to do this right away.
All my audiobooks with wide distribution were currently on the Google Play Store via Findaway Voices. To me, this wasn’t a MUST do item. It was a “nice to do sometime”. And I while Google play made it clear that I needed to complete a title transfer form, I was anticipating that this could be tricky.
Well, I finally got around to submitting the form. I thought I would have to do a form for all 9 books that could be transferred. Nope, it was one form and I listed all the ISBNs in one form. Within two hours the books were transferred.
Oh, that was easy.
So now, when you purchase any of my audiobooks via the Google Play store I’ll get a better cut of the royalty and you get the same exact audiobook you would have had last month.
For authors watching this, I can tell you the transfer process was seamless and painless. As for uploading a new audiobook directly, I’ll let you know about that process when I have a new audiobook to upload.
Now I have to go update all my Author Your Ambition Books…

Great video, as always, MK! I'm about to upload my first ever audiobook to Findaway Voices today. Should I de-select Google Play and then submit there directly? TIA.
You can! It depends on what you value most: 1. easy to upload, easy to manage is just use Findaway Voices. 2. Get more on each sale and get more tax documents at the end of the year is going direct with Google Play and using Findaway Voices for the other retailers.
@@1MKWilliams Thank you! I love that you reply to questions. (Not all UA-camrs do.) I went with easy, but maybe later I'll do the title transfer you suggest. Another question: Although Findaway distributes to the "holy trinity" of ACX--Amazon, Audible, and iTunes--Findaway will take a cut before ACX takes their cut, is that correct? So it's better to use ACX for those 3 outlets?
@@DeBonisK yes find away also takes a cut. I use ACX for Amazon and audible distro and find away for apple and everything else

Great video. Do you need your own ISBN number (you bought) for your audiobook allocated before uploading the mp3 file it to any audio platform such as ACX or Google Play? Do audiobooks need ISBN number?
1. yes, audiobooks needs ISBNs too. 2. Yes, you should have that assigned before you upload as it can take 24 to fully update in Bowker

Does GooglePlay have the same distribution as FindAVoice
No. Findaway Voices is an aggregator and distributes to many audiobook retailers, including Google Play. Google Play only distributes to Google Play Books. However, I pay less in fees on direct sales than those through an aggregator. Direct to retailer is better for the author.
