The car engine starts and Home Free takes over with their harmonies as the car engine fades
Adam Rupp makes the sound of a heart beat toward the beginning
Austin and Rob tearing up the lead with a sprinkling of Tim for the lead
Chance and Tim killing the base line and saying "hey we haven't done this for a while" and drops a double bass to end the song
The runs Austin and Rob put in are perfect and Rob getting a little soulful near the end
They did take a few things out of the Rascal Flats version and put it in their cover

Yeah, they tuned the exhaust note on the car to harmonize with their first note.

The original Nitty Gritty Dirt Band version was excellent, the huge hit Rascal Flatts cover was superb, now Home Free has made it perfect and you two aren't bad either.

I watched some fan videos from Tim's 40th Birthday Bash back in July. He said that during the quarantine he wasn't able to get to the hair salon to get the color to cover the gray like he's been doing, so he decided to just let it go gray. But he said he wasn't quite ready to be Willie Nelson with long gray hair so he decided to get it cut shorter. He said he wasn't sure it he'd keep it that length or let it grow back out. I think he looks great - "silver fox" is a good description. Love this video - such amazing harmonies.
What you call a ghost note is what we call an overtone in barbershop. When you hit chords with matching vowels and the right tone, you can create notes like this that are not voiced, but you can actually hear them. Home Free isn't doing barbershop, but the concept is the same in all genres. And a lot of us think that Adam is trying to replicate the sound of a heartbeat in the section where you pointed out his sounds after Tim's lead. You're right - the shots of the guys were done near Nashville. Awesome reaction - and this is a beautiful rendition of this song!!

I love your breakdowns of the music. With Home Free there is so much going on. I think that’s one reason I love them… kind of like listening to baroque music. There is a video I would love for you to react to. It’s Home Free live at the Hosanna concert in 2013 singing “Joy To the World”, their take on the Christmas carol. It’s Rob taking lead in full gospel mode. The whole arrangement is sooo good, complete with a 5 part beatbox breakdown. It has shades of 1970’s R&B, and I even hear Cab Calloway jazz. I think you guys will love it!
As much as this song is known by Rascal Flatts, they weren't the originals. This song came out by Nitty Gritty Dirt Band in 1994. One of the band members was one of the original writers, Jeff Hanna....this is the original. Nitty Gritty Dirt Band came out with Fishin in the Dark that you reacted to before. It's kinda sad no one really gives them credit for the music they put out over the course of 60ish years.. But I do like how in this video that Home Free does the sunset shots as (intentional or unintentional) to the band's old album covers in the 80s and 90s. Chance is picking up as Tim does lead, then stays just above Tim. The final big bass load is both of them together, along with Rob and Austin combined. Truly an awesome job,beautiful.
I call it layering bass, which Tim and Chance often do.

Most of Home Free's videos don't get blocked their older ones do somethings but not their newer ones because they have their own label (another Home Fry can help us out with this)

The Home Free part of the video was filmed outside Nashville - they did 10 videos in 10 days back earlier in the year, one of the first times they'd all been together in the same place since they had to stop touring in Spring 2020. They'll be back to full-time touring soon, but the plan is that they've got enough new material to keep them going with two videos a month for a while.
That was filmed in South Dakota. We have some beautiful scenery. Great reaction to their songs.
Always enjoy your reactions/breakdowns , especially the percussion! Also Home Free is very open about overlapping tracks in studio! That is why Adam can do the harmonica while still beat boxing.

I've watched a bunch of reactions of this one by now and you are only the second ones to react to my favorite part...that 3-note "oooo-eeeee-oooo" they put right in right at "this much I know is true." But you actually talked about it; the other reactor reacted, but didn't say anything about it. I listened to the Rascal Flats original after hearing Home Free, and that's not in there. So that's purely Home Free. And I love that part the most.
It is in the original but it’s buried in the mix and very very hard to hear lol we took several listens to the original and even pulled up the original scores for the instrumentation lol I believe it’s labeled sub alto synth 3 😂

This was actually first came out in 1994 by The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. But it is more well known by Rascal Flatts in the early 2000. The sound that you thought was an underwater sound from Adam is more of a heartbeat that was used in another song years ago. You two are so fun to watch thank you.

Tim has said that going to a private label was a much better decision for the group. The don't mind the reaction channels but they do appreciate channels that have a link to the original in the description or channels that have Home Free playlists. The find that they get more exposure from reactors' playlists.
Check out Adam Rupp's Christmas playlist on their channel. It has 20 plus versions of Little Drummer Boy. These guys are have fun even with playlists. Adam Rupp seems to have the driest sense of humor in the group.
