I wish my neighborhood had smoother streets! I walk in my neighborhood despite it not being the safest place… but if I could rollerblade I could zoom away from danger!
I'm with you on doing exercises that you enjoy! I used to do the elliptical, and although I did enjoy it, I no longer do. But I found an online exercise company that makes exercise enjoyable. I like it because I can do it regardless of the weather, which makes it convenient in the winter.
I thought I was the only one that felt awkward roller blading in my neighborhood!!! I still can’t get over it lol. I feel the same way riding my bike. I’ll have to work on that! Love rollerblading!
I find it so interesting that you have more balance on the blades. I would have thought the opposite. You should definitely make a goal for the half marathon. You’d crush it!
i feel it in my knees for when i use to roller skates. the weight distribution with the 4 wheels/trucks is different from the frame/wheels running just under the foot.
Yes! I just said this the other day to a friend - I refuse to do stuff I don't enjoy anymore. I love swimming & theres a bike at the gym that has like a game on the screen where you are sort of playing a mario bros type game while you pedal. love it! My 2 favourite things to do. I used to love rollerskating back years ago but with my bad hips & back I'd be terrified of falling now so although I envy you so much I won't try it
I lover roller skating! I was excited when I moved out here to find out they still have roller derby 😱 I can’t rollerblade. I’ve never got the coordination down for that. Also never learned how to skate backwards 😢 I never thought about skating around my neighborhood. 🤔 I’ll have to get outdoor ones and start! There’s also a paved trail right down my road that people bike, walk dogs, whatever I can go there. Now the wheels are turning! Thanks for the inspiration & info 💜
I use to rollerblade all the time, but I was skinny 20 years ago and 20 years younger. Now at 69 and over weight I am not sure if I could anymore but I always loved it!
My experience: what makes quad skating more difficult for inline skaters is their shorter wheelbase which can make it easier to fall backwards if you're not careful (keep your knees bent and slightly lean forward in a staggered position)
I would love to try, but at my age, and never done it…. I probably should keep with walking… 🤣I trip over air. And being at a particular age we must protect those bones/ hips!!! I did try to jog more on my walk a couple of weeks ago! ✌️💜NGF
I didn’t know the difference. I tried them both once. Never again. I was young and overweight. I felt the roller blades was harder cause they felt way heavier and it strained my feet…but then again I mean I was little and I just gave up lol
Do you know (Nikki or anyone) if there are knee pads for bigger legs? I'm afraid mine must look like sausages, but too old to chance the broken bones....but loooove skating

I just started roller skating! I got some Moxi skates about a month ago and it’s been fun learning again! It’s great exercise for sure 😃

I love skating as well. I only quad skate but I have great outdoor wheels. If you are falling backwards. Keep your knees bent.

I used to love rollerblading so much. I don’t know why I stopped. Thinking about getting some!

Would love to see more roller skating content from you
My youngest was on a Roller Derby team for 5 years. We never missed a bout and her Roller Derby name was Ida Watchit. So fun! 🛼
Her Derby name was awesome

I always wanted to know how to roller skate but I don’t know how :( so I live vicariously through you haha
Hey! When you cant skate outside because of the weather but you can get to a skating rink that is an option.
You are a fantastic roller skating

I've messed up a meniscus that way, so....🤷🏻♀️
I think your inline skates are Rollerblade brand (all other brands are called inline skates)
Look at you, all monetized! 👏👏
What brand are your blades? I use to skate back when I was 8-13 and not sure where to begin now 😂
I use these! liketk.it/3LjhN they’re actually a men’s pair and I just got them from dicks sporting goods! 😊
@@NikkiGetsFit thank you!!
They have skating half marathons? I hope you do one!!
Sounds like fun!
I love rollerblading! I get nervous about falling because I am terrible at breaking lol. Do you have any tips?
2x speed and yet

Nikki, maybe this belongs on a Q&A video, but would you ever consider joining a Roller Derby league?
I'm the total opposite roller skates are more comfortable for me and roller blades scare me. I can skate for an hour+ on Roller skates!
Hello 👋
Is there any difference with what muscles you work?
I feel like you definitely involve the same muscles, but it's more intense and deliberate with blading. And your ankles have to be stronger blading
Do you know (Nikki or anyone) if there are knee pads for bigger legs? I'm afraid mine must look like sausages, but too old to chance the broken bones....but loooove skating
Yes there are pads for any size legs.
@@pennygivan2551 any idea of a brand, etc?
@@LindaC616 187 killer knee pads are great and have large-sizes. I am a retired roller derby skater. Good Knee pads are essential
@@pennygivan2551 thank you!
I want to start roller skating but I’m so embarrassed I just can’t do it. And if any of my sons friends saw me he’s be so embarrassed lol😭
I cannot roller skate 😂 it’s freakin hard!
