Oh my gosh, supplement companies are laughing all the way to the bank. What mammal are we getting the colostrum from? I hope your healthy girl journey leads you to a simpler place, with exercise, plenty of rest, and colorful, whole foods that should be so easy to get in CA! I say this with love lol
People that want to go non toxic in their homes don’t like to hear this fact but candles and the burning of a flame in a home are one the most toxic things you can have in a home
Michel, feel free to take or leave my advise but the best way to build muscle is by weight training, doing compound movements like squats, deadlifts and pressing movements. Does not have to be with a barbell but utilizing multiple muscle groups in one movement pattern is fantastic for building muscle. Lots of opinions out there but Pilates has not been proven to build muscle. Muscle growth is a response to progressive overload through lifting weights. I’ve heard it’s a great supplemental workout to weight training though! If your goal is to build muscle, have you considered working with a certified professional trainer to ensure you are doing movements correctly to mitigate risk with your condition? I can also confirm creatine is amazing! There can be some water retention with it so start with a smaller amount at first and then increase. Lifting weights changed my life and it’s so empowering so just wanted to share 😊
You can use the Branch Basics oxygen cleaner to clean your retainer! It’s amazing how clean it will get it. I just put a big pinch in some warm water and let it sit for a bit. You will LOVE Branch Basics, it’s my favorite non toxic cleaner. The dishwasher tablets are not good though, I use seventh generation dishwasher liquid gel detergent - it’s amazing! I also use the 7th Generation rinse aid. Thrive has both of these. For the Saalt cups - great brand! Definitely a learning curve, don’t give up. Once you get the hang of it, it’s amazing! The disc they have is awesome, I like it more than the cup!
Menstrual cup tips!!! 1. If one size doesn't work, try another! I suggest the June cup, it's soft, has great size options, a great beginner cup that lasts for years! 2. Don't expect to get it right in the beginning, it took 6 months to a year for me to feel confident with the sensations, placement, emptying schedule 3. Use back up! Period panties... Cotton washable pads ... Liners/small pads ... It makes the learning experience easier and don't risk staining 🙂 Good luck, they are awesome!
Michel do you think maybe there is a connection between living in CA? when you moved to TX you said so many symptoms went away and were doing well. Maybe it’s the mind-body connection. I hate to say it but this reminds me of the health flares up you had when you lived CA the first time around. Any chance of moving to TX in the future, family and friends can be therapeutic
I thought the same...but you just need to work on the mind body connection. I cured myself of 6 years of chronic illness even after moving to a new country away from family and friends...
There might be something in this! I developed an autoimmune condition when I moved far away from my family/support network/familiarity. But Michel has also moved into a challenging house, got married and traveled a fair amount in a short space of time too, which is a lot of stress and life change in a short amount of time. IMO, Michel needs to assess the stress in her life and see a doctor about her flare. Lupus is serious. Supplements aren’t a panacea.
I hope Jordy encourages her to move back and prioritises her health and family connection over his surfing (which seems to be the only reason they moved to CA)
Commenting to boost this - I definitely agree, seems like TX was way more relaxing & supportive, leading to way better health outcomes for minimal effort. Living so far from friends and family & support is super hard, esp with autoimmune issues!
Ahh Michel!! I love this so much and you are such an inspiration to me. Thank you for always being yourself and I love watching your videos. I love your love for Jordy and Max. It’s just so wholesome. Ilysm and I hope you’re having an amazing day 💕
Menstrual cups take getting used to, but I'll never go back. The June Cup was my first and only brand (for 4 years now) due to the low price for high quality, there's a small knob/ball on it that makes getting it out a breeze. The price of that brand is so low that it doesn't break the bank to get a few diff styles. This sounds weird, but look into different ways to put it in and be relaxed when taking it out- you'll think it's stuck but it will come out! If you're unsure as you get used to it, get a pair of period undies to use at the same time as a backup.
When getting a menstrual cup I’d say to take into account the length of your cervix. I’ve tried the June cup and the Lena cup (both teen sized ones) and the first few times when I wasn’t inserting them right and I was leaking a lot I had no pain, but when I learned how to insert it properly they gave me the worst cramps of my life and I would say that because I don’t normally experience pain when I’m on my period. All that to say, don’t get a cup that’s to tall or big for your cervix or it will suction onto your cervix and hurt like hell.
Michel Like you I traded out my chemical cleaners and I make my own now. Pinterest has a lot of recipes for cleaners. I also bought the amber glass bottles so that plastic doesn’t leak into the cleaner. I started to make my own deodorant etc… as well. 😊 Stay healthy! I wish you best 🙏
I've used a menstrual cup for about seven years at this point and would never go back. Here are some tips. 1. If the one you got does not work out, try another as they do come in different sizes, depth, flexibility etc. 2. I suggest owning two. This way one can be cleaning and I actually have two different capacities so I can adjust for heavy/light days 3. Give it some time to get used to it - there is a learning curve on how to get it in properly, try different folding techniques and positions to find what works. I would use a secondary option as backup as you get used to it. At first it took me like five minutes to get it just right now it's super quick and barely takes any time at all. 4. Since they last up to 12 hours I seldom have to do anything special when I'm out in public but it is always nice to have a water bottle with me in case I do. This way if I'm in a public restroom with multiple stalls, I can still rinse it out. 5. Overtime there will be some staining even with boiling. So I have used a tablespoon of peroxide with a cup of warm water. I put in in a mason jar with my cup and leave it for a few hours and the staining goes away.
Shorter nails for menstrual cup placement and removal is really helpful, at the very least rounded nails. I love mine from Flex. I tried Natural Cycles when I wasn’t on the patch but didn’t really stick with it and be careful about taking my temperature so we ended up with a daughter 😊
Best tip I've received about placing a menstrual cup in is to do it in the shower/bathtub. It allows you go stand and crouch as much or little as you want. And best part is that if you get any blood in the shower you can just rinse/wash it away. Same thing with being able to wash your hand in the shower.
That looks like the dream dinner 😋😋😋😋😋😋😋 I was all set for trying a menstrual cup but then i started doubting that putting something plastic/silicone (even if they say its bpa free etc) inside me for hours at a time sounded safe. I use organic non toxic pads...that is another thing to make sure you swap to!
I love these wellness types videos and hearing you share about your supplements and health habits. I use branch basics and really like it. I didn’t love their laundry products though so I switched to Molly’s suds which is also non toxic. Hope your journey going off birth control is a good one. Going off was so good for my body personally. If you’re looking for non toxic condoms in the meantime, Lola brand is really good.
The menstrual cup will change your life. Definitely experiment with different sizes and ways to insert it. The June cup is an affordable way to try multiple sizes. It took me a couple periods to learn how to insert it, but now it literally never leaks. I also suggest buying a pixie steam cleaner thingy for it. I was boiling mine for forever, but it always made me uncomfy lol. The steamer is quick and more discreet if you ever need to travel, it's a more convenient way to clean it.
i have heard so many stories about people getting pregnant when they only use their oura ring as their method of birth control (just as a heads up, idk what your plan is!). i also have a chronic illness and my hormonal birth control literally saves my life i could not do it without her
Menstrual cups are awesome, I've had Divacup for nine years best thing I've done period wise. This maybe a little too much TMI, but after inserting it feel the edges to make sure your cervix it's sitting outside it, that was my first night and only mistake. You can also cut off the tab at the bottom of it if it's uncomfortable. When you go to remove it pinch it a bit to release the suction before pulling it out. It cleans well and you shouldn't have to dump it for up to 12 hours as long as it's not a super heavy day.
I love that you’re changing it up with the April first new years 😉 I treat June first as my new year and I love it because I can truly slow down and get my mind and body right ❤
On the menstrual cups.. there is a learning curve for sure. Can be a little brutal to be honest but don't give up. It took my 3 tries/cycles to finally get it down where it was comfortable then it was life changing. Imagine sleeping 12 hours without worrying about changing a tampon and absolutely no leaking. It's great!
So this is probably just my OCD talking, but girrllll, please don’t put your suitcase on your bed! That thing is so dirty from the airline luggage belts and there could be bed bugs or something on it or in it!! Oh man my nerves were all tweaking seeing that! Love the reset video though! Nothing better than getting your health in check!
Definitely going to try those bras! I use that saalt cup and its great. Keep using it until you get the hang of it. Ill never go back to any other method.
I feel like so many people focus on all the negatives of birth control pills, but don’t focus on the positives. I tried getting off of it and developed chronic lower back pain. I thought maybe it was my body just adjusting… for a year I was off it struggling with chronic pain and it seemed to be getting worse. I finally gave in and started taking it again and my pain has gotten so much better and at times don’t feel any pain. My gynaecologist is certain I have endometriosis. Birth control pills can really help a person who suffers from a chronic illness like endometriosis.
@natashatomilin I have endometriosis and had the surgery in the late 90s. Birth control did not help what so ever with it. Please make sure you have a very low dose estrogen birth control. I have suffered with it for years and still do even after the surgery in my late 20s. The doctor said because my legions were so dark that I had endo at the age of 13. I am 53 now...Please do your research on it because doctors do not have all the answers and you need to be proactive. Please reach out to me if you would like and I can tell you some of the things I have done to help. Diet and other things. Talking to other women with this is key to living a better quality of life. ♥
@@alexandriacorey5941 thank you for sharing your experience. The pill I’m taking has progestin and no estrogen. Birth control pills have come a long ways. I’m curious of all the ways you have tried dealing with endometriosis. I sent you a message on Instagram!

Menstrual cup is a great healthy choice, down side its messy cleaning it, if your running errands, or shopping. It takes a little getting used to, I enjoyed mine. No, you don't feel it, it's comfortable. My concern was the cotton products, that are sprayed with pesticides and other chemicals.
Acne returning is super common after stopping hormonal birth control. I saw acne and freaked out after 3 months off birth control and got back on, but then gave it another shot. It took about a year and I still get some acne but your skin balances out after a while and you'll learn how to manage it with topical treatments (finding a good face wash, good skin care routine that works for your skin). I would say it's difficult but try to give it a year off birth control! your body takes time to adjust.
Oh lord I’m glad you got the retainer cleaner bc you could have ended up with some serious gum issues otherwise. 😂I’m cheap and just buy the polident tabs you put in water and they work great too. Much love xx ❤
April 1st was my "Healthy Girl" New Year reset too 🤚🏼 high five. I will keep you lifted in prayer, as I daily stay fixed on taking good care of this "temple" with you... 1 Cor 6:19,20
I started getting sick from scents years ago, and we have cut scented products out of our house entirely. Yesterday I was at a friend's house and washed my hands after using the restroom. It literally took me hours to get the scent from the tiny bit of soap off my body. The perfume industry has successfully convinced people that everything has to be scented in life. It is so toxic. Good for you for starting to get a handle on it!
i tried the diva cup for a while! i decided against it after months and months tho. it was just too much effort lol😭😭😭 but i like them. it was a very body positive experience for me.
Saalt is nice/a well established brand. On the pricey side out of the U.S. brands! Other major brands are June, deva cup, etc but there now are a ton more options to choose from internationally
Loved this reset vlog I’m an April new year person too I’m like a bear I hibernate and get sad in the winter I can think of nothing worse than trying to my big changes in the depth of winter. My business YT starts in April spring is in April and my mood lifts in April it’s Al round a better time to crest and change.
In my 30s I started to change things to live a cleaner life since I was diagnosed with endometriosis and later other immune issues. Back then in the late 90s there wasn't much out there. I changed my make up but I have had to wait to change other things till science caught up. In 2022 I changed all my haircare, skincare and some of my wellness products and have had positive results now with my thyroid ( I have thyroid disease). I reached out in this message to just say thank you for posting about the cleaning products and I had to chuckle because things work in mysterious ways...I have been wanting to change my bras and that is one of the first things you mention in this one. So thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your research and most of all putting it out there to share. I am so glad that although I am 53 things are starting to change and I am here for it.
Thank you for sharing! I suffer from endometriosis and hashimotos which also affects my thyroid. Any recommendations on clean products for hair care and skincare? ❤ I’m just starting this journey to clean things up so I would appreciate it and your comment resonated with me
So excited to see you switching to more non-toxic products!! ESPECIALLY cleaning products! Branch Basics is awesome! Also check out Truly Free and Attitude Living. Love them both for dish soap, dishwasher soap, laundry soap, etc. I'm a clean-living gal and it's such a rewarding journey, and can have such a huge impact on your health, so good for you for paying attention to that!! :)
Please keep us updated on the menstrual cup journey (as long as going off bc is a good thing for you) because I struggle SO HARD at getting it in! I’ve tried a few brands including Saalt and I just haven’t been successful at all 😭
I use the saalt menstrual cup and love it! Great choice and I believe it’s good quality medical grade silicone and all that jazz. (Ps I recommend the c fold)
For reference, metals and especially authentic metals like silver and gold are antimicrobial to the point they are used in many products to add antibacterial properties. Therefore they do not need to really need to he cleaned like that and doing so may actually have adverse effects because especially if they are plated like many Meijuri etc pieces you are in fact striping them of those properties.
Michel, I am literally looking forward to seeing you in your culinary classes era. I have to ask you what week in April do you start culinary school. 👩🍳
Hey Michel, have you tried Nekohama matcha that is sold at Seaborne and at Necessity Coffee in Oceanside? I’ve been told it already has a natural sweetness to it so it doesn’t need any added sweetener.
I have not been diagnosed with EDS although I believe I have it but the geneticist told me that I should not do yoga or lift free weights because of the high risk to cause damage because my joints go past the range of motion and cause damage to the joint. He said the best exercise for EDS or any connective tissue disorders are Pilates and swimming. I am a swimmer but I have done modified Pilates at home. I am in PT to strengthen my neck and the PT doesn’t agree with the geneticist stating that if I am shown how to do the lifting appropriately and I am careful to do it correct it should not cause damage but you know how hard it is to do something with exactly the same form you should be doing when your PT is no longer around? I really think no free weights is best but weight machines he said are great to build muscle.
This is so random… But where did you get your hanging pendant lights that are in your bedroom? I’ve been searching for one for months and that one is so cute. It looks like it’ll be perfect size for my space. Love your videos as you inspire me every day! ❤
Try Acupuncture for balancing hormones. I did this when I went off BC. It is an alternative medicine that definitely helps, especially for hormone balance!
Put a Cup in It is a great resource for cup information! Also - I'd love a follow up on what you think of Branch Basics! I've been thinking of trying it out too but don't know anyone who's tried the products.
Hi Michel! Love the reset video. Can you please post a link to the ultrasonic cleaner from Amazon? Thank you, and I hope culinary school is going well! ❤
Hi Michel! I have a question about culinary school. I'm non-celiac gluten sensitive (NCGS) and have been thinking about going to culinary school too. I was wondering how you plan to manage the fact that you have celiac. Do you know if you'll be able to modify the foods you handle? :)
Michel- the menstrual cup definitely has a learning curve! Wear a panty liner your first couple times wearing it. I like it a LOT better than tampons or pads. I actually ended up trying the Nixit which is similar but it’s a disc so it’s a bit of a different shape. I like it better personally!! But a cup or disc is life changing. I like it so so much better than disposable products (plus it’s just silicone!)
The joy you bring with your videos is so loving, encouraging, uplifting, a big source of happiness and faith for me! I’m so thankful for YOU 🤍 You’re such a blessing to watch + you’re the best inspirational human being I know 🫶 What did we do to deserve all this content?
Getting off birth control helped with my chronic illness so much and now I have so many less flares! It was definitely a transition and my body has to adjust, but now almost a year later, I feel so much better than when I was on it! I now use Natural Cycles! I wish you the best of luck!
I love branch basics! Don’t love their dishwasher tablets (prefer blue land) but I love their concentrate for everything and laundry + the oxygen boost. I even use their hand soap ratio!
Menstrual cups tips: 1: relax and have patience with yourself. It’s a learning curve. 2. I like the EcoBlossom brand off amazon, but I think everyone is different and like different brands for different reasons. 3. Rinse with water or put a little lube to help with insertion. Unlike a tampon, it’s going to slide in almost straight back (parallel to the floor if sitting), rather than up. 4. If you feel it at all (pressure, feeling like you have to urinate frequently, or like the stem is too long, etc), make sure it’s fully inserted and/or try another brand bc our bodies are all unique. I switched to a cup probably 7 years ago and it made such a difference with my cramps, flow, etc. I no longer dread my period. Good luck!
I think I mentioned in a previous comment that I have spina bifida, and I desperately need to protect my joints and bones as I age. I'm interested to follow how your health plan works and see if I can use any of the tips. Don't think I can do pilates. Not drinking battery acid either 😂.
Michel- I don’t know if you’re aware, but AG1 has ingredients in it that people with lupus should not have!
Yes! Supplements are not necessary and can even be harmful if not recommended by a doctor
It’s so bazzare, I don’t think alot of people what colostrum is. That’s just gross.
People that want to go non toxic in their homes don’t like to hear this fact but candles and the burning of a flame in a home are one the most toxic things you can have in a home
Gotta open the windows with the candle for sure
Agreed! Well fragrance in general is just awful and it's in everything!
Candles would be the first thing to cut out if you’re trying to go non toxic
Generally curious, how are candles toxic?
@@orangemarissa50most of them are full of artificial fragrances which are toxic and hormonal disrupters.

100% agree. Definitely recommend liners until you get the technique down. But one you figure it out, it really is the best.
Michel,
Coachella is literally starting next Friday.
Have you ever been to Coachella? Also, if you haven’t would you go.
Girl you have just come through a lot travel and big events!! You just need to slow your roll a bit. ❤️
Especially a suitcase that’s been in the streets of NYC….disgusting
Perhaps lay down a big flat sheet first - then put the suitcase 🧳 on top & afterwards wash the sheet - 😊

I love seeing you happy! And laughing! Makes my day
Acne returning is super common after stopping hormonal birth control.
Hi Michel, chasteberry might be a good supplement for you to consider. Also happy new year 🎊
Where did you get your chrome water holders please? I love them 😍
Oh lord I’m glad you got the retainer cleaner bc you could have ended up with some serious gum issues otherwise. 😂I’m cheap and just buy the polident tabs you put in water and they work great too. Much love xx ❤
Lol!! Me too!! Cheap girls💪😂
April 1st was my "Healthy Girl" New Year reset too 🤚🏼 high five. I will keep you lifted in prayer, as I daily stay fixed on taking good care of this "temple" with you... 1 Cor 6:19,20
I don’t know how you manage all that you do. Keeping all the supplements straight and medications must be tough. Kudos to you staying so positive.
My fav types of vlog!! Sending you love 🩷
My favorite type of vlogs too! Very informative and all the products looked great!
Michel Janse, This made me laugh so much! Thanks for sharing!
i tried the diva cup for a while! i decided against it after months and months tho. it was just too much effort lol😭😭😭 but i like them. it was a very body positive experience for me.
Love your channel! Would love a video on non toxic swaps for the home! ❤
This was so satisfying to watch. I love checking things off my own list too.
❤ I’m just starting this journey to clean things up so I would appreciate it and your comment resonated with me
Xoxo😘 reset is good for your soul. Love the beach/dinner ending.
Was the meat/seafood from Butcher Box?
So excited to see you switching to more non-toxic products!! ESPECIALLY cleaning products! Branch Basics is awesome! Also check out Truly Free and Attitude Living. Love them both for dish soap, dishwasher soap, laundry soap, etc. I'm a clean-living gal and it's such a rewarding journey, and can have such a huge impact on your health, so good for you for paying attention to that!! :)
Yes I love people making the swaps 😊
Please keep us updated on the menstrual cup journey (as long as going off bc is a good thing for you) because I struggle SO HARD at getting it in! I’ve tried a few brands including Saalt and I just haven’t been successful at all 😭
I use the saalt menstrual cup and love it! Great choice and I believe it’s good quality medical grade silicone and all that jazz. (Ps I recommend the c fold)
Love your videos, you have such an uplifting personality! All the best to you and your new married life!❤️❤️❤️❤️
For reference, metals and especially authentic metals like silver and gold are antimicrobial to the point they are used in many products to add antibacterial properties. Therefore they do not need to really need to he cleaned like that and doing so may actually have adverse effects because especially if they are plated like many Meijuri etc pieces you are in fact striping them of those properties.
I didn’t care for the Saalt cup, it wasn’t secure. However for years I’ve used menstrual discs and the newer reusable disc by Flex and they’re great!
Michel,
I am literally looking forward to seeing you in your culinary classes era.
I have to ask you what week in April do you start culinary school. 👩🍳
I just got the same menstrual cup too, and I picked that one too because of the packaging 😂
I love Saalt! I’ve tried a lot of different period underwear and they are by far my favorite
Hey Michel, have you tried Nekohama matcha that is sold at Seaborne and at Necessity Coffee in Oceanside? I’ve been told it already has a natural sweetness to it so it doesn’t need any added sweetener.
you are the best!!
you're my favorite, ily!!!💞 thanks again for brightening my life up!!!
I need to get my life together, too! New leaf!
I've found that water and regular denture tablets do the job to clean my retainers
Love to see you upload! Even though I know your posting schedule; it's the best treat!!! Feel like you are a real life bestie!
Aw thank you!🥰
I have not been diagnosed with EDS although I believe I have it but the geneticist told me that I should not do yoga or lift free weights because of the high risk to cause damage because my joints go past the range of motion and cause damage to the joint.
I used that same cleaner when I had my puppy 🐶 😂😊 Resolve
Put a Cup in It is a great resource for cup information! Also - I'd love a follow up on what you think of Branch Basics! I've been thinking of trying it out too but don't know anyone who's tried the products.
May I ask where you bought your recycled drinking glasses from? they are beautiful! 14:41
Your vlog came up just as I got my oat milk lavender matcha drink!
YUM!!
Thank you sweet Maria🥹🤍
Getting off birth control helped with my chronic illness so much and now I have so many less flares! It was definitely a transition and my body has to adjust, but now almost a year later, I feel so much better than when I was on it! I now use Natural Cycles! I wish you the best of luck!
Just to say thanks for the hard work your vlogs just get better everytime you are The BEST!!!!
It’s not superficial! My dermatologist prescribed the pill to help with my adult acne;)
I tried the ultrasonic cleaner - actually two of them - and they both stopped working in a few months :( it was such a bummer!
I love branch basics! Don’t love their dishwasher tablets (prefer blue land) but I love their concentrate for everything and laundry + the oxygen boost. I even use their hand soap ratio!
Menstrual cups tips:
1: relax and have patience with yourself.
Good luck!
Branch basics is the best!!!
I've been counting the minutes until your upload today!
That’s so sweet:,)
Your dinner at the end looked delicious!!!
I think I mentioned in a previous comment that I have spina bifida, and I desperately need to protect my joints and bones as I age. I'm interested to follow how your health plan works and see if I can use any of the tips. Don't think I can do pilates. Not drinking battery acid either 😂.
