This reminds of a story my mom told me about a relative who was a kid in the Second World War. He and his family were hiding from the firefight taking place in his village. Eventually, the family moved across the village to another house away from the fight. At that house, the kids were allowed to play inside the courtyard of the house with a ball. At one point, the boy kicked the ball too hard and it landed outside the courtyard walls. He ran out to grab it and picked it up, then heard a shout in German. Looking up, he saw a German soldier standing quite a ways away from him. The soldier told him to follow his directions exactly. The boy was scared and confused, but obeyed the soldier's orders. Those long pauses after these heroic stories are just...
Wow...
I love it
"After the game, both the pawn and the king go into the same box" this is my favorite quote
He was thinking that this would be on simple history 70 years later
That quote on his grave mark is a variation of what Jesus said but its actually apropriate since Jesus Himself died saving his enemies...
That's good
Well said my friend, well said.
Why, was he at war?
@@timlevis3630 yeah the greatest of all, the war between good and evil

This is the Franz Stigler and Charlie Brown incident, but with an unhappy ending and on land
Desmond Doss: "Who are you?"
German officer: "I'm you but I'm German and I respect the wounded allied soldiers"

"How did I get here"
The end
@@DyslexicMitochondria Hey man I watch your videos. Love you content
Didn’t Doss save several Japanese soldiers on Hacksaw Ridge?
@Mr.Explain r/whoosh
@@trentonshipp2875 Yes he did save some some I think 3 or 5
That is such a powerful quote: “no man hath greater love than he who layeth down his life for his enemy”.
War is a scourge. But when war loses all honor and nobility... it becomes a horror far worse.
If the enemy is not fighting you anymore,He is no longer your enemy until he shoots you again

Got to love those people like the German lieutenant. Can only imagine how often that happens.
Really nice and simple story.
I gotta say, in the sponsor when Simple History called me commander, it warmed my heart
listen to teacher 😵🔫
listen to simple history ☑️✅
Words can not describe the respect i have for this man.
I hope his courage and compassion are remembered for as long WWII is studied.
"Human is still human, with human heart, doesn't matter how cruel they are." - Johan Farma(1996)
Oooh the combat animations are getting perfect, congratulations man
A moment of silence at the end of the video shows how much we respect these heroes, those who risk their lives in order to save other lives without the regard of friend or foe♥️ respect!
I know I love that too
Not all Germans were evil, and still here I am, seeing my classmates thinking the evil they ALL are.
Rest easy sir. 💔
Yeah they do be thinking that they are aliens
O
Let your classmates think so.
Just because the german invade to many country thats why your classmate think the german were evil
War always brings out the the worst in many
But it can also bring out the best in a few
Huge respect for Simple History that they cover all sides and not just show the good and heroic acts of the Allies. Thank you for that!
I love how they immediately go back to fighting. 3:44
As I teenager I tried taughting my friends that Germans were also humans and were fighting for their country not Nazis they always laughed at me. Now let me show this to them.!
Sounds like your friends have been exposed to too much allied propaganda, my friend
Show them stuff about Franz Stigler, the German ace that spared a B17 that was barely staying in the air
if those don't convince them that not all Germans were Nazis, then nothing will

Watch "the greatest story never told" and see it from the german view.
@@koencagurangan3256 Operation Valkyrie was an attempt to make peace with the Western powers and focus on the Soviet Union it wasn't anything about goodwill.
Those people you mentioned are exceptions and I agree that they should be remembered. However, for the vast majority of the Wehrmacht they supported Hitler and the Nazis and/or were at the very least complicit with the atrocities. Also the 'good' Nazis who chose to defy Holocaust orders or events like the one in the video were never killed or even punished so most of them did have a choice.

Damn respect i like that qoute at the end. Thats was hardcore.
We need to be like him always helpful and not a waste.
The animation style of simple history just gets better each video, could it get any better? The animation also just has some charm to it.
A moment in history especially worthy of note :D .
Come to think of it: It was said by one Staff Sargent I knew in the RLC: "Doesn't matter what language it is; you can always tell when hardened soldiers are crying for their mothers."
(he discovered that whilst assisting a rescue attempt of a Tank Crew, who were trapped in their upturned & burning vehicle)

Calm down jeez
What an honerable man, even tho they were our enemy they still had lives and believed in their cause, this shows he knew how tragic it would be to have a man lose his life slowly so he gave his own, what a man😔😔
Real warriors and soldiers don't fight because they hate the enemy in front of them,
They fight because they love the people, their country and the things behind them.
(ex Grunt here)
Props to the animated dude who's suffering PTSD... and immediately gets right back to shooting.
thanks for this memorial video of absolutly greatness👍

Unrelated but another great story is the story of a German POW's romance with an African-American nurse during WW2. Friedrich (Frederick) Albert and Elinor Powell.
Love the ending images in your videos.

4.03M subscribers Thank for doing a video on Leutnant Friedrich Lengfeld (R.I.P Friedrich Lengfeld, September 29, 1921 - November 12th, 1944). This also makes me question/wonder..... were there ever any sympathetic Japanese Soldiers or Japanese Officers who also also showed humanity towards enemy soldiers?
sacrificing your life for your enemy is definitely the most honourable thing there is
Everyone in War is just a Human forced to fight against each other
Stop it
