"We'll go anywhere to talk about plants." Same. Conifers, especially the uncommon ones are so cool!
HortTube meets Mr Maple? Dream pairing!!!
Rockstar lineup⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Jim and Steph✨Matt and Tim💫and all those fantastic conifers 🌟
OMG! Now I want a conifer only garden in my yard!! Jim, you are killing my wallet. Great video!
The color of those maples in the greenhouse-gorgeous and I love the variety in conifers you showed!
Super greetings from Chile, I am a fanatic of maples and conifers, unfortunately here we don't have too many varieties, I wish to have the opportunity to visit Mr. Maple some day. Thanks for your videos and success in all. :)
Jim, Tim, and Matt, I love it when all of you plant-loving, hand-talking folks get together (I'm one also). My sweet hubby and I were at his company's annual picnic and an elderly gentleman who was sitting across the table from me asked if he could see my hands. I held my hands up and he reached out and held both of my hands in his. I was a bit shocked, but I didn't say anything, finally, he started to laugh and said, I knew it, you can't talk without your hands. I love listening to Matt and Tim Nichols, and I've ordered some beautiful trees and shrubs from them for my landscape. Stephany, you did a wonderful job filming, and I think you should be in more videos. I hope you all have a great weekend! ~Margie🤗🌲💐🐝🦋
My two favorite UA-camrs in one program!
I love that you included zone 4 and 5 plants!
My kind of plants, I want them all!
I feel so fortunate to have a variety of hinoki cypress, other conifers, Japanese maples and dwarf ginkgo. I have been learning as much as I can about caring for them. Your discussions really help.
Boy would I love to visit Mr. Maple in person !!🍁😁 These guys are so cool and knowledgeable.
Love when you have conifers on your videos.
I love the plants I've purchased from Mr. Maple. I would like to have a garden with just these plants in it!
This was super enjoyable and interesting, thank you. I have a beautiful little Red Dragon Japanese Maple in my front bed from Mr. Maple. It's really nice.
So many great conifers along with those amazing maples in the background. I was looking for Snow White on their website but couldn’t find it. Thanks for taking us along. Can’t wait to see what you got.
Love the pair of you together!!!
Good morning Jim! Love watching Tim and Matt on Mr. Maple. So glad there are choices for me here in zone 9b Texas Gulf Coast! Thanks ya'll!
Oh my goodness, I want them all!!
What a fun and informative video. Love the funky plants. And......so great to see the three of you truly enjoying each other. Nice shot of Stephany at the end!
I had a baby blue spruce that tragically died in it's pot this fall, but now I think I know why. I had it in way too much sun, especially for the deep south. Thanks Jim, Matt and Tim!
Great selection of conifers added a few to my 2023 must plan list. Thanks
I love Mr. Maple and have ordered many things from them and they always arrive in great condition and well packed. 😀
I have a 10 year old one foot pine tree. I just keep it in a small pot, and it's doing fine. It is funny bein so small with a trunk and bark. I also have a 10 year old Christmas tree no larger than one foot. They do great in small pots. You can put it in a medium pot for a reusable Christmas tree. After rising it with a hose, take it in yearly and take it back out when done. Bigger the pot, the larger the tree. Miniature trees do not require a lot of care. Water them and leave them alone.
Conifers, especially the dwarf ones, can add an Asian note to a garden and contribute winter interest at the same time. Probably not a coincidence.
Fabulous! Thanks for this. I'm in the UK and didn't know these were available to me, so really appreciate this video. 👍
Great video showcasing some nice conifers! I’ve gotten most of my JMs from Mr. Maple and 3 of their dwarf conifers, as well. Love those guys! 🍁🌲
Two favorite channels in one. Yay 😁
Thanks!
Great video Jim!! Can’t wait to see which conifers that you came home with. Mr Maple is awesome! But conifers scare me I’m in 7b and have killed a few, I stay away from spruces now. This video helped though so I think I will give a dwarf conifer a shot again lol. That tiny hinoki looks amazing!! Great video and content. Thanks for all that you and Steph do for the gardening community!💯💯
Loved this video! Two of my favorite channels combined makes a perfect video! I have to get online and order some of those conifers. I live in Oregon, so I'm used to seeing the green giants, but it was interesting to see the little dwarf varieties. Thank you for sharing.
Mr Maple should just do a “Jim’s selections” as a group purchase on the website. Since I now want one of each! 😂
Wow thanks so much! Love it! We had a lot of fun!
Eek, I wasn’t expecting this so soon after the Instagram post. What a lovely selection 🍂🍁 Prior to this garden season I’d never ordered a plant online… thanks to your channel I’ve become a repeat offender 😅
Hello Jim, Tim & Matt! Thanks for sharing the conifers plant on your Mr Maple nursery. I have to check out further on your website.
I'm curious about the smell. Do any of the conifers have a strong fir / pine scent? we're in North carolina, too. Thanks for the great video!
Such a great assortment of conifers!
Hollo Jim putnam and Stephany, one minute you guys was in my kitchen. AND the next you guys was at the Connifers with Mr maple on tv. What!!! Anniek, that my plant. Stephany, I was you snick out with plants. A Ha !!!
I have a 22 year old orchid tree. It is one foot high. If you occasionally fertilize it -- it will bloom! It grows in a pot a few inches high. It's cool because it literally is 22 years old. I only trimmed the roots one time out of that 22 years. You have to be careful because do too much it will kill the tree. Considering I cut all my trees down, I still enjoy the trees just miniature style.
Love these guys! Looking forward to ordering from them. You say ‘gold’ or ‘yellow,’. I say ‘“chartreuse.” The lesson of yellow tones in the shade garden, I learned from a great landscape architect who built it into a landscape plan for me to discover. Love the purple foliage too, but it really does disappear into the landscape. Great content!!
Awesome, great video. I’m glad you guys were able to get together!
Excited to see what you and Stephanie pick out! 😊
I am interested in conifer propagation!
It would make some interesting vlogs for your channel.
Loved the framing of this video - you know these conifers are stunning when they can hold their own against that incredible background of maples!
I LOVE this video. Years ago I either read an article on Mr. Maple or saw them on a tv show and found their history and story quite interesting. The opening shots and video background reminded me of candy in a candy shop. Various green plants on the table and all the beautiful fall colors in the background. I think I'll be ordering the nigra compacta - keeping it in a pot before planting. Thank you, thank you.
This was really helpful information! I'm one of those in a colder zone (5a), and I'd never seen little dwarf conifers used the way you and Stephany have done until watching your garden tours. I've written down a couple of varieties to get next spring 🙂
Great video to reignite my passion for conifers
Always enjoyed what I got in from the MrMaple folks, and appreciate your bounding insight into landscaping Jim. I really need to up my conifer game here, having just about nothing of great interest in terms of evergreens. Think it's about time I dip my feet in and see what I can do for non-dormant winter interest.
Wow! I learned SO much. I'm in 7a & I'm in the mkt for shade conifers. Great info here. Thank you!
Thank you for giving some ideas for different conifers. I'm always envious when I travel to another climate and see all of the different conifers they can grow, especially the blue ones. I would love to see a comparison of Baby Blue Ice and Snow Angel because I am very interested in ordering one of those (if not both). Zone 7B, North MS. Have you been to Gibbs Gardens just north of Atlanta? They have recently added a dwarf conifer collection that I'm interested in seeing.
Those fall-foliage Japanese maples are the perfect background for the conifers.
Jim, which ones did you bring home?
Yay. I can plant most of these in 6a. And I really liked a lot of them. I currently have no winter interest in my gardens so need to get some for the front and backyard both. Thanks so much for this video.
I thought my yard had enough conifers, until I watched this video 😂 I also highly recommend MrMaple. I’ve ordered from them a couple of times and everything is always packed super well and comes pretty large (compared to some Junipers that I bought off Amazon that were literally about 2 inches tall to my surprise 😂).
Wow, I would leave with one of each!
That was great! Thx Jim
I need to remember these guys next year! I'm working on beefing up my evergreens - I find my favorite landscapes no matter the season are evergreen heavy but I haven't focused much on that until this year.
Excellent! Looking forward to seeing where some show up in your landscape.
Conifers are a beautiful different world. I grew up in the mountains, and I am always inspired to add to our Japanese Maples collection conifers. Thank you, guys, for another great episode.
I am a little gun shy of planting Cedrus and cryptomeria after the arctic blast killed all of mine here north of Memphis last year. It was depressing digging up some that were 10-15 years old. The weather is getting so extreme that it is rare to even get good color on my Japanese maples with high temps, late killing frosts, storms, and droughts. I will stick with my blue spruces and Norway spruces though, they have not let me down yet!
Jim, thank you for sharing your visit. I learned so much from all 3 of you guys. It’s a godsend to have you at our fingertips. I bought 3 of the conifers from MrMaple on this video plus a couple more. Planted them this summer/fall in NE Oklahoma and so far all are growing nicely. Thank you again for all you do to teach us!
That's really cool, Cindy L.
Thanks for watching and following along!

Thank you!
That was fun. Thanks!
I really enjoyed this video. It was very interesting. I thought i may have found a new obsession but alas, I am in the dry 9b.
Now I see conifers EVERYWHERE!!
I have ordered from mr maple as I also subscribe to their channel thru you several years ago... Awesome 😎 guys!!!!
Thanks! :)😊
Fabulous! I truly enjoyed this video!
Beautiful
I have to replace 2 Dwarf Alberta Spruce for a friend's containers. They do tolerate abuse & he will have no other. Wish I could use one of these cuties instead! Thanks guys!
There's a full grown Colorado spruce south of Fort worth Texas ,Cleburne. It's get at least 6 hours a day maybe more .
Awesome! Thank you!!
Awesome, my Deador hit the ground running.
Beautiful ❤
Are chamaecyparis susceptible to/perpetuators of cedar apple rust? I’d love to get a blue specimen but I have cedar apple rust happening in the area.
Will any of these plants be ok in summer here in zone 8b Louisiana?✨
Will most of these grow in zone 8 of South Carolina???
Hello. What root stock is used for chamaecyparis lawsoniana ?
I wonder how many of these jim went home with lol 😆
Hello!
Hey! Thanks for watching!
Guess what? Giant Sequoia Trees can be grown in tiny pots. I had a few and was impressed with it so I put one in the yard after 5 years in a tiny pot, and it shot up like crazy. It got too tall too fast, so that kind of freaked me out so I cut it down and killed it. The only trees I like are in tiny pots.
