It's a testament to the talent of the artists behind this game that of all the modded, raytraced, beefed up videos I've watched of this game, the original still looks better *artistically* (detail is lower, lighting is less realistic, but colour & texture are better balanced & more complimentary & everything generally just looks aesthetically more pleasing - even if it's less realistic). This video is the closest thing I've seen sofar to something that looks as good but it highlights one of the biggest issues I've seen with almost all graphics mod videos: excessively heavy dark notes & shadows. For some reason these mods seem to go far too heavy on contrast-increases: the original looks a bit washed out sometimes (not in a good way) but all these mods go the opposite direction, making it look way too harsh & dark.

nintendo is so archaic and set in their ways that they'll probably always be behind the times hardware-wise. what their stuff lacks in processing power is made up for by whatever absolute fuckin workhorses are on their various art and design teams as far as the visuals go lmao. even as far back as the gameboy advance that was still the case. its sad to see a lot of people in the comments shitting on the work they do because the corporate level of nintendo is shit, glad you can recognize it tho lol.
This is the best RT BotW footage I've seen, and still doesn't look great. The base game uses different light rendering solutions for characters vs landscape vs materials, and the flattening to a single RT pipeline tends to make the landscape look great at the expense of the characters. The higher framerate feels so good, but the upped resolution really reveals the limited LOD effect. I've never noticed foliage pop-in like this on Switch but it is hugely distracting here. This isn't a knock on the incredible work folks have done modding the game, so much as marveling at how carefully built the original assets and rendering pipeline were.
The short draw distance on foliage where it just pops into frame and the hat clipping the shield the entire time just makes this feel like a 10 year old game

The only complaint I have about BOTW is the lack of music compared to the other games. Twilight princess is 100% one of my favs and I really hope Nintendo will release it for the switch.
Indeed. It's utterly spellbinding, even when playing on a regular Switch. I still find myself climbing for ten minutes and over just to check out a view at a particular time of day.

Yeah but you have to remember it's meant to be played on portable hardware. I think this level of detail is quite impressive.
@@goku445 of course! I'm not trying to be negative. Speaking of pop in, have you seen some of Unreal Engine 5.1's technology? Oh baby!
@@k-fedd I know :).
Nintendo's strategy to go for a portable console only instead of raw power was quite risky but they succeeded with the Switch it seems.
I haven't but I'm a PC player. Never owned a console actually.
@goku PC master race!
played it on a Wii U gamepad at like 540p and it still looked beautiful 5 years ago.
Exactly. This is unnecessary. Not the way the game was meant to be experienced.
Looks amazing! The next step would be to work on the LOD of the map in the background (it's really noticeable in the sequence from 4:15)
Yeah as far as I know its a problem with reshade compatibility on cemu , its been there for a long time and the only reason Ive not been using reshade for this game
@@mehe Incredible work nonetheless!
The video is only nine minutes long because his video card burst into flames.
Imagine if they release PC version that is actually utilizing what high end PC can offer
Nintendo is like Eww more money.
yeah sadly nintendo is too stubborn and cranked up their own asses to ever consider something like this
it's because nintendo survives off of their exclusives, no one would buy their underpowered consoles if they're games weren't there
@@pudimy that's true
And it s always a good reason later on to release an old game on a new console
It looks great with ray tracing but I still prefer the hand draw style of the original.
imagine Nintendo released a 4k 60hz system. do you have any idea how well made those first party games would be? it would be like ps1 vs N64 graphics. the artists at Nintendo are extremely high caliber
if only . they've been behind for so long power wise that its just sad at this point. i stopped getting switch games cause they run so poorly vs on an emulator its kinda depressing honestly. first party stuff is still usually decent but other things you know the devs probably wished they weren't as limited.
@@styx971 nintendo after the GameCube (which sold poorly) will probably never try to compete with Playstation or Xbox with raw power. On top of that no mobile apu is even within striking distance of the current consoles amds 7000 desktop apus with just surpass the gtx 1050 (which is amazing don't get my wrong). Without a dedicated graphics card in the system I doubt it will reach the consoles.
nintendo is so archaic and set in their ways that they'll probably always be behind the times hardware-wise. what their stuff lacks in processing power is made up for by whatever absolute fuckin workhorses are on their various art and design teams as far as the visuals go lmao. even as far back as the gameboy advance that was still the case. its sad to see a lot of people in the comments shitting on the work they do because the corporate level of nintendo is shit, glad you can recognize it tho lol.
Can't wait for the decomposition project and the subsequent pc port we can then do stuff about about the Poppins that are super noticeable in 8k
綺麗! 見慣れた景色も新鮮な気持ちでプレイできるね
Wonderful music
I think the original looks better. You can see the textures, light emitter placement and models not being optimised for this type of graphics.
My computer can't even watch this at the max setting but I'll trust it looks good 👍
This is the best RT BotW footage I've seen, and still doesn't look great.
That's what you miss when a game development studio is tied to a hardware one, Nintendo was once ahead of his time hardware wise, that;'s a shame.
It never was the last time was the gamecube
Hardware is not everything look at the original wii
The short draw distance on foliage where it just pops into frame and the hat clipping the shield the entire time just makes this feel like a 10 year old game
well it is almost 6 years old lawl.
yeah that feel way off, not that the rest of the graphic is better
Yes why that is not much bigger draw distance...strange
I wonder how much nintendo would make if they did just release there games on pc after a year or so?
They'd be broke
Yeah imagine if people could just wait a year to buy games on PC that are intrinsicly tied to switch sales. Great for gamers not so great for Nintendo's bottom line.
@@naderkhouri9468 potentially, but I'm more thinking there single player experiences. As well as BOTW sold, it's top sales were earlier on like most games. People get nintendo for the party games, there's a reason MK8 is still selling like it came out last week.
I will never understand their obsession with seeing everything in 10K 2000 fps, the original art of many games is what should matter the most.
🤫
The only complaint I have about BOTW is the lack of music compared to the other games. Twilight princess is 100% one of my favs and I really hope Nintendo will release it for the switch.
if this video had started uploading right now, I bet I would have a family and kids by the time it uploaded.
BOTW is just a beautiful game.
Indeed. It's utterly spellbinding, even when playing on a regular Switch. I still find myself climbing for ten minutes and over just to check out a view at a particular time of day.
I like how all of these "ultra graphics settings" videos always make BOTW to look like a cheap asset flip game XD
Que coisa maravilhosa!
i can hear the sound fan spinning faster than light
amazing graphic improvements!
This is one of the best utilization of raytrace reshade, doesn't have all the ghosting and off shaded outlines
imagine if pokemon looked like this...
Would be nice haha
If only Nintendo stop fucking around with garbage hardware
Wow
lol, that was also my reaction
4:13 the mountain is feeling the beat
A non laggy Korok Forest? A dream.
The forest is so beautiful
I love how they disabled the UI because it would have given off light and been reflected off of the world. It's one of the flaws of implementing these screen space filters overtop of a game.
Looks great how are you playing this on the pc and how with resolution/ray tracing
I feel this could be seen as a bit nit-picky, but could you do one of these videos with one of the default outfits for Link and not too much equipment on? I feel like that would give a better feel.
Good graphics won't ever fix empty open worlds tho. :)
It's not empty tho
The PC is probably a stationary flamethrower rn 💀
Bruh I can't believe this game could be even more beautiful
everything else besides the hills looks amazing imo,
Wow! Framedrop forest looks amazing:')
me watching an 8K video at 480p: Oh yeah, this is insane quality
that computer: hot
my computer: getting hot viewing this
I'm not one of those who care much about graphics, just good enough visuals is fine. Now, I do think this would make BotW a better game.
Really good and also nice music
Me watching this on my 1080p monitor: "hmm yess, 4K"
BOTW was the game that pushed the CEMU to be one of the best emulators out there, and i think TOTK might do the same for Both Switch EMU
Nintendo does not need realistic graphics to make good looking beauty games.
Holy shit, Korok Forest looks like it's straight out of some mythical legend. This is fire 🔥🔥🔥
Can’t wait to do this to the sequel
