I visit here every few years to shed a tear or two. Bobby wasn't the best but the times was not "once in a lifetime", they were once. There will never again be music like that of 70s disco, 80s to 90s house. The vibe politically, socially, economically converged in those three decades and they will never happen again.
Do anybody remember when WBLS use to rock the club mixes on Friday nites commercial free from12am-6am, then from Mon-Fri 12n-1pm with the likes of T.SCOTT, TIMMY REGISFORD, BOBBY KONDERS, MERLIN BOBB & LARRY LEVAN I believe LARRY PATTERSON too, BLS had the top club DJ's and I use to make sure I got my cassette tape & my boom box ready to go from12am-6am try to record every beat on my cassette tape. Those were the days, to me CLUB ZANZIBAR days, YEEEEEEESSSSS!!!!
yes
Yes yes and yes Club Zanzibar in New Jersey was Ultimate Experience
I did not know Levan was part of that line up?
@@jamesknowles1907 Don't think Larry Levan ever was at BLS. He was busy at Paradise. Tony Humphries was. So was Karisma Robinson.
@@drew0513 Someone else said the same thing on a different thread. I don't ever remember Levan on BLS. If so there would not have been a reason, other than that sound system, to go to the "G".
Regarding radio mixes Tony Humpheries was King. My only complaint about Humpheries was also my greatest complement... Humphries would take songs from aspiring artist, given to him for a shot at stardom, and rock them at clubs and on occassion radio. I had a group call Connexion with a song called "Whatcha tryin to do" and we gave him that to listen to tryin' to break into the industry. The next master mix he played it during his radio spot. He had insane fresh content because of that.
"Running" by Jovenne was another cut like that. I heard Humphries play that way before it was available to the public. Published.
This mix is worthy of putting on the earphones, closing the eyes and let the sounds take you on a trip thru the atmospheric feelings
Way ahead of ya mans
Bobby Konders... a mastermind. Only true househeads can appreciate sets like this. House on!
These mixes brings back memories, sit back grab a drink have a smoke and vibe to the music 🎶🎶🎶 this track always got people moving classic.
Reminds me of sleeping over my cousins apt in the projects in Brooklyn, auntie used to play Bobby Konders mixes live on the radio as we slept peacefully..soaking in these sounds.
Yo! This is poochie Miller! Stronglsland The velt, exit 21.I love house music,4ever house! keep house music going 4life. peace&luv 2 all my house heads. let's get it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
anyone remember the "Underground" in NYC? I lived there every Saturday night in 1989-1990....Crazy good
BellaSnow YES! saw Shabba Ranks there..what a party! He came on near 4am...
Loved that spot! Me and my friend were regulars. So many good memories !!!
BOBBY KONDERS is one cool cat. In 1996, before the reggae crowd fully knew him - I saw him chilling in a corner by himself at this reggae club, and many people were wondering - Who is this guy?. I went over and spoke with him about 1992 House album, and he was so down to earth.
These were the deepest of the deep "house" sounds, cutting edge beats and mixes by the likes of Konders, Humphries et al who brought a wide spectrum to their programming. I filled many Canal Street TDK and Maxells with these mixes and they deserve alot of credit as early dj pioneers of the sound.
89.1fm wnyu was another station that had some great mixes. Still do actually
Whats crazy is I have this whole mix on 2 cassette tapes along with a bunch of Red Alert and Tony Humphries tapes.
clavon jackson upload them for us!
Haha me too since 1985 kiss 💋 master mix on 97.7 kiss FM absolutely the house music anthem was Marshall Jefferson move your body 👁️👅 yeah.
Bobby Konders is a house and reggae dj!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish I stayed up longer to listen to these back in the day.
Smoking a blunt have the strobe light on and pumping these tunes feeling nice.
oh my goodness i had a tape TDK with the bubble gum colors yellow, that had this intro , i lost that tape over 20 years ago. Today I found it again. THank YOu Bobby Konders. so miss the club house era. the music was unmatched.
All I have to say, he knew what he was doing, he went beyond the sound of house.
First track is The Poem - Bobby Konders
Totally awesome that's all forever house and club music nyc forever
Reminds me of being at the club called Mars NYC lower west side, meat packing dist. getting it in

Yes sir, Cheetahs Club was located in Patterson New Jersey. We used to travel from Staten Island, New York and get off exit 155P on the Garden State Parkway. Those were the days JL!
Haha. Zanzibar. Went there only one time, with whitney houston. I remember like the whole club seemed to come to a complete abrupt stop , everyone looking at me like “wtf is a white boy doin in here? And with whitney???” I didnt give sh*t. I danced my ass off and had a blast.

I LOVE IT
: ) I love it.
Bobby Konders was the only one nipping at Tony's heels...not even Merlin Bob, Timmy, John Robinson...nobody. I used to switch back n forth between Kiss and Kickn' S and both these guys were rocking dope house, riding mixing and exclusives, pitched down too.
Oh boy Old Scool in the Mix is Tuff 👍🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🎶🎵🎼🎵🎶🎧
Why not update the name of the video to Bobby Konders @ 107.5 WBL kicking S :)
My brother collv rock this jam in soundfa ctory i.90
..The Xfader: to be even more accurate, the song is officially called "Turn & Run Away" by Jovonn...very early 90's NYC House classic...we generally call that song "Runnin" because of the chorus.
Damn. 35 years it took to get that information.
Such a lovely mix. What is the name of that PHAT track that is faded in around 18 minutes? I love it. It is soooo smooth. This is the feeling of deep house music. Music I missed when I was overseas. I miss a decade of music and now I can catch up to it.

Text:
:)

808 State - Pacific 707. Could be a remix though.
Think it’s the mellow birds mix.
Alright all you Club Zanzibar experts, i have a big question for ya'll: WHO PLAY THE RLA THE LOUDEST AND/OR HARDEST. I have only heard 3 djs play there: TONY HUMPRIES, LARRY PATTERSON(Only once on a Wednesday night) and LARRY LEVAN (in 87 after the Garage closed).
I've heard them all play and it's a hard call.
In my experience Tony pushed it hard but Levan having been playing on The Garage's system probably wanted it louder!!! LOL, as i remember that one night of Levan...the system was not as BASS heavy as when Tony played it. And Patterson was to me anther Tony. From what i hear of Tee Scott he played the hardest, never got to hear him even once.
Yvonne Lightfoot i can kinda understand that, which club did you attend the most back then? I mostly went to Zanzibar, i used to hear of Paradise Garage but didn't bother to try as i heard it was hard to get in w/o membership or knowing someone.
The answer is none of them. The reason is all these people had a keen appreciation of sound especially Larry and Tony and “to play the loudest/or hardest” didn’t resonate with them because they wanted to play at a level that maximized the records acoustic potential and not to simply turn up the RLA system the loudest!
