As an American that looks like it would make a cozy house
Living space in europe is much smaller than in America on average
This design definitely smarter than allah
And thats why itll never catch on in America. Wed see homeless in them alive or dead. Wed also see abandoned animals and possibly kids. America is a shit hole but we lie to the rest of the world and act like we are awesome.

That is a good design and no rats running out of the dumpsters and no smell or liquid leaking out and all over the street.
Been using these for over 30 years in Norway
People never real care about innovators who created these useful design or products, only advertised ones.

Its missing one vital piece of technology.
I work in waste management, it needs a biomass sensor to detect living tissue such as animals or children who may have accidentally fallen inside.
Other than that I think its great.
I'd say it's only a matter of time until a person is found in those.
Not in the countries west of the UK where people are actually civilized...

Bud the recycling of glass in north york . When it started glass was put in recycling bins and then the driver would dump the glass in the garbage. North York is toronto today.

Not a problem at all , we separate plastic from paper and etc. and recycle trash here in Lithuania , we had underground bins for many many years now , our country is so much cleaner now

In America, we got tired of seeing trash everywhere in our nice neighborhoods. Our solution was to reduce the quality of the neighborhoods 🤨

Horribe smell surrounding those garbage bins I've got similar bins nearby flat that I live in ... so not as good it should be...

Yeah, this is what America needs to start doing. We need to concentrate on America rebuild. It’s infrastructure instead of sending other countries are money I mean how are we in debt but still giving other people money let’s focus on America for a while.

Don't forget, a setup like this would require a totally custom garbage truck design with an integrated knuckleboom to lift the bin out of the ground.
Custom bins + custom trucks = higher taxes.
Taxes? At least in the US Garbage disposal is a private deal and in the Netherlands, where this technology was born, it is a utility like water and gas. It actually makes it significantly cheaper. The trucks can cover 100s of homes in one stop, less often too. Otherwise the biggest cost for garbage disposal is the cost of fuel to go from can to can. There is literally no downside to this. New York City could really use it
Many places have custom garbage trucks. Custom armatures for lifting cans, custom design for collecting recycling, etc etc. The thing that makes them economical is scale, and when the government is buying you can guarantee scale.
If something can overflow, it will. If something can stink, it will!
Homeless in San Francisco already have plans to move in them !

Germany became profitable from recycling in 90's after Government's subsidizing prior to that. Many other countried are using incredible techologies, from which US can and should imitate.

I used to live in Germany and when they started recycling, there were about four bins issued to residents for different things. They are very organized that way. They had special dumpsters in the village for clear glass, green glass and brown glass (wine bottles). These underground dumpsters do not surprise me.
Every metropolitan needs this. Would ease much of rat issues as well.
We need this in the US. This is pure genius.

To add recycling with pay for items worth money would eliminate excessive trash!
To add paying for recyclable goods, would not eliminate excessive trash. it would merely reduce it a little bit . Way too many Americans just don’t give a damn about recycling. Because it causes extra handling/ extra work.

@danwallace9734 when newspaper or cardboard was paid for many cashed it in along with glass. Rag man used to make money. When cities took over recycling to steal the pennies from poor citizens. They made millions from forcing citizens to give up recycling. Of course why would we like recycling for weaponized government robs us?

I wish we had these in America
We had the opportunity to see something similar in Colorado springs. We saw a city worker unlock the top of a round can and latch a crane around the top then pulled a 20 ft bag out of the ground full of trash. Then install a fresh 20 ft insert back into the ground. Really cool idea.

They were in use in spanish cities already in the early 2000. I saw them in Talavera, it is an awesome solution for garbage management, I'd wish they had it in every apartment complex in Houston
In some places they have those same bins connected to large underground pneumatic tubes that use suction to send the waste to the processing facilities directly from the bins! :)

There is a scene at the end of the film where a child is playfully playing with an animal and accidentally falls. I don’t know if anyone thought something like this would happen.
I love this idea rats and other critters can't get to it but people want be able to hear a babies cry as easily if they get thrown in there by other vermin

Every kind of environmental impact study, cost/benefit analysis, impact to future budget outlays in sanitation funding, is the bin maker minority or woman or even better Trans owned, how will it enhance or adversely affect various demographic groups, and other requirements that waste money in the most unfathomable way...

Why would anyone approach a normal-looking waste basket with a full bag of trash like the video shows piled inside? That is a dumpster inviting people to throw in loose trash which is something most garbage collection services tell you not to do.

The problem is what to do with garbage, not so much,picking it up.

This is the greatest yet most brilliant design done by human....I love it and those who are worried about dropping car key or phone or even finding human inside can imagine about the sensor they have...they can upgrade the sensor to sense the presence of human inside.....
Local government need to see the advantages.
