Hello! 👋 I love to see these young skaters working hard and preparing for competitions! I was a competitive artistic skater many years ago and still skate in my dreams. I would love to come visit your rink, and watch your students skate sometime. I have a pair of Goldstars and a pair of Harliks that could use a bit of cleaning up after not being used for a while. When would be a good time to stop in so that I can meet the coaches and ask a few questions? We would be traveling from Fairfield Glade so it's a bit of a drive and would like to plan ahead. Thanks so much. Love, light and many blessings. 🧡🕯🙏

Hi, Jennaleigh! I'm Jeremy, the videographer and curator for Skateway's UA-cam channel. Thanks for taking the time to write. I've passed your message to Paul Hinton, their coach. He would be best to speak with in regards to having you visit with him and his students. I'm sure we can work it out. Contact Skateway's main office at 423-968-9680 and ask for Paul Hinton and they will put you in touch with him directly. Depending on the circumstances I may even be open to filming your visit (If you're open to the idea) for another video on competition skating.

@@bristolskateway Hello.😊 Thank you so much for responding to me Jeremy. I am so excited to come and visit. I will call the rink for information sometime between now and the 1st. I truly am very impressed watching the coaches with the students as well as the stellar filming. There aren't many rinks out there that take roller skating seriously anymore. I can tell not only is your rink serious about competing but also, you can tell your skaters have quite a bit of talent. I look forward to visiting with you all soon. Wishing you all wonderful holidays.🎄

Group lessons are every Saturday from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM for $12.00. This price includes admission, skate rental, 45 minutes of class instruction, PLUS the 11:00 AM-1:30 PM public session that follows.
As to private one-on-one lessons, you'll have to contact them at (423) 968-9680. The fees are determined by age, current skill level and level you wish to accomplish. I don't personally have that info as I film and maintain their channel.
      Hope that helps!

The very first lesson I could not stand how condescending you were to that little girl. I was thinking of taking lessons but thats a hard no for me now. WOW. You need some lessons in how to speak to people and instruct- so passive aggressive!!!

Hi, Amanda. I was the camera operator at this event. I can't speak on behalf of Bristol Skateway, but perhaps I can address your concerns with my history with filming this instuctor. These skaters are competition skaters, including the little girl you are referring to. They are not beginners. Their level of training requires a certain level of discipline, such as when they fall, they aren't coddled. Tough talk is a part of it. They fully understand the methodology; a methodology not utilized with beginners. The instructor (Paul) works with children of varying levels and his method is different with each of them. Competitive skaters are, in essence, in a boot camp of sorts, where a higher degree of expectation and pressure awaits them on the competitive floor. Paul prepares them for that and he has a history of creating champion skaters with the way he instructs them. Young Olympians face the same type of instructors. The harsh discipline on the floor prepares them for the pressure. So competitive skating on the national stage requires a lot of mental discipline. It's not only about being able to perform tricks.
I've worked for a few years with these wonderful children. I know their parents and they are present during these special training sessions. They watch and hear how everything is working, but they understand the method and why it is necessary. It should be noted that there is quite a bit of support from Paul, myself, the skaters and the parents. Everyone is involved.
I just returned from filming them today and they have advanced beyond what you see here. They are all happy and I have an upcoming video where the skaters speak about their training and skating history. If I felt these kids were being mistreated in any way, I wouldn't be a part of it.
All that said, I would share your concern if these were beginners. Your point is sound if this were the case. I'll see to it that the description of this video reflects that some of these are competitive skaters under a more disciplined method.

@@VXSkate1 Thanks for the response you gave to Amanda. Everybody needs to hear this, especially me. Paul really cares about his athletes.🛼

Figure skating coaches can be brutal, but they're paid to help their athletes reach their skating potential and become champions. That's why skating coaches scream "push, push, push, push" when their athletes practice their programs during lessons. Their lesson time is precious in more ways than one. I never thought about this until now.🛼⛸️

@@lauribricker9439 No problem. I can see how his instruction can be misconstrued. I did point it out in another video where I interviewed him: ua-cam.com/video/fJCceXPId2E/v-deo.html

At least the coach has a broader vocabulary than "stop", "no", "don't", and the all-time favorite "no! stop!" l.o.l.🛼♥️
