I am what I always thought was a lifelong leftie, used to think Communism was a pretty rad model and Zionism was racist sh*te (cos that's what I was told it is). I have a whole long line of Ashkenazi (ie. evil coloniser) DNA, basically 1/4, and there are branches of my family missing due to being rounded up in Poland and gassed to death and incinerated in the Shoah. I don't live in Israel, but since this bloody war began, it feels like I've awakened and been guided to voices like Mosab Hassan Yousef, Einat, Benny Morris and many others who challenge old assumptions and it is strange, but I have never felt more Jewish and connected to and protective of this part of my DNA, and even the land I never had much interest in seeing before. What Einat said about Jews being, above all else, a "tribe" really resonates. It's a visceral yearning, in my case now, that I can't ignore, despite it being a reviled position among my (former?) ideological allies. Nearly all the lefties around me are either apologising for Hommus or outright casting them as freedom fighters, and insisting on a two-state solution that neither side wants any more, and it feels like my allies have inadvertently become enemies. I don't believe I have shifted in my politics, but the left certainly seems to have busted through that Overton window into extremism (via identity politics). I don't know that the left/right continuum works as a spectrum but rather loops around itself like a circle. Swing too far in any one direction, you end up becoming the thing you think you oppose. All this to say - you're not alone in being a leftie AND not wanting the extermination of your/our people by religious nutters! I agree. It's always sad to see how most Jewish and just people in general have a very negative view on Christianity. Whilst is true that Christianity did awful things during the Inquisition time, for example, but this didn't come from the Bible. Jesus Christ taught us compassion and forgiveness towards the ones who do us wrong, and He died for the Jewish people in an act of love. But as Jordan Peterson says: ''Religion can be perverted when people want power'', I think there was a time when the church was corrupted but again, this was all man-made. It didn't come from the Scriptures. I just wish people would understand this. I love Jewish people and I'm sorry that they have a long history of being persecuted by many different groups.

Yeah the first believers were Jewish and the theology is jewish. I do think people also forget that the jewish authorities at the time persecuted the messianic Jews, so when it became majority gentile (roman) there was a lot resentment. She says that she looks at her Jewishness as belonging to a tribe rather than as a faith and then says that Western secularist don’t understand how Christian they are. Does she not see that her tribe was as influenced by faith as western secularism was by Christianity? Seems odd that modern western Christianity is getting the blame for secularism. I believe that Israel gave Gaza more than enough time, and opportunity to just chill just do your thing. Every time they poke and prod at Israel, Israel HAS to respond, and they've not, not every single time. All the harassment led to an accumulation of suppressive acts, in response. Gradually building into what they are brandishing for everyone to see and must accept independently of their own actions against Israel. As the eldest brother of 5 siblings, i understand this all too well. Tere's always one younger pest that irritates until you react, then when you do, everyone sees your reaction, you are then punished for your reaction, and then they start again... this is the way I see this situation. If the "Palestinians" have any self-awareness they should also see this, they also need to recognise when they've suffered enough, understanding that the irritation has just continued well past the ability for Israel to reasonably justify inaction, or rather, limited reaction. They absolutely NEEDED to react, and only stop when the "little brother" while turning blue in a chokehold, finally decides he's had enough, and then decides to give up. I am disappointed that you did not challenge any of your guest’s statements. The early Zionists knew well before 1948 that they could not have a Jewish state in a land that was majority Muslim. In 1948, they solved that problem by conducting an ethnic cleansing operation whereby 750,000 Palestinians were made refugees through force and terrorism. Many massacres happened as well. Is it not racist to only allow people from your own ethnic group to live in their own homes. In the current day, is it not racist to have one set of laws for Jews and a different set for Arabs? Considering the current situation in Gaza, this interview is in extremely poor taste and leaves me deeply disappointed in AP. I rejoice every time AP posts a video. This one, specially, holds a special place for me, it kind of awnwered the questions i had about bing torn betwin being a zionist little jew, and a leftist (don't like the term, preffer stalinist, or comunist). Well, this video does the math of saying that, if Israel is gone, we will have a genocide worse than the Holocaust, it will be an end to my people. I am what I always thought was a lifelong leftie, used to think Communism was a pretty rad model and Zionism was racist sh*te (cos that's what I was told it is). I have a whole long line of Ashkenazi (ie. evil coloniser) DNA, basically 1/4, and there are branches of my family missing due to being rounded up in Poland and gassed to death and incinerated in the Shoah. I don't live in Israel, but since this bloody war began, it feels like I've awakened and been guided to voices like Mosab Hassan Yousef, Einat, Benny Morris and many others who challenge old assumptions and it is strange, but I have never felt more Jewish and connected to and protective of this part of my DNA, and even the land I never had much interest in seeing before. What Einat said about Jews being, above all else, a "tribe" really resonates. It's a visceral yearning, in my case now, that I can't ignore, despite it being a reviled position among my (former?) ideological allies.
Nearly all the lefties around me are either apologising for Hommus or outright casting them as freedom fighters, and insisting on a two-state solution that neither side wants any more, and it feels like my allies have inadvertently become enemies. I don't believe I have shifted in my politics, but the left certainly seems to have busted through that Overton window into extremism (via identity politics). I don't know that the left/right continuum works as a spectrum but rather loops around itself like a circle. Swing too far in any one direction, you end up becoming the thing you think you oppose. All this to say - you're not alone in being a leftie AND not wanting the extermination of your/our people by religious nutters! I think it's a very normal and sane position, but what do I know, I'm just the great grandchild of people who are to blame for all the badness in the world, apparently!

I agree. It's always sad to see how most Jewish and just people in general have a very negative view on Christianity. Whilst is true that Christianity did awful things during the Inquisition time, for example, but this didn't come from the Bible. Jesus Christ taught us compassion and forgiveness towards the ones who do us wrong, and He died for the Jewish people in an act of love.
But as Jordan Peterson says: ''Religion can be perverted when people want power'', I think there was a time when the church was corrupted but again, this was all man-made. It didn't come from the Scriptures. I just wish people would understand this.

Yeah the first believers were Jewish and the theology is jewish. I do think people also forget that the jewish authorities at the time persecuted the messianic Jews, so when it became majority gentile (roman) there was a lot resentment. Really disappointing to hear this. Einat Wilf, being an atheist, has denied the spiritual aspect of this war and ongoing hatred against Israel - which is the key. Yes, man-made religion is always wrong (Jesus Himself said that) but there IS the real thing. She shouldn't try to explain Christianity as she doesn't understand what true Christianity is - in a nutshell: receiving a new heart and a new Spirit (being born-again). - Those to whom that has happened have a love for Israel that wasn't there before (watch the testimonies of ex-Muslims who become Christian). Even AP acknowledged in his video about his trip to Israel that the undeserved hatred towards them seemed like it came from something bigger - demonic. He was right - it is. Though many in Israel are now secular - the land is joined to the Jews because God gave it to them thousands of years ago - and they believed Him.

As for the tribal idea it is true. Jews do try to help each other out if they are able, they give charity if they are of means stuff like that. I am coming at this from a Protestant Christian perspective but I am still confused about a couple of her points. Maybe someone can fill in my lack of knowledge.
She says that she looks at her Jewishness as belonging to a tribe rather than as a faith and then says that Western secularist don’t understand how Christian they are. Does she not see that her tribe was as influenced by faith as western secularism was by Christianity? Seems odd that modern western Christianity is getting the blame for secularism. As AP said, western Christianity is one of Israel’s biggest supports.
She also talked about the history of Christian persecution as they cannot look at Jews as having power and let it be. I agree there was persecution but was that the reason or was it that the Jews were a small disjointed “tribe” that set themselves apart, had different customs but had little power? Seems odd that western thought would look at a group that had little power and think hmm, I can’t stand the thought that Jews have power and I can’t let that be. It seems that following WW2, western culture used its considerable power to ensure that the Jews could unite and have their own power base.
I may be reading too much into it, but it felt like she took a chance to poke a finger in the eye of religion; Or there is more going on that I am unaware of. Shrug.

I believe that Israel gave Gaza more than enough time, and opportunity to just chill just do your thing.
Every time they poke and prod at Israel, Israel HAS to respond, and they've not, not every single time.
All the harassment led to an accumulation of suppressive acts, in response.
Gradually building into what they are brandishing for everyone to see and must accept independently of their own actions against Israel.
As the eldest brother of 5 siblings, i understand this all too well. Tere's always one younger pest that irritates until you react, then when you do, everyone sees your reaction, you are then punished for your reaction, and then they start again... this is the way I see this situation.
If the "Palestinians" have any self-awareness they should also see this, they also need to recognise when they've suffered enough, understanding that the irritation has just continued well past the ability for Israel to reasonably justify inaction, or rather, limited reaction.
They absolutely NEEDED to react, and only stop when the "little brother" while turning blue in a chokehold, finally decides he's had enough, and then decides to give up.
The ONLY way I see this turning out good for the region is if all the land is given to Israel, they govern and are thereby held accountable for the lives of the people living within their country.
Don't you fear that would lead to civil war - a one-state solution where it all becomes Israel, if that's what you're proposing? Their right of return mythology seems so deeply set in to their psyche, passed down in story from parent to child. And if they want independence, why shouldn't they have it? (and I say that knowing that there is absolutely no guarantee that sovereignty as a nation would stop the Jen O'Cidal attempts on Israelis by extremists/Islamists, just that they would be held more accountable and won't be able to keep relying on the victimhood narrative once they get what the Western world thinks they want)...

I am disappointed that you did not challenge any of your guest’s statements. The early Zionists knew well before 1948 that they could not have a Jewish state in a land that was majority Muslim. In 1948, they solved that problem by conducting an ethnic cleansing operation whereby 750,000 Palestinians were made refugees through force and terrorism. Many massacres happened as well. Is it not racist to only allow people from your own ethnic group to live in their own homes. In the current day, is it not racist to have one set of laws for Jews and a different set for Arabs? Considering the current situation in Gaza, this interview is in extremely poor taste and leaves me deeply disappointed in AP. The state of Israel is currently putting civilians in Gaza through what can only be described as hell on earth. This cruel treatment of the Palestinians will not make them into better people; it just makes them suffer.
I know that many Palestinians are muslims, and I know that many of them probably hold views that followers of this channel find off-putting to say the least. But them being muslims does not justify the crimes committed against them by the state of Israel. Nobody deserves that.
I agree and feel the same. I know AP hates Muslims but what Israel has been doing to the Palestinians is beyond cruel. This category of 'religion' is indeed a Western construct, but not only with regard to the Jews. Until the emergence of the secular state, what we call religion was simply part of the culture of a particular people in a particular place, and those that sojourned with them. One can say that this was an Enlightenment move to a non-religous foundation, a reaction to the European religious wars, or a development in the Christian spiritualization of religious themes that transcend ethnicity, language, etc.
