You got some great books Steve. those cold war books are going to be fascinating especially with all that's been going on... All these books sound pretty interesting, except Imminent Danger. It's the vol. 1 that frightens me.

I don’t know anything about Country Dark per se, but I did read a really interesting memoir a couple of years ago by the author about his tyrannical father, who wrote sci-fi and pornography and ruled the family with an iron fist. It was called, appropriately enough, My Father the Pornographer.

I've been slowly making my way through Vollmann's many works. I would absolutely love a copy of No Immediate Danger when you're through with it. Your apprehension over its quality has piqued my interest. Vollmann can be all over the place sometimes.
