I have fished for giant yellowfin with the Osuna's and it was nothing short of epic! Danny not only knows how to put you on them but exactly what works for catching the giants!!
Kite fishing is the coolest fishing i have ever seen when you know what you are doing. I live on the gulfcoast in Alabama and worked as a Deckhand on a charter boat for 4 years, we hit it really good on a 36 hour trip back in 2016 in june 90 miles out. With a box load with a 2 day limt of big red snaper that afternoon we got word the yellow fin were at this drill ship so we went. the guy i was working with probably the best kite fisherman ever and the first mate of the boat he was pissing the tuna off and had them gitting airborn for these freaking out live baits. We had about 9 nice ones almost all on the kite some came from chunking witch is what i was doing we shut down at midnight to pull back up to a rig 80 miles out at 5 the next morning on the way back in the capt set up about 50 yards from the rig me and another boy put live baits on the chunk lines as i watched the first mate grab the bigest hard tail in the boat the first one of the morning at that.i watched as he sent it out on the kite right by the rig. i hooked up with a small shark right away and the other boy got a barracuda. Not even to min out and all the sudden it looked like someone pushed a fridge off the rig on top of the hardtail, 2 hours and 45 min. 6 guys a harpoon and 3 gaffes later we landed a 214ib yellow fin a true fish of a lifetime. I feel truly blessed that i got to experience it.
During my time in research & development in the u.S. Navy, we discovered that the main reason fish fight so efficiently is because in the water they aren't as inhibited by gravity as we are! This allows them tremendous power to use at will! Even when they get exhausted, they have a tendency to sink, not float, which gives them the ability to use gravity at this point against you!
It's really hard to use the harness on a boat this size because the fish will take you around the boat several times. Going up stairs, under anchors, etc is really tough in the harness. The rail technique lets us put pressure on the fish while still staying mobile.
This was a good one! How frustrated was Rush when you brought that cow boat-side in 30m Ali and it took him countless hours to boat his? Just the luck of the draw I guess. Good knots, proper gear, and put the wood to em!
Yup.. I love when they make that initial run for china run. They wear themselves out and from there it's just like pulling dead weight. You guys going back and forth is very fun to watch! You guys should run a contest to fish with you and Rush =)
God Day to you this is addictive I watch it over and over I have one question please tell me who make those rod blanks that you use to catch the big tuna thank you for your reply
Hey Ali what was the size of your fish?! Some of the best sickle fins i have seen!! 300? Who’s boat was that I recognize Danny but that boat is twice the size of the Marla II😂?
No question about it. I’ll never forget that McClellanville two part episode. That’s my neck, and it was fun seeing y’all reel em in time and time again in my backyard. Big boys too. It was also nice to hear Ali say it was probably one of the best single days fishing he ever had. We have it good hear in the lowcountry. Keep doing what you’re doing guys. I enjoy it immensely...thanks
Great video. Unfortunately the longer the fish is on the line the lesser the quality of the meat. My personal best was in San Jose Del Cabo and landed a 90 pound ahi in 20 minutes.
This is true to an extent. We really haven't been able to tell the difference on the plate, but lactic acid can break down the meat for sure. Either way, this tuna didn't even make it to the freezer. We ate it on the boat.
IDK. Seems like he played a lot with that fish and more or less let the fish dictate the game. I have caught 7 foot bull sharks on spinning gear. Not the same fish, I know, but usually no more than 30-40 minutes. Yellowtail are awesomely strong fish for sure.
That's a very tough comparison. These 175-250# yellowfin tuna are some of the hardest fighters in the ocean with stamina that a shark just can't match.

Idk how many times I’ve revisited this episode. So, so good
WE love to hear that.
A lot of subtle but solid advice and tips laced with all the commentary on this video. Keep'em coming... Thanks.
Glad you're picking up what we are putting down John!

Danny and family definitely know the big YFT game.
Really great episode...I could almost feel Rush's pain each time he reeled down on that Cow! Great job guys!
Thanks Michael! We are teaching Rush to fish but he's a slow learner. haha. Thanks for writing. Ali
Can't believe this doesn't have more views! Very well produced.
Neither can we! Please help spread the word by sharing with your friends!
You guys are making amazing memories! That is awesome! Fantastic work guys!
Amazing episode, I’m almost finished with season two. I usually target Kelp Bass, Perch, White Fish, and Sculpin. You guys are the real deal.
Thank you Nick! Keep catching!

The crasy part is that he was caught on a 30 not a 30 wide but a 30 with 150 pound test braided power pro with 150 yards of 150 ib mono top shot.
We agree. Nothing like a kite bite to get the blood pumping!
If ypu fight with your reel , you're going to get spooled. You fight with your ROD! 😎
So true!
Some men have stronger rods than others. I am Asian so I have a small rod. Takes me hours to pull in a tuna. 😂
Ali: _"we're gonna make a west coast angler out of you yet"_
Rush: _"It can't be hard, you're one"_
LOL
Doh!
savage
Harsh!
O Soup
Ali loves to smack talk but Rush has the return quips on lock
Man I couldn’t imagine. You guys are animals! Great to watch. 👊🏼
Thanks Jason. Big yellowfins get us pumped!
Awesome show Again! You guys are living the Dream!

I’ve been to PV twice with Marlas Sportfishing. 1st trip I got a 270# in 20 minutes. 2nd trip I got a 225 in 40 minutes. I’m ready for my third trip!
The Osuna boys get them for sure!

awesome video, makes me miss the south...
Thanks!
Two absolute dream fish for different reasons ...
wow that makes me want to tame a cow.
Nothing like it!
Awesome episode
Thank you sir.
You guys should come to cape cod. Put you on a spinning rod catching 100-400lb blue fin. Ha
We are headed that way in July Colton!
Rush will be living the dream using the spinning gear! Get a stella 20k in his hands on a big fish he will have a blast!
The best of the best was Ali's 30 minute Tuna !!! :-))
haha. He hasn't let Rutchy forget about it.
i look forward to every new video y'all put out! keep it going!
how about using a harness that would help?
+ben conolly its he west coast bud

Wow that was awesome
Thanks for checking us out Larry. New episodes start in April on Discovery channel.
im going to puerto Vallarta this weekend and fishing for black marlin, blue marlin, yellowfin tuna ,wahoo, and dorado.
Good luck! It's an awesome fishery.

He pretty much wanted to kill me. Every fish is different and mine screwed up by running off 3/4 of a spool to start with.

I spent an hour and 45 minutes on a 7.5 ft. Pacific Sail off Costa Rica, it's no joke
That's a workout!
That is insane! Crazy Cows, yo!
and a Super Cow, yo! Too much fun.
Good fishing day in Puerto Vallarta jal .mxgood job mexican

Hey Ali what was the size of your fish?!
Some of the best sickle fins i have seen!! 300?
Who’s boat was that I recognize Danny but that boat is twice the size of the Marla II😂?
That fish taped at 309. We were fishing on a private yacht out of Puerto Vallarta called the Northwind.
30 freakin' minutes Ali!? Are you freaking kidding me!? Lol i quit fishing! Lol
Every once in a while the blind squirrel finds a nut....
May i ask what size of penn international and what line ratingvyou were using nice vid
PENN 50VISX with 130# Seaguar Threadlock braid.
Even I need a nap...and I watched from a chair
It wouldn't be fun if it was easy.

meanwhile in hawaii guys are catching 100 pound yellow fin tuna's on kayaks haha
Those boys are crazy over there.
HOLY COW!
We are still blown away that we were able to get 2/3 cows on film!
You said there tuna swimming with dolphins. How do you avoid hooking into dolphins while fishing for tuna?
We fish among the dolphin all the time. They are way to smart to get hooked.
Local Knowledge Fishing Show these thing can recognize hooks and lures?
what did these monsters tape out too?
207 and 309 I believe!
Why did you fish without a belt/harness??
We use the rail on big boats that can’t manuever to the fish. It’s deadly effective once you get the technique down.
Marlin is my favorite meat by far
We are all about the tuna!
I took an 80lb bluefin on a jig stick. What a nightmare. 😂
Fun quickly turns to pain! Nice work.
What boat/charter were you on
We were on a private boat with friends.
Wow

85' Hatteras.

what lb mono did you use
We usually use 130# Big Game Floro for baits and 300# for Kite Baits.
“The baddest animal in the ocean”
Yup!
20 or 30 size international?
30 minimum for fish this size. A 50 is even better.

keep the knees off the deck! save that shit for church!
Rail rod fishing requires you to get low to really pull at times, thus the knees on the deck.
The animosity between you to is annoying to watch
There's not animosity. Just two buddies having a blast and busting a few balls along the way....
I got you... total respect for you all and what you doing and those cow Tunas you were catching don't have anything like that here in South Florida
you are not supposed to board bill fish, terrible
WE don't normally due this but the mate jumped the gun.
Lots of recycled footage in these videos; it gets boring.
Not sure what you mean. We reset some screens up this is all new stuff filmed a couple months ago.
