I miss my Grandmother so much too.
I didn't think she could deliver a pro performance at this level. From the start she has always sang from the heart with a warm loving voice but her problem is lack of self belief and lack of confidence at the pro level of singing. This was a musical moment. The last time I experienced something this heartfelt was Nightbirde's Golden Buzzer audition on AGT. Not many has these kind of moments on TV. Even the silent pause was heartfelt at 3:36.

I can't stop listening to this song. My mother was the daughter of a coal mineral. She lived this song. She would tell us kids all the stories about how she grew up. My past away about 2 years ago. When she sang the line nothing lives here anymore ...just a memory of a coal miner's daughter, I completely lost it. It just brought me to tears. The summer before my mom past she took me to the place where she grew up on the mountain. Nothing was there anymore. The house she was literally born in up on the mountain is gone...nothing left but memories. And now that's all I have is the memories of a coal miner's daughter.
I was weeping during this beautiful interpretation of her Grandmother’s classic song. Emmy Rose 🌹 Russell is the next American Idol in my book. Voted 🗳️

She can sing, she just had nerves which set her songs off a bit as you can feel it in her voice - but in this performance, it is like all nerves went out the window and she was having that connection and moment with her grandma during the singing of this. I was crying - the judges were crying, the other contestants were crying and I'm the audience was too.

I’ve been listening to this song since it was originally released. I never would’ve thought anyone other than Loretta and Sissy could do it justice. This little gal just blew me away!
Gosh I had to fight back tears becaues it stirred my love for Loretta Lynn but also to hear this come from the heart of her loving granddaughter.
To me, Emmy was always the wildcard and dark horse in the competition this year, but she is the most genuine person and it comes through in her songs. She’s so loveable you just want to hug her and tell her it’s going to be all right! I think she has one of the most unique voices on AI this year because you know it’s her when you hear her sing. She reminds me a lot of Donna Lewis “I love you always forever….”
This was by far her best night, along with her duet with Jack. I think America is in love with her because she’s the true definition of “humble and kind” and when she sings you believe every word.
I grew up on Miss Loretta Lynn and her music in the 70s, along with Conway Twitty and to see her great granddaughter come into her own and feel good to be herself. Emmy is talented in her own right and in her singing style and she’s gone through so many personal battles its an inspiration for us all. Her vulnerability is now her strength and I’m so proud of her!!! ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

I'm not American, I don't have an emotional memory with Loretta Lynn's music, matter fact I had never heard of her before I saw Emmy Russell. And I cried so much watching Emmy's video because she's the sweetest and I believe in her but most important I believe HER. She's a true artist, she feels the music, she performs, she's respectful and highly sensitive. It's in her blood but it's also in her spirit. And she also has the sweetest eyes. I saw and Irish ancestor, coming from Ireland singing on the ships and over the seas, then getting to America to work in the coal mines, then continue singing till these days though her.

This was Emmy’s best performance, hands tf down. Wow. She felt safe and in her lane on the piano. Her voice shined, but more importantly this was simply a granddaughter singing to her grandma. yes...yes. Loretta wrote this song back in 1969 and it was released in 1970 when America was a proud country in manufacturing and advancing technology. Back then it was hard work in the coal mines and factories, and it made out country strong in pride. It's sad how things have changed and a horrific country in Asia with no ethics, etc., that's winning the war.

Never thought that I would hear this song sung like that. It's not an easy one. It's an old-time song, and Emmy made it new and amazing. I was really shocked to see such a great performance. So touching because its a true story about Loretta's life and her daddy. Her daddy was a great hard working American, raising his family and she was proud of that. It's real and raw. I saw Loretta in Sprindale Arkansas when I was there years ago at an event and she seems like an angel. I see that in Emmy too. I certainly hope Emmy can write more great songs and find ones that fit her well. I can't wait to see great things happen for her.
