Meta Taro is the song of a robot hero that comes from outer space to save us all. They are joking/making a tribute to the music of the _sentai_ genre from the 70s, with an obvious reference to Ultraman (that happened to be a robot from outer space whose name was Taro). The song also has a pace that feels like japanese sports galas music, specially the one that's played before the baseball matches. Oh and please do not spread that rumor of the treadmill, we don't know were it was originated but there is no known source that says something about that. Somehow it's a legend that started to spread among youtube comments.

5:39 let's appreciate SU expression here 😅 (from Wembley), this is one of their funniest choreographies, and one of the song they enjoy most playing on stage, especially SU. 🤘🦊⚡
You guys missed out. They've been to Dallas twice, Houston, and Austin. I hope to see you at the next Babymetal concert when the world goes back to normal.
Great reactions ! Legendary horror composer, John Carpenter has revealed to Kerrang! that he’s a huge fan of BABYMETAL a few days ago. “I am a fan. I love Metallica~My son is obsessed with all things Japanese, so he showed me BABYMETAL and I couldn’t believe it. They’re awesome. What a great idea!~my life will be complete if I get endorsed by the Japanese group BABYMETAL."
The "Su practices singing on a treadmill" is a rumor. It's something a lot of Idols probably practice early in their careers, singing while doing heavy dancing. J-Pop live is all about performance and choreo, so if the performers can sing while they dance it's a plus, if not they probably do more playback or use a lot of backing track than live singing. Su is obviously more talented than most, so it probably comes easier for her to stay on pitch while jumping around, but her choreo is of course toned down compared to Moa & Yui because BABYMETAL cares more about her singing live than doing the same choreo the other two do. Moa (still) has the J-Pop approach in a sense that she uses backing track to support when she does more strenuous choreo because her mic volume is turned pretty low so the hard(er) breathing isn't audible, which is totally ok in my eyes, her role is "scream & dance" after all. The compilation is unfortunately pretty bad, but I think it's the only one on UA-cam. The audio is from different concerts mixed together and the video footage switches from shows with all three to Legend S, which was the first without Yui and back to a different one with all three together again and so on every few seconds. To give an example for the audio, Yui sings the first line of her part in the first verse, probably audio from Tokyo Dome, half a second later it switches to the Legend S concert when the crowd continues to sing the second line because she wasn't even on stage at that show and then it switches back to Yui singing the third line. It's pretty well edited together so you probably don't even notice it if you don't know, but I hope the people who make the compilations stop mixing audio from different concerts in one video.
@Alen Ardianas Yeah, I just used "jumping around" for another way of saying she's active/dances on stage, thanks for pointing it out. There are a few songs she really jumps when performing, but you can see most of the time the jumps are timed exactly so that she only sings before jumping or after she lands.
Ah I see. I had see just seen it so much in the comments I didn't know it was a rumor. As for the compilation I actually noticed right away just didn't comment on it. This video was one out sponsor picked so we went with it.
Exactly... Su is very economical and efficient in her movements. She obviously work out a lot and is in great shape, but she has also learnt to dance in a way that allows her to conserve energy and not run out of breath. As you said, her voice is MUCH more important than her dancing, and the other two (Moa + Yui/Avenger) are in charge of firing up the audience and doing the harder choreo.
META!META!META!♪META Taro♪META Taro♪ You are the HERO♪ You guys are really nice combination😂👍 Never stop talking guy and patient guy are so much fun. I like both of you😆 Thank you for reacting.
I can't say that this is among my favorite BM songs... But it seems like Su loves it, and loves to get WTF responses from people. This song had a really funny moment when Joakim Broden (Sabaton) and Darth Vader (from Galactic Empire, and current West Kami Band guitarist) joined BM on stage, and they didn't know what to do and had such a confused look while 25K Japanese fans sang this song.
You were trying to remember a familiar lullaby this song reminds you of... It has been suggested the melody of Meta Taro references Sting's 1985 song "Russians" and Prokofiev's 1934 film score "Lieutenant Kije".
I can't believe my eyes Two babymetal songs in a weeek? Thank youu good siress! Though it might be only a rumor that she sings on treadmill I think the technique she do with her voice, more like focused with breathing. I've once read that it'sot only the dance that is choreographed but also her breathing is choreographed, which is pretty complex whenever i think about it
Great reaction as always ... but I was getting flashbacks to being sick on the Channel Ferry when I was on that in a force 8 gale and everything was rolling round.
Suu-metal once said in an interview that META TARO was her favorite, because she feels she can connect with younger audience with this song. Fun little song ain't it? Nothing too serious or too streneous, simple, light and playful, with ULTRAMAN stances, easy to follow and to chant. Uniquely pleasant ^^
The first verse of the song is the main reason I love this song as much. They all sing separately on the verse which I think is something unique to this song.
Love your reactions as always! The stage with fox head surrounding was from Legend S Baptism XX which is thr first time they perform without Yui as it was advised by her doctor not to perform due to her health condition. However, despite the absence of Yui on stage, the crowd help sing Yui's lines for her. Very heartwarming. In one of their performances (if I'm not mistaken, the Dark Night Carnival performance), they were later joined by Sabaton's Joakim Broden and a Darth Vader on stage. It was an adorable thing to see. If you want to hear another BABYMETAL song wherein they used a sound from another country, you might want to try Shanti Shanti Shanti, Night Night Burn, or Oh! Majinai. You'll love how much creativity was put in writing these songs. Kitsunes up!
You know what bugs me a lot (in a good way), that these girls are still young and they haven't reached their full potential yet. imagine them at age of 25, they`ll be massive. sure they are very popular now, but in 3 year time they will be dominating the music industry completely. Meta Taro is one of my favorite . That Folk Metal is amazing with that flute sound . And The Coreography is so unique . I still wait for Yava! and Awadama Fever . Metal Resistance is great album Good reaction again 🤘
The instrumental gives me a lot of Sabaton vibes, and they even have Joachim from Sabaton come out on stage during one of their shows to join the chanting part haha! I believe this is supposed to be a folky sort of song. But it's such a catchy song.
@@dicodec this happened at Dark Night Carnival where Sabaton and Galactic Empire were the opening acts. Galactic Empire (minus the drummer) would go on to become the Western division of the Kami Band, and Joakim from Sabaton would go on to feature on "Oh! MAJINAI" from Metal Galaxy.
Am i first? Are UA-cam notifications working again? Anyway, good reaction, Su has said that this is her favorite song from the album metal resistance because the melody is easy for the crowd to sing to, have a good day
This song just underlines that you can never predict the next Babymetal song. As to their physical conditioning I have read that Su does sing between reps. Their physical conditioning is at the Olympic athlete level. Keep in mind dancing is a conditioning exercise. They have disciple and focus that is directly related to their professionalism. The only non-Babymetal I know of is Moa said that she was looking forward to her 21st birthday so she could drink beer with Su!! There is a video just about Moa's arm, you would not want to arm wrestle her!!
@@phillipgregory9671 Moa in an interview said that something she would go back a change was her pre-performance routine. Likely something that the Lady Gaga dancers taught her. I do believe that Su stops and sings while working out, but the treadmill thing is a bit iffy.
Meta Taro is very underappreciated in my opinion. I do not understand why people dislike this song. For me it ranks above the songs everyone else goes ape shit over like BMC or Kingslayer. (Yes I know Kingslayer is not technically a Babymetal song) 🙂
⚡ 💀 💕 / 🤖 🥁 This is Su's favorite song on the 'Metal Resistance' album. She really likes the Folk Metal stuff, fun choreography and audience participation. 'Oh! MAJINAI' is a favorite of hers on the latest album. Besides the Ultraman references, 'META! Meta Taro' is also related to the chants that Japanese baseball fans perform during games. The BABYMETAL members even mime pitching and swinging at a baseball during the song. As well as spelling out "M", "E", "T" & "A" in the choreography.
Laurence Nicholls you should get twitch. It's free and the guys stream Babymetal every Sunday morning. And also there are quite a few streamer that will do whole concerts. It's good fun.
Seems like the sarcasm of your "Su trains on a treadmill" comment was too subtle 🤣. Great reaction as always. This is a fun sing-a-long concert song with fantastic choreography that you can appreciate as BM fan. Maybe not the best choice when you are not familiar with other songs.
- First of all, I have to say it, that whole “she sings and runs on a treadmill” thing isn’t true at all and is a rumor someone made up and it has spread somehow. - Meta Taro, Oh Majanai, and BxMxC are some of the songs Su-Metal has said are her favorites to perform. - They performed this song with Joakim from Sabaton at their “Dark Night Carnival” show. - Alan is right, it is very folk song-y if that makes sense.
Su has never addressed this, so the best that we can say is, "We don't know how she does it; SHE COULD be using a treadmill while singing." You don't know that she doesn't. Use a small amount of logic- Does Su work out? Most likely she does. Does she use a treadmill? Hard to imagine a cardio routine that doesn't involve one. Does she run in silence or sing? I personally can't imagine a silent running Su. Is this how she prepares for shows? OTFGK
-I totally get you. I had just seen it so much in the comments I didn't know it was a rumor. -That's cool they totally seem like fun songs to perform live. - I've definitely got to see that! -ah i see
At first I imagined a company of soldiers on a parade ground, then - robots in action, then schoolchildren in a sports camp chanting together. No picture held in my head. What was that? Funny song in order to charge the crowd with positive emotions. Here, somehow I did it. Don't judge me, friends for commenting. Thanks for the reaction. It's good to see you and hear you. (Yes, about sexuality: I noticed it too)
Alan nailed this one quickly - marching tune, lots of audience participation. I'd guess they practice the choreography and vocal together quite a bit. They certainly need to be fit to keep the level of performance high. If you want to see it taken to extremes, check out the endurance challenges groups associated with WACK have done.
Hadn't heard this one much. Gives me a, "I'm going to join the armed forces and end up stealing a submarine at some point" kinda feel... But I guess a lot of things give me that feeling.
The cool part is that this recording was two snipped together 1 from a early on concert and the 2nd from a much later concert after Yui had left the band due to health reasons. That is also when they had 3 other girls replacing Yui's spot they were never named on the offical channel they had a nickname I forget what it was, but eventually it was discovered who it was one of which I remember Sayashi Riho. Oddly enough a former member of the group that got me into J-Pop in the first place. Granted she was one that joined much later in the history of the group. This pop group (not metal at all) Started in 1997 the year Su was born lol. I went to Japan in 2001 saw them on TV and it was history, but oddly enough didn't fully get into Baby metal about a year ago when I saw Riho Metal former Morning Musume member was a Yui replacement. So it gave me even more reason to love the band. Babymetal is an easy for me ease into Metal. I shortly after discovered Maximum the Hormone and got to see more with this channel. I will say am very grateful for that. I know MTH songs were all over the board in genres "Let talk about mentaku something" its about exersize or obesity. But that one as you already know practically every metal song with a little bit of garage kinda or pop.
"I reallly liked that verse!" Yeah me too, which is why I'm mad at this song for only doing the verse one time. And it robbed Yui and Moa of more chances to sing!
Meta Taro isn’t my favorite but it’s more a fun song which funnily are the songs Su herself likes. Meta Taro was her favorite from MR and Oh Majinai was her favorite from MG. Also funnily enough yesterday there was an article on Kerrage where John Carpenter of Halloween and his own soundtrack fame wants to collaborate with Babymetal and they did reset it from the official account.
Burping to YUI-chan's song. SHAME ON YOU!!! In the Legend S Baptism XX the crowd sang all YUI's parts. This was the first time BM was on stage as a duo. 🦊 But i like your reaction... 😊🦊🤘 Keep safe!
This song inspires Japanese old kids and it is sensitive to the name "Taro". Because "Ultraman Taro" is an old kids hero of the 70's. This song has the vibes of the heroes' song.

Meta Taro is very underappreciated in my opinion. I do not understand why people dislike this song. For me it ranks above the songs everyone else goes ape shit over like BMC or Kingslayer. (Yes I know Kingslayer is not technically a Babymetal song) 🙂
It’s just not as exciting lol
@@crypticmisery7996 id say not as boring and not as annoying. Lol
That's cool man we all have our taste. Doesn't take away that they have some really dope tunes!
Im with u on kingslayer
I don't care what other people say. I like Babymetal
Same here! Never be ashamed!!
6:28 Best moment for sure. Amazing performance. Amazing band. Simply amazing BABYMETAL.
⚡ 💀 💕 / 🤖 🥁
This is Su's favorite song on the 'Metal Resistance' album.
Ah I see thanks so much for the insight!
This song makes me so happy 🤣 Like the opening song in My Neighbour Totoro where the adorable characters march across the screen
You're so right! It does have those vibes. It also definitely puts a smile on my face as well.
Love this song!
Dope!
Is a super Hero song, a reference of Ultraman, with a few folk metal sound
Ah I see. Very cool!
If you can find a good video for "君とアニメが見たい/Kimi to Anime ga Mitai", you should do a react for that. Great song that shiws some of Su's vocal range
They already did on twict
@@familyfriendly3064 oh did they? I don't have twitch, so i wouldn't know
Laurence Nicholls you should get twitch. It's free and the guys stream Babymetal every Sunday morning. And also there are quite a few streamer that will do whole concerts. It's good fun.
Yeah, it's like the others are saying. We did it on twitch. That one wasa dope song!
After this song you guys should react to Oh!Majinai, pirate metal from Babymetal Metal Galaxy album, which features Joakim Broden from Sabaton.
We are so down!
I feel like this has an. awesome impact when you are at the actual show.
*lmao* The editing on this one. 👌🏻
Thanks! 🤘🦊
This video is like... picking up visual effects randomly lol
That's exactly whats happening haha
OTFGK
@@KEVINTHEWS I mean, she COULD be doing anything, but that doesn’t mean you should just spread stuff around because she never said it wasn’t true lol
-I totally get you. I had just seen it so much in the comments I didn't know it was a rumor.
-That's cool they totally seem like fun songs to perform live.
- I've definitely got to see that!
-ah i see
@@dicodec no worries you’re not the first person this has happened too lol
Best reaction ever. I was truely entertained on this one. Great job!
(Yes, about sexuality: I noticed it too)
I totally has similar visuals in my head. This song is definitely a fun song for the crowd we feel!
Ah I see
i don't know wich one edited this, Eric, Alan or anyone else but it was goddamn hilarious af, thank you guys xD
It was Alan haha. Glad you enjoyed it 🤘
Hadn't heard this one much. Gives me a, "I'm going to join the armed forces and end up stealing a submarine at some point" kinda feel...
But I guess a lot of things give me that feeling.
I feel you. Whether you should do it or not us up to you haha.
@@dicodec this is true...
As far i know META TARO is a traditional japanese Military Song since over 100 years. So Babymetal made a metal Version and its Great!!
I got seasick this time lol
Oh man haha. You good? 😂
@@dicodec ya i survived ^^ thanks!
On one concert Joakim from sabaton joins them on stage for the chant
That's so awesome!!
You guys are the best!
I even want you guys to play together with Babymetal!
Thank you! That would be amazing!
The editing and that song compledted killed me by laughing :D
Glsd you liked it haha
"I reallly liked that verse!" Yeah me too, which is why I'm mad at this song for only doing the verse one time. And it robbed Yui and Moa of more chances to sing!
Hmmm i see what you mean
Editing over 9000 xD
I don't believe it was black coffee what Alan had while editing this one :D
Thanks! Right. It's as if he had some other substance haha
These edits are killing me man! 👍🤣🤣🤣🤣
Glad you like them! 🤘🦊
BABYMETAL again, SO IKIMASHOU!!!!!!!!
Heck yes!!
My national anthem......MERA TARO!!!!
Haha noice!
That melody reminded me of the Dropkick Murphys song "For Boston".
YASHHHH🔥🔥🔥
🤘🦊😀🤘
メタ太郎🎶😆
Please check out YAVA! after this I'm sure you guys will love it. Great reaction BTW
We will definitely be doing that one soon for sure.
few people react to metataro, for me one of the best, excellent video 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
We promised to react to all of BabyMetal so we stick to that haha. Thanks 🤘🦊
Ah I see that's so cool!!
Meta-Taro is imaginary super-hero of justice, but he lives in BABYMETAL's mind.
from Japan
Ah I see 🤔
Burping to YUI-chan's song. SHAME ON YOU!!! In the Legend S Baptism XX the crowd sang all YUI's parts. This was the first time BM was on stage as a duo. 🦊 But i like your reaction... 😊🦊🤘 Keep safe!
Whenever I listen to Meta Taro, it always puts me in the mind of some third world country's cheesy national anthem.
Interesting 🤔
Freaking Japanese/Irish Epic Sound!!!No Words.............
It surprised the heck out of my when I heard it but it is to be expected haha
Hey guys, loved your edit on this one, keep it going and May the Fox Be With You!! 🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼
Thank you!! We will keep pushing!
I think japanese can relate to the drum beats because it kind of like tailored to their heart..
Babymetal Tamashi No Rufuran next 🤟🏼🦊🤟🏼🦊another Su Solo 🦊
We are down!
This song inspires Japanese old kids and it is sensitive to the name "Taro".
Because "Ultraman Taro" is an old kids hero of the 70's. This song has the vibes of the heroes' song.
Ah I see. Very cool.
P;lease stop moving the camera around is makes me feel sick. You don't have to do it just because you can.
the stage was used in BABYMETAL BaptismXX their second concert with out YUI and before the introduction of the Avengers.
Ah I see. Thanks for the insight Robert!
You guys dhould react to Devin Townsend with the song Kingdom live. It's mond blowing
I've seen that performance so many times haha. Wouldn't be much of a reaction.
Great reaction mates
Thanks so much!
