Pretty awesome video as always. SSD reviews always seemed a little tricky in my opinion but I think you did a pretty awesome job with it. Also seeing the MSI sponsor spot made me strangely happy, nice one dude.
    Anyway, hope you keeping well

Thanks man! I don't have a ton of experience working with these drives, we never even really did much with them even at UFD Tech so I'm still trying to work out how best to review them 😅
Super thankful that the channel's working with sponsors now, it's already helping out a lot (this video was filmed with a brand new mic and audio recorder that would've taken me a looooong time to save up for).

With prices dropping it's even better there were good ssd's under 200€ (the 2tb versions) now I'm waiting again for one under 200€
    a few weeks ago they sold the sn850 2tb for 180€ + heatsink + 20€ steam wallet.. I missed it ><
Now I wait for them to go on sale again.
Crucial P5 Plus, Firecuda 530, sn850 are my top choices so far, but I guess I will take any ssd that has decent speed just for future proofing.

Got the Crucial (1TB version) earlier today on discount for only £100 and it should be arriving tomorrow. I’ve heard good things and at the moment all I have is a HDD so it takes a long time to get into games such as Rust and EFT (sometimes expanding to 10 or so minutes) which can really implement as a factor to a poor experience. Hopefully it all goes well.
I will try to remember to edit this message once I find out how it is.
Edit: I don't really know what to say other than it's amazing! I'm able to load into my favorite games significantly faster and it saves so much time! Where it may usually take around 10 minutes on my old hard drive, it now takes less than 2!

I haven't tested the ASUS Phoenix 3060 yet, but cards like that with just 1 fan usually run pretty hot. It shouldn't be an issue if you have a good case with high airflow, but if you don't then you might have to just run the card at higher fan speed to keep it cool. The 3060 is a great GPU, and if this is the only version you can find in your budget then I'd go for it.

A few issues with using a P3/P3 Plus apart from it being dramless is the QLC NAND. Things like Windows updates and any software program updates will really eat into the longevity and lifespan of that SSD and QLC already has a lower endurance rating compared to TLC, MLC and all the other types of NAND chips. As a secondary drive is fine though. Throw things like your steam library on it and it will be just fine as games dont see updates as often as your OS or programs may do.

Depends what you mean by "for gaming", as in as a game storage drive, it's adequate. As a system drive for a gaming PC please don't, with QLC memory write latencies tend to be horrible and ultimate write speed is only like on the order of 100MB/s. This can make the computer effectively unusable under memory pessure, when swap occurs, assuming gaming isn't the only thing you use it for. Web browser with more than a handful tabs can fill all your RAM and then it's bye bye time while on a better drive you wouldn't notice any problem.

Nope, the label is part of the cooling solution, so the drive could actually run hotter if you take it off.

The 1TB version? If so then just an okay deal unfortunately. It's selling on Amazon for $135 right now.

@@linuss4018 Ah, then yes it's definitely a great deal. If you need more space and your motherboard supports it, definitely get another M.2.

The WD_BLACK SN770 is on sale at WD for $60 right now. That's only $5 more than the than the Crucial P5 Plus, I bought two along with two WD_BLACK SN580x drives ($92 if you buy two).

Really good deals right there. I need to expand my storage space as well - will look into the WD_Black drive pricing over here.

@@TheTechTank Yeah, it was great pricing which is why I bought so many drives. Unfortunately the "Buy 2 SSDs get up to 25% Off" sale ended on 03 Mar 23. The SN770 1TB is still $60 on WD (there was no discount for buying two on that one).
WD does still have good deals but most are exactly what you'll get on Amazon and Amazon has same/next day shipping while WD takes about four to five days.

Unfortunately even if that sale was still running it wouldn't apply to me here in SA 😭 There's like a 25-40% price increase on all PC parts here, lol, and even when parts do go on sale it's like max 10% off. Feelsbadman.
