It looks like you did not use the shims for the alternator belt. There is supposed to be 5 to 9 shims. You’re supposed to put 3 to 4 under the belt and the rest outside the cap, between the cap & the nut. The fewer used inside the tighter the belt, the more shims inside the looser the belt. DO NOT run it with no shims. I love this build, and hope I get to see the completed product. Cheers!
You may have already made up your mind, but before “sending it for paint”, consider doing a collaboration/challenge video with some detailer UA-camr like Larry at AMMONYC to color cut, buff & detail restore it, if that was the original color. Otherwise, to quote Blind Faith, “do what you like” (yes, I’m borderline boomer).
I’d love to give this thing a paint revival if it were worth someone’s effort but it’s just too far gone and there’s some areas of the car that need attention. Bubbling. Etc
@@Iansbuilds well hopefully you don’t find holes after the body work and paint are supposedly done. I found a gaping rust hole in the fender well at the junction of the door pillar, bulkhead, rocker, & heater channel, of the beetle in the avatar/profile picture. I had just finished the resto in 2021 when the fender got punched by a ladder some jack wagon didn’t tie down. When I pulled it to repair it, I found the hole. It looked like it was the size of my pinky fingernail but it turned out to be 2x4 inches. To “do it right” I’d have to do a “body off” so that’s not happening. I need a good source for aviation panel bond & seam sealer. Do you know of anyone for that?
This build is coming together so nicely!!!

Thanks for the support! We did use the shims
