Hi, it's pronounced « Mee Kola » ! The dish was created by Kola people (Dai ethnic from China who speaks a dialect of Shan), and it is : 🔸 Steamed Rice Noodles marinated in Fried Garlic Flavored Oil & Thick Black Soy Sauce (unsalted) ; 🔸 Boiled Duck or Chicken Eggs ; 🔸 Crushed Dried Shrimp ; 🔸 Cucumber marinated in a little Palm Sugar, Salt & Lime Juice ⤵️ ➡️ in the provinces of Battambang, Bantaey Meanchey, Oddar Meanchey & Siem Reap we prefer the acidity of lime/tamarind/kumquat juice than vinegar ; 🔸 Green and Orange Papaya marinated like Cucumber ; 🔸 Sweet Dried Radish ; 🔸 Fried Garlic ; 🔸 Served with Lime Juice, Light Salty Soy Sauce and Palm Sugar (same proportion as Teuk Trey Paem). The dish is called « Mee Kola » instead of « Kuyteav Kola » because : 🔸 « Mee » means rice noodles in Hakka (Han Chinese language) ; 🔸 « Kuyteav » means rice noodles in Minnan (Han Chinese language of which Teochew, Hokkien, Taiwanese & Hainanese are dialects). In Cambodia : 🔸 Kola people are from Yunnan province in China and was merchants travel in Myanmar, Thailand & Cambodia ; 🔸 Hakka speakers Han Chinese people are from Heyuan and Meizhou Cities (where 米筛目 Bee Tai Bak or Lot Chhar លតឆា was created) ; in Guangdong province of China.
Mee kola is from Myanmar and the people of Myanmar live in Pailian Cambodia 🇰🇭. My family live in Battambang Cambodia . Now I live in Philadelphia USA 🇺🇸 still make mee kola for my children over sixty years
