As far as Specifically Like Crazy the MV/Dance goes - As I stated in the intro, we can have a different interpretation of the dance and I appreciate all the theories, but just because we have different opinions we shouldn't devalue each other, I went with the theory that focused more on the movie itself (which Jimin himself mentioned) and I tried supporting my theory by pointing bits from the choreography, that's all. Twisting my comments and accusing me of things that never in a million years would cross my mind, that's a bit much. I appreciate the more popular theory among fans and I state it in the video itself, it's quite deep and deeper than my thoughts of the performance itself, kudos to you guys. At the end of the day, I'm here to celebrate Jimin and his incredible success with this album, so even if we have different theories and even if I'm completely off in every way, I LOVED this whole album and I have nothing but love for Jimin. If you want to see the full context of my thoughts and why I went with this theory, check out my original Like Crazy MV reaction :)
Hope you guys enjoy this reaction and as always, this is just my interpretation of the visuals or in this case the dance :)
Thank you all so much for all of the love on everything that relates to the 'Face' reactions, appreciate you!!

I appreciate your opinion of which I share. I think we can analyze the songs in context of what Jimin has already told us in numerous interviews what he was trying to say and show. That does not take away from what other people see in his videos and songs. But I do think it can be unfair to discuss something as personal as his sexuality when he clearly stated this was pandemic related depression (self doubt, relationships-personal/Army, haters, etc) and how he tried to numb the pain and then finely free himself of said depression. BTS has always been inclusive of the LGBTQIA’s+ community and represented that support in many of their videos. Like Crazy is portrayed in the 80’s club scene environment. Free love/sex, straight, bi and gay was very prevalent in that club era
(Think Studio 54 as an example). The photos on his pants reflected that time as well. I personally don’t equate those photos with Jimin coming out. When Jin kissed the male statute in BST, did everyone assume he was coming out? When Tae showed his clipped wings and was hugging and rubbing Jin in Boy Meets Evil, was it a coming out statement for those two? The notion and requirement of fanservice and same sex shipping is an idol industry phenomenon. The makeup and feminine look for male idols is something all of the male groups go thru. It plays into the Korean standard of beauty for them. So again, everyone is entitled to their own interpretations, but let us also listen to what the artist are telling us. Would we as individuals want people discussing our sexuality in public? For most of us no. Harry Styles is a big supporter of gay rights and showcases a lot of male and feminine characteristics, but he has not discussed his personal preferences, but does show us his dating preferences which are women. Our idols can’t do that because early on they are forbidden by their companies and then if they are found to be dating it is a scandal perpetuated by toxic fandom.

Jimin put on amazing live performance
as always, He is such Phenomal
      professional dancer, and beautiful
talented singer to, no doubt, 🕺🔥
Now far as story theories goes my
thoughts is this, Yes! I believe the Girl is
His reflection feminism of Himself being
caring, loving and nurturing to others,
wearing make Up, being sexy as His soft self basically, the guys represent his masculinity as Man, a protective, bold, fearless, aggressive, ego, bravery,
So it's like reflection of both parts of
His true self as 'Jimin, that why we see two People kissing of shadows behind Him in Like Crazy MV, because both represented who Jimin is as one Person,
So that's what, I believe what this story
theory is about, that's why I believe it's call 'FACE the reflection of yourself facing mirrors of 2 or 3 characters of yourself, the feminine, masculinity, and dark shadow in you as whole as Person,
I believe It Has nothing to do about being opposite of yourself nor having feelings for same sex or anything like that, It's about Him, His acceptance of His true
self as Jimin, like self love and it's about His freedom to enjoy life away from the
shadows like fighting His demons or dark shadow in himself or acceptance basically, sometimes you got to go insane to remain or stay sane get it, which what I believe what this whole album 'Face is really about in my opinion.

It’s a very interpretive dance and makes a story in and of itself. I doubt it’s as simplistic as his “duality.” After all, we all have dual personas-look at all the straight men who luv Jimin and all the women who want to dump their boyfriends for him.
He’s truly a fantastic interpretive dancer and from interviews and his Run BTS/SOOP, and other videos he’s been in. I see JIMIN’s personality as caring, up-front with his bro members, super-cute, with a great sense of humor, always polite w/strangers, interviewers, people he works with, and so loving towards Armys. However, he’s always been in a protective cocoon, a very different world than his artistic world view-a discipline that requires success, constant public attention-that a mundane existence just doesn’t produce. He’s meant to be a magnet for all things in our lives we experience, desire, cannot have, or cannot be. We are not Jimin, but we’d like to be him, ti be with him, and he is a part of our lives, distant yet so present, and this includes those jealous of him. My heart 💜 goes out to him.

I think the woman is a warped mirror reflection of him. He was staring in the mirror for part of the music video, so it makes sense. Also, I think it's kind of a tortured love song to the liquor he's drinking get through feeling isolated during the pandemic. I think it's written specifically to allow for multiple theories, though. BTS has said a bunch of times that they have fun reading fan theories. 💜

I love this performance. I discovered BTS in February 2022 while recovering from Covid-19. I was fascinated by all the members and their talents but Jimin stood out to me. He captivated me from the moment I saw him. It was not a sexual thing nor was it a crush. It was the talent--his singing, dancing, movements. I loved Michael Jackson too but to me Jimin's captivation goes even further than that. Jimin has an X factor about him that draws you in even his personality is different. He can be extremely child like at times to very manly to sexy alluring. Every part of his being draws you into his world. To me that has to be a gift from God. Every now and then we are blessed with someone like Jimin who brings us great joy and I appreciate this great gift God has given us to get through the hard times. I have seen where people said he gave them hope where there was no hope or just changed their lives for different reasons. Yes, I am convinced, Jimin is a gift from God to make our lives a little happier. I also wanted to tell you, I have recently discovered your channel. I love how you explain what these videos mean in your opinion. Thank you for sharing with us.😊

As a 53yo woman who discovered BTS in 2017 (through my daughter) and really got into them with the Tear comeback, I was immediately drawn to Jimin for the same reasons. His personality, sincerity, passion, talent, work ethic, warmness, etc. was an immediate attraction to me. I was going through a divorce after 20 years of marriage and that album was healing for me, but Serendipity specifically was just...just. The way these 7 incredible young men have impacted my life really caught me off guard. At first I was kind of embarrassed about it but now after almost 6 years, I'm beyond proud to call myself a fan. Jimin is absolutely my bias, but they all have inspired me. I'm dreading the enlistments but loving their solo work and Jimin has especially given me everything and so much more than I could have wanted or imagined with his. All of them have been incredible. I just hope time flies and we see them back together in the blink of an eye.

I agree with the movie theory. It could also be his separation from Army or the group activities during the 2yrs of the pandemic. It seems he was drinking pretty heavily to try to drown out all of the uncertainty and fear of his future.
He said this album is about how he was feeling during that time. Because one of the lines in the song is " I'd rather be lost in the lights"
The interpretation of these songs from the album should ALWAYS go back to what Jimin himself said he wanted the listeners to get from the album.

*I think it was Namjoon who said that their music can have multiple meanings and that he wanted Armys to use him, use BTS, to love themselves. I think interpreting choreo, lyrics & MVs in a way that makes you feel seen, feel represented, is an important step toward loving yourself. The thing with music is that a song can be interpreted in different ways, according to the life experiences of each person, in my opinion, different interpretations enrich the song. like crazy can be seen in different ways and your interpretation is interesting.
The only thing I would like to add is that Jimin didn't start the song thinking about the movie, he already had a concept and, when he saw the movie, he thought that it talked about things similar to what he wanted to express, that's why he later connect the song to the movie.
It's okay if you don't consider that the dancer is Jimin's female counterpart, but, it is worth clarifying, that this theory comes from the complete analysis of the album, not only from the song, and it is also related to other past songs of Jimin and conflicts that he has also expressed.
PERSONALLY, I don't like to analyze the song and the album from the perspective of a breakup or a relationship, it's a bit simplistic for me, I prefer to see it as Jimin's internal conflicts and demons, and how he progressively detached himself from them, until he became in the best version of himself today.
Jimin also talked about how the album came out of all his negative feelings during the pandemic and how he doesn't feel that way anymore nowadays.
Anyway, I really enjoy seeing the different interpretations of the song and the album, Jimin is my bias and I'm so happy for him right now, I'm so glad that people are appreciating him so much. I really liked the reactions you did to him, it's refreshing to see how you genuinely enjoy his music and it affects you hehe my favorite reaction of yours to jimin is from the set me free pt2 video

Really well said. I think the only thing I really differ in opinion with you on is that the song/album isn't about a breakup or relationship. I think it partly is, but that's not all it's about, and I don't think it's necessarily about a romantic relationship. Considering this album was about his feelings during the pandemic (a forced separation), which also affected their plans before military enlistment (a second forced separation), I'm sure there was a lot of strain on his relationships and he was worried about the survival of those relationships (with the fans, with other people in his life).
On Lee Mujin Service I think he also said something about relationships being hard, which is another reason why I think it's partly about relationships. But having watched Jimin over the years and listened to the things he's said about himself and his struggles with his own identity, I totally agree with you on all the rest.

I personally like it, I liked that he talked about his pain and loneliness, we can all feel that way, but also that he used a movie to speak on relationships and further state the pain that could result from it.
I think it's okay for people to have fun creating theories, but let's not forget that they are just theories, and that Jimin ALREADY explained the meaning, which is simple and isn't about his "feminine side" (which btw he never had a problem to acknowledge).
His album isn't a search for identity, it's expressing pain, something even in relationship.
Your interpration of the dance makes more sense as it is based on Jimin's own words.
Nice reaction as always, I really love this dance, it's refreshing to have something as simple as a relationship song. :)

Respectfully, I think you should listen to all of Jimin's words before dismissing other people out of hand.
The first thing we knew about this album was that the concept was not only about his "face" but also facing himself. The Weverse announcement states, "“FACE” is all about Jimin facing himself head-on as he gets ready for his next step as a solo artist."
From the album itself, there is another quote that reads, "Waves originated from the deepest invisible world, pass through the face on the surface and reach others to resonate while transmitting the inner voice," which seems to have something to do with identity if you ask me.
Rather than try to simplify his song and album to one meaning, I think it's better to embrace the complexity of this multi-faceted gift he's given us.

    • @anaisc8733
      @anaisc8733 Рік тому

@@kristannewell3455 Yes, it was about facing himself, he even dive deeper into explaining that in his interviews or even his Suchwita episode. But facing himself during the pandemic =/= his search for his "feminine side" or "gender identity" - which is what some people are implying.
I also think simplicity can be complex and intriguing as much, it's okay if his song Like Crazy showcase himself in a dream that he doesn't want to wake up from, drawing parallels from the movie he talked about. It doesn't need to have a complicated meaning, he said it himself that it was rather simple and straightforward. That doesn't make him less if an artist.

    • @kristannewell3455
      @kristannewell3455 Рік тому

@@anaisc8733 Considering "face, the reflection of myself in an unfamiliar appearance" is also a quote from the album concept, and that Jimin told us himself that mirrors were going to be important for this album, further emphasizing that with his last Jimin dance time where he did the mirror choreography from Fake Love and Butter, I'd say mirrors and reflections are a big, important theme he wanted to draw attention to.
Now, if you look at the fact that the woman was clearly mirroring him in both the MV and choreo right around the time he talks about "all my reflections I can't even recognize" in the English version and "my reflection in the mirror, I'm going endlessly crazy" in the Korean version, that seems relevant and worth exploring. If we're going to talk about simplicity, the simple act of having a woman as his reflection is a powerful and provocative image (which is obvious even in the way people are responding to it), and it evokes questions about what it means of how he sees himself (even more relevant because this isn't the first time Jimin has talked about his masculinity and his struggles in accepting himself).
People are asking those questions and you're trying to shut them down. If you ask me, taking the woman being his reflection to mean he's playing two parts in a movie he only said he "took points of inspiration from" and not recreated, is overcomplicated. There are far simpler ways to look at that symbolism if you take it at face value. Looking at her as his anima is a fairly obvious one considering Jung's concepts are ones BTS have often used in the past, though what exactly that means to Jimin is still up for interpretation. Exploring all those different interpretations is what makes this album and song such a rich experience.
It's not like I don't think he's also drawing on themes from the movie. It's fairly obvious to me he's doing both. I could write you another essay on how I think the movie influenced the song, but I think you should reflect on why you're so dismissive of this particular interpretation (and any attempts to point out all the queer-coded aspects of this project) and feel the need to insist that it's "something as simple as a relationship song" when that is just your assumption.

    • @anaisc8733
      @anaisc8733 Рік тому

@@kristannewell3455 There is clearly a line that you are crossing. It's one thing to have interpretations, Jimin is okay with it, but it's another to create narratives and assumptions about him and how he sees himself.
What makes you think that in 2023 he is struggling with his feminine side ? Because he choose a woman to dance in his choreography. How about all the times across the years where he shared how much confident he is about himself.
There is absolutely a problem right now in the fandom who is perceiving him as this man endlessly struggling with himself, instead of listening to what he did told us and still does in his work. Just because BTS as a whole did an album series on Carl Jung, mainly because of the rapline (specially RM), doesn't mean their work in the future and the solo will too, because at this point y'all being very selective into what fits your narrative when Jimin never said so.
So no, at this point you can argue yourself with him, because he said it himself, the agency said so too, it's about his difficult time during the pandemic. I don't think that's fair to scrap the whole meaning of the album into a struggle for his gender identity or his feminine side. That's really going too far. It just tells me that a lot of you didn't actually read the lyrics he spend time working on and rather went into "deep" analysis of his choreography.
Y'all have to explain to me one day why is it a problem when Jimin is singing about simple things, such as painful relationships and you all refusing to even acknowledge it. That's really not fair for him. Also, he is being pushed to be the representation he never asked for, just because his beauty his androgynous and contrary to what you think, he doesn't struggle to show his feminine side for years now. Maybe y'all should too accept what he's been sharing with us in it's simplest form.
So yeah, art can be interpreted in a fun way for the fan, but it stays that way - an interpretation, because we already have the facts and meanings layed out by Jimin himself. 🤷‍♀️

    • @kristannewell3455
      @kristannewell3455 Рік тому

@@anaisc8733 You're putting words in my mouth. I never once said the whole album is about a struggle for his gender identity or feminine side. I specifically said I see a lot of other meaning in the album. I never made any assumptions about his gender identity. All I did was point to different points of interest in his performances and promotions of Like Crazy, directly quoting from the project, and allowing for different possibilities and interpretations to exist, but the way you're reacting to that is telling.
If we're going to talk about crossing lines and making narratives and assumptions, how is that worse than what you're doing? You've been loudly stating that the only correct interpretation is that Like Crazy is about a romantic relationship and breakup like in the movie, and that IS an assumption. How do you know it's about a romantic relationship? He never explicitly said that. He said the movie is about a realistic breakup and the song took points of inspiration from the movie, which is not the same thing. There are all kinds of different relationships, and he could be referring to any number of things.
Are you not then crossing a line as a fan by your own standards? Making assumptions about his romantic life?
And I did read the lyrics. I've been talking about more than just his choreography (though I don't know why you'd want to dismiss that when Jimin is a dancer who tells stories with his body). But here are some lyrics for you (in addition to the ones I've already quoted about his reflection): "Did I come too far to find the me you used to know?"
Can you see how these lines are a reference to his identity? About a worry that the "you" he's addressing might not recognize him if he changes too much. It doesn't mean Jimin isn't confident, but this album is about a time when he was struggling during the pandemic and doing a lot of introspection.
And here are some more lyrics for you from Set Me Free pt.2 after he's done his introspection and come out the other side stronger and more resolved: "I won't hide anymore even if it hurts" and "look at me now, I won't stop even if they mock me." It's a declaration to be himself unapologetically, referencing a prior struggle with an identity that doesn't seem to be accepted by others.
There are of course different ways to interpret this; a queer reading is not the only one that is valid here, but it is valid. The reactor even respectfully acknowledged this, but you don't appear able to.

BTS was good with presenting videos that have more than one theory. But in this case Jimin has told us what he was trying to say.
Jimin stated: I thought (the movie) would be romantic n sweet but it's a very realistic description of a breakup. when working on main track, this movie suddenly came to mind. there are interesting excerpts of dialogue (in the track) that express exactly what i wanted to say.
If you think about the five stages of grief, the first track, “Face Off” talks about ANGER, hurt and betrayal, “Dive” about DENIAL, “Like Crazy” about BARGAINING “Alone” about DEPRESSION and “Set Me Free” about ACCEPTANCE.
Jimin said he experienced the feeling of being lost and depressed during the pandemic. The movie relates to the stages of grief in a relationship that could not be sustained due to distance. Jimin manifested his feelings of depression in the use of alcohol to numb the pain he was feeling. I think the mirroring dance in the performance was also showcasing her pain thus the reflection aspect. With Jimin being a worldwide artist, the girl he was in a relationship with could have been anywhere in the world. Jimin had/has the means to travel to meet her or he bring her to him. Pandemic stopped all travel, thus their separation. The club dancing was a dream he did not want to be saved from. Mud in literature has multiple connotations as it relates to dreams. One meaning represents the chaos and confusion of the world, as well as the sorrow and pain that come with being human. This ties into what Jimin is experiencing during the pandemic.
“Dive” also brought into play him dealing with his level of fame and his need to connect with Army through performance. He was unable to do so, again due to the pandemic. So he also drinks due to that loss of connection and being alone.
“Alone” completely deals with him being alone, lost, sad and depressed. Again trying to numb the pain through alcohol.
“Set Me Free” is his way of finally accepting his feelings and realizing only he alone can set himself free from the pain of the pandemic, his failed relationship, his own doubts and insecurities and the hate of those who oppose or hate him simply for just doing so. I think also from the confines of his group activities at the expense of his true self and from the persona he was forced by “Big Hit” to portray (first hyper masculinity during the early years then the androgynous to feminine aspects in later years with the Sesame Street antics and shipping with his members). I don’t think Jimin is gay, but he and the group clearly support the lgbtq community. Its symbolism has been represented in one form or another though most of their videos and pleas for acceptance of everyone. I think it is the same in the “Like Crazy” video. I don’t think it is his coming out video, but I can see how those who want Jimin to be gay can see that message in his video. Also, look at how he is presenting his physical self compared to BTS, a harder masculine look vs the glamorous pretty Jimin of BTS. Jimin even said he is intentionally showing this other side. He is no longer a teenager, but a grown man.
We have to remember that Korea has a huge culture of drinking and the idol industry has this enormous culture of shipping their artist, preventing dating and creating this ridiculous mindset that idols don’t date because they are the boyfriend/girlfriend of their fans. If they are caught dating it creates a huge scandal and depending on the stage of their career it can cost them their career. All people to include idols need real relationships in their life, just like us fans. Not these parasocial relationships that are created for the fandom. Bottom line art is meant to be interpreted and what Jimin has presented is art through lyrics and dance. We are all free to interpret as we see fit, but let’s also keep in mind what he has told us in various written and recorded interviews about the meaning of this album.

Jimin clearly mentions that Like Crazy is inspired by the movie but also that all the songs on Face come from a raw part of himself and about the chronological order of the songs and its relation to his feelings during the pandemic. Since I personally don't think Face is a breakup album, I find the reflection theory more interesting.
I also think that while the girl may be a reflection of Jimin, some people may be taking that too literally. I saw a theory she represents the Yin energy and the struggle for him to get a balance within himself.

I think it both. It can represent the relationship between male and female like a man and a woman, or like a masculine and feminine side of a one person. Just like in Jungian psychology (remember MOTS) there's anima and animus, everyone has both sides.

People can have fun with theories, ARMYs always did, but going as far as stating them as legitimate truth when Jimin already spoke about it, it feels disrespectful to the work and message he is trying to get across.

There are 3 versions that came out previously on streaming platforms and iTunes, Like Crazy Deep House version, Like Crazy UK Garage version, and Like Crazy Instrumental version. I hope they will release the Jazz version on streaming platforms and iTunes too. But please give it a listen. Thank you.

Leemujin Service Ep56 April Fool's Day Special with BTS Jimin on the KBS Kpop channel. It has English subs since it's an interview + performance. The Like Crazy Jazz version is in English too. :)

This goes back to my thoughts about "lost in the lights" referencing being lost in ARMY bombs at concerts. I think the "female" in the relationship, linking to your theory, would be ARMY.

It seems that with the American dancens there wasn't the same tune... the dance practice, to me, is even better!! and the mirroring was just this, a mirroring. The American dancers gave the movements more sex appeal than the Korean ones.
According to Jung, all of us have both sides, femenine (anima) and masculine (animus). We have to cope with our "other side" to live well.

The Dynamic in the Mirroring duet was much, much better in the Practice ❤️‍🔥

really love your theory. i thought it ment Jimin was bisexual. because even his clothes in the MV from the bathroom is unisex items i found it online. and the portfolio when he has colorful items on he has a tattoo on his wrist saying FREE. and his t-shirts was a LTBQ+ t-shirt people was talking about him being bisexual already then, and now this. it´s further proofing my theory but. he could also just mean being apart of army but idk. and it´s not only that mv, in set me free pt 2 it´s also both males and females. BTS rarely use both genders only for ON but it was un personalized. and the way all the dancers hugged him lige merging to become one was really showing.
but it could also mean both jimin could use the movie as a reference but he could mean something else for himself. it´s not easy to be different in kpop community so i understand the ned to hide it and it´s awful. i wish he could be himself without loosing what he loves (his passion). this album to me is very deep.
for RM´s album he is always way more honest and don´t hide behind meanings but i feel Jimin does. he is also very secretive in real life we know the least about him. so it´s like reading his diary without understanding everything

I'm puzzled why you all want to establish his sexuality based on his clothes and his music when it's not your place to do so.
RM didn't got these theories and speculation about his sexual orientation or even gender identity while his album was released, neither for J-Hope.
You said RM was more straight forward while Jimin was as well, it's an album filled with the pain and loneliness of the pandemic, not a search for identity or him stating his sexuality.
So, can we please have so limits here.

@@anaisc8733 no, people can find comfort and interpret things how they want. It isn’t hurting anybody. They didn’t pull this theory out of nowhere. Jimin has been indirectly open about his expression, there are just some (like you) who choose to ignore it. Which, fine. But don’t beat others down for finding comfort and seeing themselves in Jimins music.

@@tyunsboba Do you know what interpretation means ? You interpret something, that doesn't make it true.
It's fine if some people want theories, it's always fun to do so and ARMYs always liked it, but there is a limit to what fans are doing for the sake of seeing the representation they've wish for.
Jimin has been pretty open and clear about the meaning of this album and song in his interviews and even when he briefly talked to ARMY. I don't like that you want to strip from him what he tried to express through it. It's not fair for him.
So have some respect for his work and feelings, theories are THEORIES, and then there is the actual informations and meanings he shared with us, that shouldn't be ignored in favor of YOUR interpretation. Specially speculating about someone sexuality - it's really out of line.

@@anaisc8733 exactly even the meaning of the lyrics are clearly like a break up song or a long distance relationship idk why pple don’t understand the song instead they talk something even identity like litterly if they watch run bts it’s clearly shows tht he is a man n little prince instead of watching these videos tht r being made by some fan who wants him to be how they want
And here is litterly a work and he is an artist he can try whatever he wants I don’t understand how pple think 🧐
