A wet weather battle between Dick Johnson Falcon & Jim Richards in the JPS 635 BMW is a must watch with a surprise result en.wikipedia.o... All Credit ABC Sport
I spoke to Gentleman Jim Richards recently and mentioned you guys and he was very appreciative of your work in preserving and sharing this wonderful content
Thanks Kenny, we are humbled.. Jim is one of the major reasons why we do this, he's not called "Gentleman Jim" for nothing.. a great man who always had the time for minions like me, as most of them did from that era.. again thanks for your comment Tim
When you see photo's of the cars in books or on the internet, the Bluebird looks like a bigger car than it really is. But when you see it next to Dick's XE Falcon you can really see the size difference between the two cars. The Nissan and Mazda's really were the lightweights of the Group C's last main contenders.
I think the current commentary team can learn something from this telecast, ie, you really don't have to talk continuously, its ok to take a break and not say anything at all.
You're dead right Darryl. My local F1 telecast, not in Oz, added a female to the 2 guys and she won't shut the fuck up, even when the drivers are talking over the radio to the engineers, which I think is a sin for a commentator, and now the 2 guys who weren't too bad before, feel they need to keep up with her.
Richards is blocking that's why fury got so far away soon as Johnson passed Richards and opened up a big gap strait away Wich says the falcon is the fastest and best car driver combination hence why Johnson won the chamionship
These were the best days, no b/s excessive parity. 4 extremely different cars and all very competitive.
Dick Johnson was a fantastic driver.
Gotta love George Shepherd standing on the grid having a smoke
bloody legend

Racing sure isnt as good as this anymore! Keep these videos coming!
I can't imagine what it would have been like trying to get that Falcon around a track in those conditions.
Good old lakeside
Amazing there is an Escort in the field!
Thanks for posting this race and all the other videos.

Neil Crompton was commentating back then, too.

Proper motor racing , modern cars are boring compared to these old Falcons and Skyline GTRs

Why wasn’t Brocky in the 05?
As heard in the commentary Brock was in France contesting Le Mans
