Very fun first run of Monster Train!! I think you're very right that first run wins are quite hard, even with knowledge like you had!!

Love your stuff! The broken builds you make in your games, and the whole vibe you have is just so funa and comforting respectively

I bought Monster Train and Slay the Spire around the same time, I have about 20 hours on Monster Train but 450 hours on StS. I usually find when I'm on Monster Train, I'm usually just picking up what seems cool and there's less synergy going on, I just end up beating it with some monstrous units or by Big Number -> Add Multi Attack or Good Unit -> Buff A Lot, unlike StS where I feel like I'm building a strategy (and if I just pick up the good cards, I'm unlikely to win as they're far more contextual). But I'd never thought about using Endless on a Summon monster, even though that's clearly very strong!

10:55 You literally cannot improve your outcome. Killing the boss on the current turn is the best you can ever do, and trying to run up the numbers just risks accidentally messing something up and losing. When you see the red X on the boss, _stop playing cards_ and end turn. This is an important lesson that I'm sure Baalor knows and I'm surprised he didn't communicate.

While it is decent general advice to not dick around when a fight is won, it isn't true that ending a fight is the best you can ever do. There are plenty of things you can do that persist after the fight, such as Spike cards from Heph, or monsters like Overgorger.
If you have an Overgorger and you see the boss is going to die, you can potentially do something like heal the boss or kill your weakest monster so that it barely survives so you can take more turns and get more permanent attack on it or the monster it is fused with. Just ending your turn when you see "X" to end the fight leaves a lot of power on the table.
There plenty things like this such as Bone Dog's Favor which could get you 5 more Pyre health if you manage to stall additional turns, a card you put Purge on for the purpose of removing it from your deck that you haven't played yet, preventing a monster getting purged by the Broken Wheel, and probably more things.
Basically, you should always assess the situation when a fight is won to see how you can milk more from it, like Baalor said. Most of the time there won't be anything, and in those cases you should just end the fight immediately.
