All USB charging are DC current unless the DC current is converted back to AC in the device. I've diassembled the device, it has a board to charge the battery and to run the air pump components. The air pump components are exactly the same as those AC air pump EXCEPT they are much smaller than the AC air pump. It is actually the equivalent of 2 small AC air pumps but since the components like the magnet, diaphrag etc are much smaller than the usual AC air pump, it's air power definitely will be much lesser than the usual AC air pump. Don't be surprised if you find the air coming out is weak bcoz it's internal components are much smaller. I do not recommend this, weak air pump
