@@Bigpopp1 nope don’t wear anything in open boats as the idea is to be thrown clear. They wear a parachute to slow them down quickly. Top fuel boats have survival capsules that they are strapped into. They wear a fresh air mask and there is a bottle in canopy. The capsule breaks free from the boat and floats.
Not having any proper restraints on. When the parachute opened it created drag decreasing the speed of the boat rapidly. He didn’t slow down at the same rate but he wasn’t attached to the boat properly.
You would rather be stuck in an open cockpit boat if it flipped over and came down on top of you? You must have a death wish. It’s better to get away from the boat than stay in it. The only boats with seatbelts also have roll cages and they go a lot faster than this boat does and you’re still likely to get extremely hurt when the capsule goes skipping across the water at well over 270mph. Just look at Scott Lumbert.
Most of those guys bust their ass 9-5 M-F so they can go racing on the weekend and more than a few are lucky enough to have enough friends willing to put the time in to see their friend get on the water and race.
Just because it's a bad idea doesn't mean it won't be a good time
@@marvelousministry9434 Lighten up. I'd say it was a bad idea this time wouldn't you? 🤣
Separated Pubic Bones ? That is the first time I have heard of that. Ouch that has got to hurt.
I was wondering if that's what I heard... I've had to listen to it 3 times.... it makes my hernia hurt hearing that😢
Love the hat, "Go Fast, Don't Die"!!
Dang, Lucky Larry!!! hitting the water at 100 mph and not skipping blows my mind he survived. Gotta say this sport is wild!
Her name is Hannah Hoover. Perfect.
Hope you get better soon enjoy watching the drag boats
Separation of pubic bones!!!! 1st time in my life I've ever heard that and can't imagine.
one of the most painful things that can happen to you and not be life threatening
Fun fact we actually we're Kevlar pants to keep their testicles from being I ripped off their body when hit the water
With any kind of racing, there are risks. 😮
Old Larry probably got a free enema when he hit the water too.
Probably hard to get water in there while sh!tting yourself
They wear ballistic underwear to make sure that that doesn't happen

I assume he will rethink his restraint setup so that this won’t happen again.
Restraint setup? These guys don't wear seatbelts in open boats....or are you talking about the 'chute harness?

Separation of pubic bones? Dang
I wasn't sure if I heard that right. Dang, I hope my pubic bone stays with me to the end!
Love the fact this hottie newscaster’s last name is Hoover…
😄
"separation of pubic bones"??? What did she say at the end? 1:25
That's a nice way of saying he's now a woman.
Yeah, lets all have a moment of silence for him. He probably wasn't able to breath for a good long time after that I would imagine.

The bow of the boat lifted out of the water and as it came down and touched the water it lost speed due to friction and he was thrown forward?
Physics sir, physics.
OMG, who is this Reporter !!!! ?😊
The photo on the screen is way to high off the water, the sponsons are way to wet...
that happened to my Buddy it messed him up pretty bad.
I think I would take a seatbelt quick release over a parachute any day

Do they not have safety regulations when racing a boat that goes that fast? As in may be seatbelts? 😂🤣😂

cant wear seatbelts in an open boat, when they flip you need to get separated from the boat to have any chance of surviving
separation of pubic bones? what even is that? sounds painful
Looks to me like Larry jumped out.. Don't they have belts..?.?
No they don’t wear belts in the open boats. The closed capsule boats the driver are strapped in as the capsule breaks loose from the boat.
that parachute did f all
Pubic bones? Does she mean pelvis bones?
He had separation of his pubic bone , don’t tell his wife
Shape a boat like an airplane and it will act like an airplane.
Hillbillies being pitched out of boats........
But as usual, he was "doing what he loved".

People going up over the dash in drag boats used to happen a lot more often. Those v drive flats can take you for a ride pretty fast.
Nobody got it on camera?
Did you not watch the video?
separation of pubic bones? is that really what she said???

Hahahahaha
Time for Government intervention!!!!!
Get back in your bubble
If you cannot accept the risk, stay on the shore.
seat belt might help keep him in the boat just saying
