Ok you clearly don’t know anything about Lebanon. Hezoballah has nothing to do with Lebanon current state. In fact, it’s done more for Lebanon than the actual military, even then their main objective holds nothing to the economy crisis that the other political parties are responsible for. Lebanons issue is the same as other countries. Corruption. Only on a much broader scale, the politicans are only interested in filling their pockets using their current position to smooth it along more so than helping the people hence the decades of neglect. Let’s not forget the system they set in place after the civil was was only intended to be there temporarily before they find a better one but never did but of course you wanna blame hezoballah cuz ur peanut size brain can’t think.

Do you remember the port with a mountain of ammonia stored for years under neglect in the middle of huge city?
The port that got blasted and killed hundreds and caused damages in the billions and the hundreds of thousands of people that worked or generated money materials food oil and livelihood to their families out of it?
Under whose authority it was forsed to stay in the port for years?
Do you remember the port that now you need to convince foreign investors to thrust the corrupt leaders and the broken rule of law in Lebanon when you have a "party" with a "privet military" financed by drugs and controled by foreign country that send Lebanon to war when ever it feels like it?
This was the last major part that pushed Lebanon over the cliff.

Thank you for covering this, I had to make the tough decision to leave Lebanon 3 years ago and seeing this kills me everyday. I hope this situation ends one day so that Lebanon can thrive again and I can return…
It was so weird to get used to constant hot water or 24/7 electricity once I moved to the UK. Cheap food and good Salaries. I returned to Lebanon to attend a wedding a few months ago and the situation was truly deplorable. I feel so sad for my friends and family who are still living there in squalor.

I am Romanian and I went to Lebanon 20 years ago to build a concrete station. I was very impressed by the kindness and way of life in Lebanon. I had the opportunity from the beneficiary to stay forever in Beirut in excellent conditions. I regretted it for a few years, but what is happening there now is beyond my understanding. Such a beautiful country in chaos!!!!!!!!!!!!!

G’day from a Lebanese born Australian who left as a baby in 1966. Even then Lebanon was corrupt and ruled by the Zooama. Lebanon is the biggest exporter of its citizens in the world because the people have stuck with their tribe and tribal leader who have devoured their future.
The results of the last election showed how hopeless the Lebanese are. They only managed to elect 13 alternate candidates and kept 115 of the old guard in their seats. The mentality seems to be "my guy is ok but the others are the problem".

I try to explain to them that the leaders all get along whilst robbing you, they never ever expose each other as thieves because they’re all thieves.

The Zaeem then "generously" uses 10% of the stolen resources to provide some of those services to his region "out of his own pocket". While 90% is kept for himself and his inner circle.
Regardless, the people of his area thank the Zaeem for his benevolence and courage as a fearless defender of their sect.

When I explain to people in Lebanon that here in Australia you simply go to a Hospital in an emergency and you’re allowed in instantly and it’s free they don’t believe it.

If not, he simply wants to have children cause the situation wasn't this bad in the past so it was doable to take care of all of them. I think it is also said that "Allah will provide" but he forgets this bit... yes.. the reason why you are facing the same "hell" is those less responsible than your parents had a lot of children.... it is even worse in Africa - for Africa there in no hope... African demographics are like Lebanon's was in the 1960's all young.. so yes, Lebanon's population is not increasing as fast at it was, but the damage has been done.. far far far worse is coming to Africa even though there is no lack of space or resources... I am always disappointed with these documentaries as no one say at the end, come up with some hard and fast solutions. My second home is in Cambodia, the poorest and most corrupt country in SE Asia.. we are in the poorest region with a small farm - I have been trying for the last 6 years to prepare for what is happening now.. if I could see it, why could not other people ? If I had been in Lebanon in the good times, I would have had solar power on the roof and been 100% self-sufficient in power. I would not be running around in big cars. In Cambodia we have small motorcycles and a 800cc car, and a 800cc van... we are self-sufficient in food... so if we can do it, what was stopping people in Lebanon ?
Lebanon's successful neighbor Israel can help the Lebanese out of this crappy situation that Iran and it's proxies have created.

Unfortunately this short video covers almost the daily situation of the Lebanese people, however some photos or shots does not reflect the real Lebanese citizens( especially in the beginning of the video).
To cut the story short and to get out of this hectic situation there is only one SOLUTION which get us in the first place to this messed up situation - REMOVE HIZBULLAH from the system.
How much power does hezbollah actually have? Their role in the government is so confusing I've asked multiple people about this and no one can give me a clear answer

Current Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah has described Hezbollah's ideology as having "two main axis: firstly, a belief in the rule by the just Shi'ite law and adherence to Khomeini's (Iran)leadership; and secondly, the continued need to struggle against the "Israeli enemy".

Hezbollah has the armed strength of a medium-sized army and is generally considered to be stronger than the Lebanese Army. So Hezbollah runs the government and military.

What a mess. I went to Lebanon on business a couple of times in 2013 and 2014, and found it to be the most delightful country, with such friendly people and one of the most beautiful cuisines in the world. I fell in love with the place, and it's such a pity to see it in this mess.

The 1st one they interviewed was part of a "militia group", this militia group still exists today and in authority and is responsible (with man other militias) for the current state of Lebanon.
That "militia" hasn't been armed since 1990 and that now party has nothing to do with the corruption today

Most people are still stuck in the same old political and religious bubble, but at the same time, there is an-ever growing loud minority of independents that secured 14 of 128 parliamentary seats last May, it is a small number but a big step and somewhat of an accomplishment. We have had a massive explosion and the third-worst economic crisis in recent history, but unlike what is displayed by the media, including this video, they focus on some parts and promote them to make a big deal out of it. The people, the country, and its busy streets are still full of life despite the chronic sadness and worry inside each and every one of us. I and many others refuse to give up and we shall keep doing everything possible to build the civil and decent country we have been dreaming of for so long.

It’s the weaponised Militias across religious borders that will always stop this country and keep it stuck. You have 3 armies in one country . How can prosperity ever enthuse. It’s like a jail. You have to align your self with one group to survive.
This is a major lesson for countries that missmanagement can send your country into the abyss of poverty. Lebanon, Venezuela, Libya, Nauru, all used to be resource rich countries and were wealthy...but now its a thing of the past

As messy as Lebanon is, it was the best 5 years of my adult life. The warmest, funniest, most hospitable people on earth. I miss it. We moved back to thr States in 2019.

@@Alex-pw9st Not really we have 99% access to electricity and water all day long. Nearly 99% literacy rate for people born few years after Independence and we don't have religious militias with guns. May our military and first president be blessed for that. Even religious political parties are becoming less mainstream with the president talking about secularism. Tunisia is actually pretty neat place. Some things are tuff in Tunisia but we are trying to do our best not to let some religious fundamentalist speech divide the country into believers and non believers because all Tunisians are Tunisians and we are trying our best to stop politicians from stealing and considering what our president is doing we seem to be on the right track. You should truly visit or read about the place it is really neat. I wish you well anyways. And like our anthem says here there is peace to peaceful people.

I can’t believe what happened to Lebanon wow 😢. When I lived there growing up in the 60’s and 70’s, before the war and even during the war in the beginning I was there, life was different, so nice and so safe, Lebanon was good, we never were scared of anything or anybody, it’s sad for me to see what happened to it now.

As someone of Lebanese origins and who has family living in this beautiful country this cuts deep into my heart. The spokesperson for the security forces, colonel Joseph Mousallem (6’08”) is even a relative of mine. This is all so very sad.
I see this documentary and I am speechless. My first reaction is to acknowledge how fortunate and priviliged we are in Europe.

Religion is the main cause why Lebanon in the situation it is today. Religious sectarianism first caused civil wars and then sectarian system of government was established to appease various religions which led to mafia like structure of Lebanese government where each religion carved out piece of the state for their own enrichment.

As outside contractor working on bid contract to repair bridges I can say the infrastructure is so bad that the bridges should be close down due to unsafe. The cement has fallen off exposing the metal girders and they are rusting away. The environment is no help. The salt corrosion especially in winter freezes/unfreezes the steel get wet, expands, and causes the cement to pop off. The roads are bad because of cheating on thickness of base cement under-course. I seen cement under course only 1" thick where it supposed to be 4" thick. That's why the roads crack and the edges are brittle where a shoulder is supposed to be. It's a nightmare. Don't get me started on the hack electric wires everywhere.

The problem with Lebanon is not corruption or bad government. It is that Lebanon is country of various ethnicities of various identities and ideologies that cannot mesh and cannot find a common destiny. I have lived in Lebanon in the 1990's. I worked in construction and made a substantial amount of money and left. Lebanon is the most beautiful country in the Middle East, in my estimation. Lebanese people are very generous, fashionable and westernized. By the way, I'm from Africa. It breaks my heart to see this couple have to take all 5 of their children out of school to work in order to survive. Lebanon with all due respect, is a waste of opportunity thus far. This is because Lebanon is never a poor country. You have to be in Lebanon to see it for yourself.

Where's the solidarity from rich Arab nations? When Greece's economy was in crisis the EU stepped up and provided hundreds of billions of euros. Granted, it was a protracted process and much pain was suffered by Greek people, but there was a clear path to recovery. Why has Lebanon been left to rot?

The crisis isn't old. The situation wasn't great 4 years ago... but it wasn't devastated. Wasn't impossible to raise a family. People had jobs, a healthy diet, a sound banking sector, and acceptable security. Existing families are at the receiving end. Middle classes disappeared and the lower class is now in a hopeless state. People are no longer getting large families...
They weren't (as) poor when they had them. The first guy's youngest daughter is 18 years old. 18 years ago the lebanese pound was worth much more so their salaries were 10x as high as they are today.
Just watched a news clip about Afghanistan. Taxi driver struggling to feed his wife and SEVEN kids. Governments should have come together 50 years ago to do someThing. Now we have billions too many on the planet which has caused climate change which will soon wipe out a lot of us. Very sad.

Each position in the government has to go to someone of a specific religion, thus, our corrupt political leaders will make decisions according to, either their community's needs while disregarding those of the others, or according to his personal benefits.
