Contrary to how it looks in the video, Ryan and I did actually talk to each other during this hike haha. Check out his video about the hike - ua-cam.com/video/U5ZRkMR7ucQ/v-deo.html
You shoukd take a trekking trail at Tiger Leaping Gorge Trail in Yunnan, China and another one is trekking to Yubeng Village at Meili Snow Moutain in Shangrila
If you got a chance, Taiwan is a place good for hiking too! :))
Welcome to Mount Emei, China
pan pan how long is it ?
Haha..i felt its awkward when you dont talk
All I imagined about HK was skyscrapers and bustling streets, never thought I would know this side of HK. Thanks for sharing!
Once in certain parts of the trail it’s just like anywhere else in the world on a trail. Great hills trees and trails. Didn’t have the shops and toilets when I lived there though. Glad it’s still well used. This is on what’s called The New Territories side. Even on Hong Kong Island there are beaches.
@@clovermark39 especially when he filmed the beach, I guess no one would've thought of HK at all
75% of hk is actually mountains!
Yes, Hong Kong isn't only the skyscape. Her trails and wide is amazing in a city, like California
@@haroldlauhoyanguess one of the calculations said 80% n what should stuned the world more is most of these rippling areas were banned by law for property development
never think of my hometown can be this attractive
I'm from New York and just want to say Hong Kong is one of my favorite cities in the world
Hong Konger too. When I first heard Kraig was going to do a hike in HK, I was so excited, haha.
u r welcome to join the massive community of local hikers
How can you not notice the countryside? Most of HKers just live next to a mountain
Yes, I only thought of tear gas and police
Fun fact: this year is the 40th anniversary of the MacLehose trails, named after the governor, Murray MacLehose. It is a 100 kilometer-long country park hiking trail, divided into 10 sections.
If you're still around. I recommend the Lantau coastal trail
@K C Wong Hong Kong would be the best place to live if the Chinese Communist leave us alone.
@@li_tsz_fung Agreed completely.
@@jackckleung 唯一出路
@@li_tsz_fung You are time trapped. The main land is better management than many western countries. Without the support of China, HK has no economy.
Like if you think he should make a video just of all the times he’s gone back to pick up the camera
He has already :) instagram.com/p/B0TidC4nTsu
That would be hilarious
My thoughts exactly

That shot at the 2 minute mark where the city is slowly revealed across the horizon from the trees is just epic! Pure class.
Drone always makes everything becoming interesting.
MacLehose Trail is definitely an integral part in Hong Kong.People nowadays tend to finish it with a form of trail running, which means completing all sections of Mac-Trail within around 11-15 hours. However, walking slowly and camping around after all are never wrong. This traditional hiking format even is the best way to enjoy every single details of this trail.
nearshek bruh don’t speak like 11-15 hours is what people normally do. 11 hours is the record time of Oxfam Super Trailwalker by Team Columbia. There’s literally only a handful of people capable of doing that.
@@greenhat7618 ikr 😂
That is the Hong Kong Trail for the "11-15hr trail running" hes talking about. There are three main trails in Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Trail ~50km, the Maclehose ~100km, and the Wilson ~78km. Maclehose would most certainly need at least two nights of camping.
@@chengkenneth83 and also the Lantau Trail! ~70km. There's an annual trail running event called Hong Kong Four Trails Ultra Challenge (HK4UTC).
I do like this editing style to these videos, no vlog, just relaxing sounds
These kinds of videos of yours make me calm. It relieves my anxiety and depression. And for that I thank you.
And this made me realise i'm not alone in the struggle. Thankyou
This brought back so many memories. I went to college in Hong Kong, so many good hiking trails. Amazing cinematography as always!
I enjoyed the silence of your video, and let nature and visual take over.
So many people don't realise how much outdoor space (beaches, islands, hiking trails) there are in Hong Kong! I myself only fully realised when I moved here. One of my favourite hikes (possibly anywhere in the world) is around Ma On Shan, which is somewhat (there are some gorgeous/fun offtrail sections) part of this MacLehose Trail (Stage 4). And the Tai Long Wan beaches around the first stages at 1:09 makes you double check if you're really still in HK! ❤ Oh, Hong Kong 😍 Beautifully done as always.
wow man I'm a Hong Konger and coincidentally I have just done the full MacLehose Trail last week as well in 4 days.
I hope you have enjoyed our city's unique scenery of hills and highrises combined, especially the night!
As someone from HK, you are the only one I know that completed most of the trail, and with a cinematic vlog. Big fan from the wedding film school time, awesome work.
OMG.
absolutely beautiful films...
すごい。ほんとすごい。
Go n try hiking in Hong Kong if you are free to come after the pandemic. Stay health!
You can tell Kraig definitely drink more water this time than Kilimanjaro. We call this experience that makes you stronger. Great job Kraig, awesome hike.
These videos will never get old, they are all so pleasing to watch. Thank you for sharing your travels with us all.
i love doing hiking during my off work its feel amazing to hear sound of the birds and whisper the fresh air in your ear with good weather its amazing
The images taken with the drone are magnificent! It makes you want to spend your whole life traveling.
There used to be an annual event called Trailwalker during which a few thousand people in teams of 4 had 48 hours to cover the Maclehose Trail. Gurkha teams would run the whole way and complete it in 13-14 hours. I did it twice in consecutive years in 1992 and 1993. My team’s aim was to beat 24 hours. The only reason I did it twice was our 26 hour attempt in 1992!
I am so glad that you chose this method of storytelling! I need more of this in my life!!!
Up early with my baby and saw you posted another beautiful video. These are seriously so good, I could watch them all day.
What I love about your videos is that they really capture what it feels like to hike.
Greetings from Hong Kong!
I'm so glad you enjoy your hike in Hong Kong
Thanks for bringing serenity in your video especially in the current situation of social unrest politically and fear of a coronavirus outbreak
2:00 is the best shot I like in the video. Love the landscape of Hong Kong rising from afar.
Also happy to see you are recovering from the altitude sickness and successfully walk the MacLehose Trail.
In the beginning of the video I was curious why there were no people in any of the shots. The trails are usually packed with many people, especially in the weekends! And later I see (hear) people around :D Haha finally break the silence! lol Please forgive us laughing and talking loud they are just happy hikers :D
what section is that at the 2:00 mark? Thanks.

Kraig, your channel is the best channel on UA-cam. Hands down.
That shot of the misty monochrome trees was stunning!!! .. Amazing walk.
Lord MacLehose was a great governor.
Nostalgia hits me. Living 2 yrs of my childhood in HK the trails seemed all so familiar. Thanks Kraig for this meditative video.

These are wonderful videos. What a treat to hear only muted conversations and a blend of authentic background sounds and local voices. So well done. Thanks.

Beautiful work as always
Beautiful video! So glad to see Hong Kong's trails getting some exposure. There's a great hiking and trail running culture here and it's a very unique experience. It also keeps this Canadian sane in the concrete jungle. Glad you enjoyed it!
Absolutely stunning Kraig. Will you visit Japan again? I'd love to see this format of your video with you being back in cities, or not just hiking, but the same silent ASMR style vlog.
Exactly!
These videos are really something else.

Breathtaking as usual! I liked the last video too but I missed the drone shots, glad to see them back!!
Perfect music and great captures make this video so stunning!!! Well done!!
You really do the best hiking videos on UA-cam, every single time! And I do have a suggestion for your future hikes, it's Slovenian Mountain Trail, which is one of the oldest established hiking tracks in Europe. The hike takes you through all Slovenian Alps, all the way to the Adriatic sea and it's absolutely gorgeous.
i love your vids Kraig. I think everything you make is a masterpiece .
Thanks for making this video! It was beautiful!
Amazing work Kraig! Hope to see more videos of you hiking in Asia.

I can barely hike 6 miles ... let alone 60. This is so very cool, Craig. And super cinematic! Love your hiking series! Btw, I'm glad you have a hiking friend. Solo hikes can be tough.
Reminds me of the good old days when I went to the MacLehose Trail with my friends, great video!
