    I wanted to thank you for your reflections on Israel-Palestine. It waa beautifully written and it gave me more peace than any meditation I tried since it all started. It's just good to know we are not alone, we are many and we will prevail.

    Hi friends, there is a poem that I first heard from Tara, it was something about how I/we/the poet are the "bad" as well. Somehow the image of a ship and prison keeps coming up when I'm thinking about this poem. The gist of the poem was the humbleness that "I" too can be guilty of crime/bad. Does this ring a bell for anyone? It was a profound poem

    So crazy that you shared the parable of the baby and the homeless man in this video! Just yesterday I watched another one of your talks where you shared it, and was extremely moved. The repetition feels very meaningful.

    Honestly speaking ... I am impressed about the short pre-planning. To get a whole AC40 fleet onto the start line with so many countries involved (e.g. Dutch and German dont have an AC75 campaign) just within 2020-21 is outstanding. And great to see, that it was a British initiative to push that idea through successfully against (or with) the AC owner (ETNZ). - Hope this leads to an AC38 where not only males sail the big AC75 boats ... why not let sail the same boat by a woman and by a male team ... that would make it by sure more attractive under different aspects (sponsors, media, youth sailing).

    I love your content Tara and find it easier to rest back into presence as I absorb your stories and wisdom.
    I was kind of snapped out of it when I heard your view on Capitalism as being an economic system that fuels our sense of separateness and greed. I used to hold this view when I was younger (albeit with less of a Buddhist framing) but Capitalism with all its obvious drawbacks has succeeded in lifting more people out of poverty than any other economic system to date. Communism, which my family escaped with my brother and I in tow, has led to more human suffering and death than any other economic system ever implemented by humanity. It seems to work on small scales (communes, kibbutz, co-ops) but brings about the most corrupt and ruthless at large scales (100M dead in 20th century Communist revolutions, immense povery, starvation).
    There is some segment of the population that is motivated by money- wakes up, wants to innovate or sell eclairs to the neighborhood, with the hopes they can better their financial position. This doesn't make them evil or greedy, nor is it a zero sum contest if they employ others fairly. We do have to acknowledge the sense of lack some may feel comparing themselves to those who have more, and of course the wide disparity in luck (like the circumstances we are born with), but we must be careful not to altogether remove an incentive structure that motivates people to be productive.
    All that said, Capitalism can lead to extreme greed and harm and that is why we still need governmental oversight, and social programs to help correct for disparities in luck. So as it is with all things Buddhist and non-Buddhist - balance is key.

    I think I’m dense tonight. I don’t get the joke about the abbot crying and saying that the original text says celebrate. Can someone explain?

      I’m guessing the text that tells them they need to be celibate as monks. All along it was “celebrate” 😂

    • @lisah1952
      @lisah1952 11 місяців тому +1

      Monks are supposed to be celebate. So the joke is it was mispelled instead of celibrate someone had been mistakenly writing it as celibate for the last 100 years.
