Thanks, great job. I bought a brass pump at a car boot sale today because I thought it was from this lamp and found your video whilst trying to identify the pump. Unfortunately it’s not from this lamp. Now I have to find out what I have !
Excellent video, clearly shows all the stages with no unnecessary time wasting. I do have a few Q's :- What paints did you use? Did you clean the vapouriser tube? I assume drilling out the the hole in the burner assembly was just to clean out any carbon deposits? Was it just wood stain you applied to the handles? The rubber washers between the tank and frame looked like electrical grommets? I have two FL6's and one day will either just service them or perhaps a full restoration - time permitting.
Hi Dave, Thank you for your questions. Paint was 2 coats of black Hammerite. Vapourier tube was cleaned using the heat and quench method and then tapping out the carbon deposit. Yes electrical grommets as I had them at hand and they fitted perfectly. The woods was coated twice with stain and once with beeswax. Good luck with your lamps, they are a lot of fun as there ain’t a lot that can go wrong with them. The main thing to keep an eye out for is rust on the base, if the rust has eaten through than chances are the tank is scrap,

@@RustnRewind much appreciated! I was at a Coleman Collectors gathering in Gettysburg last week and seen one that was fresh out of the crate and it performed ok but not up to its full potential. I think the crate, lamp, tripod, and accessories weighed in at around 108 pounds. The videos don’t do it justice in that aspect of them lol!
Nice restoration. The threaded rod on the carrying handle is an improvement over what was there before.
