Thanks for covering this buddy! I have to watch what I say... if i get legally involved now... but I've had a problem with Honey for several years due to what you said. Also be aware, people may have Honey plug-ins in their browser because of software update bundles with other apps if people don't pay attention intensely.
Thank you so much for this! I participated in your poll and was one of us that had no idea what it really was . I had heard it mentioned a few times. Thanks for all you do to inform and inspire us in the hobby!
Literally had no idea how this thing worked and really had no idea how they were funded for providing a free extension or app. Huge thanks for the info brother. Unrelated, it appears the anoxic tank is clearing up 😀
I'm cautious whenever I encounter a website/UA-cam channel promoting something, is it totally unbiased or are they promoting just the product to which they'll get a commission? And what if I've reviewed several sources before making a purchase? Is it fair that the last affiliate link will get it? Though I didn't know Honey alters the cookie, that is dishonest. What you could do then, is give a coupon code itself, instead of embedding it in the link.
I have yet to find a full contract out there. However there have been some businesses explaining the problems, there's a great video from megalag about it
@@BentleyPascoe i have not seen a single one who provided evidence. I have seen two UA-camrs sue them. I just find it a bit strange that so many have an opinion but none provide a contract.
You are pretty much way off. Anecdotal evidence in this case may be a he said she said thing. I run 3 ecommerce websites, and people use honey all of the time, and the creators I deal with get their cut. I am not affiliated with honey. I can't even understand what you are trying to say in this video.

Thanks for being you Bentley and letting us know about this!
thank god I thought their ads were annoying and never used it
Thank you for explaining how it works! I don't use it and really didn't know it could be such an issue. So underhanded.

I do not use add-ons and am glad I didn't contribute to this messed up practice without knowing it!!
the Megalag video explained the problem very well. I didn't realize it was a fishfam issue though, but im not fully surprised
I have never used them, and I have never heard of them. Thank you for letting us know.
Thank you so much for keeping us informed, Bentley. You're always a trusted source of information on so many topics.

Aaannd...add-on deleted.
Good point out on how these kinds of affiliate programs.
Do you have the contract people signed with honey? i don't see it and everyone is calling it a scam without evidence of them not knowing.

We need about a thousand Luigi's scattered across the world to fix this kinda stuff.
Never heard of this app, thanks for the information
thank you for bringing this to light. Not ever going to use Honey!
The only 🍯 I get is from a grocery store and my wife. My wife doesn't give me a discount 😒
Wow Bentley never heard of Honey and guess I now more informed about these crappie shady business. Thanks for this info
It's stealing from everyone with an affiliate link whether they are a youtuber or not.
Sometimes I’m glad I’m not tech savvy. The bad guys missed me again. Kinda like keeping your cc’s maxed out so your accounts don’t get hacked lol.
Never heard of it. Don’t use coupon apps
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you.
Thanks
This is why browser extensions are rarely a good idea.
I don't recall hearing about the app. That is definitely unfortunate though thanks for the PSA
nice one. I thought it seemed fishy
Never even heard of this before
Good one!
had no idea about honey! I sure will be on the lookout so I DON'T CLICK ON THAT thanks for speaking out

@@sulfurcitynews You can quite literally watch honey swap the affiliate cookie. It's not hard.
@@BentleyPascoe you are talking about affiliate links then. Totally different thing. Codes and affiliate links are tow different things.
