It simply amazing that a famous singer/song writter like Neil is still married to his first wife since about the time this song was burning up the charts!
While many are here for a movie, I am here because I have listened to Neil Sedaka from the beginning and know that he is a legend of music now and forever.
Love this song! It has been repeating in my head for quite some time. I just had to watch n listen to it on youtube. Neil Sedaka fan from Malaysia. Born in 1984 btw. I love oldies music. ♥️♥️
This is a great video. First, Neil was a very talented and hard working guy. His not being in the R&R Hall of Fame is almost a crime. This video was made in 1966 for a great concept but it was not yet time. Beautiful girls, may favs are April and Feb. To think of it, with the passing of 57 years, these girls are now probably late 70's to early 80's. Grandmothers and Great Grandmothers. Still what beauty and charm.
When I was in high school music class in the early 70’s, our teacher explained lyrical progression. It didn’t sink in just as she knew it wouldn’t. She played “Calendar Girl” on a .45 single and the light went on. Neil Sedaka and everyone else who came out of the Brill Building left a giant mark.
What beautiful women! 😍 They were like dolls even better than Barbie! I looooove their looks 😍 And of course I love Neil Sedaka! He have many beautiful songs 💖💖💖💖
I have my dad's old jukebox from his Tavern and the Scopetone player and videos. They were the predecessor of MTV and somewhat sassy for the bar patrons. A quarter got you 3 regular songs or one song off the Scopetone choices in the 70's. Thanks for the post!
As a guy born in the 80's, I love a number of oldie songs & this is obviously one of them. It's just so good it takes me back to being a kid when my folks played it. Fantastic songs, can't beat the oldie's.
I'm here not from a film or an episode of a TV show, but because I used to listen to an AM radio station that did music from the '50s and '60s, and this was one of my favorite songs that they played. :) Alas, that radio station became a Gospel station sometime around 2003. But this is still one of the songs it played that I liked the most! :)
This is a Scopitone short. Scopitone was a jukebox with a 16 millimeter projector that showed shorts with the song, a great idea that never really caught on. I saw this short in a diner in Lebanon, Missouri. Our family was on a cross-country trip from St. Louis to Utah, about 1967. I think it cost like a buck to play a song with a video. They must have made big bucks off this one. The song came on and my mother, brother, and sister suddenly stopped talking--in fact the whole dinner went silent. I was sitting with my back to the screen, and finally had to turn my chair around and put my hamburger plate on my lap or risk twisting my head off. A favorite early adolescence memory, thanks for putting this up!
Another fabulous Scopitone. Great hooks. 'Pop' music is music which just stays with you, and brilliant artists, such as Mr Sedaka made some of the most infectious songs
He and Paul Anka were true Survivors. Can you imagine how challenging it was to try to continue to have a Career where there was Motown, The British Invasion, not to mention The California Sound. Those two were the Kings Of Teen Angst.
@@dabreu Amen to that. They were very smart because the Wrote what they "Sang". Alot of past Teen Idols depend on other folks to write for them. Very bad move. Their songs have been used so many times over and over. In the 1970s Paul Wrote The Times Of Your Life for Kodak, while Neil's Music was used to sell Purina Cat Chow
Thank God we had all of these talented and gifted songwriters and performers of this era. Their work is a treasure trove. For pure beautiful pop songs, I reckon you can't go past Neil Sedaka.
Growing up I used to see his records around the house, since my father always had this type of music hanging around--needless to say--I grew up listening to this music that was a bit behind my time, but thank god I had it--I heard it, and then/now I love it...
The beauty of his songs are that you feel elated. And that is about feeling good. It's past my dad's generation, but I can still see my mum (now 87) going wild to this.
I grew up listening to this, my grandpa would blast Neil Sedaka at 1 am in the morning 🖤 he really helped develop my music taste 🖤 I miss him so much 🖤
Awesome! Neil Sedaka was a very prolific songwriter and hit machine of the late 50's and early 60's. He unfortunately left all his financial affairs in the hands of his mother who promptly (along with her lover) blew the lot and left him penniless! Neil, of course, set about trying to pull some money back, but what happened?.....The Beatles hit America and solo singers like Neil fell out of favour! Neil was reduced to playing the rough & tough clubs of Northern England to try and make a living and he had to wait until the mid 70's before he made a revival. Tragic story really, when a woman that most of us dote on from an early age does this to you. Don't know if there was anything malicious in Neil's mother's misdeeds, but certainly very sad for a man that brought so many great songs into our lives.

When you're on the beach you steal the show
Yeah, yeah my heart's in a whirl
I love, I love, I love my little calendar girl
Every day, every day, of the year
(Every day of the year)
Yeah, yeah my heart's in a whirl
I love, I love, I love my little calendar girl
Every day, every day, of the year
(Every day of the year)
September
I light the candles at your sweet sixteen
October
Romeo and Juliet on halloween
November
I'll give thanks that you belong to me
December
You're the present 'neath my christmas tree
Yeah, yeah my heart's in a whirl
I love, I love, I love my little calendar girl
Every day, every day, of the year
(Every day of the year)
I love, I love, I love my calendar girl
Yeah sweet calendar girl
